Matthew T. Abruzzo (1889-1971) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He joined the court in 1936 after an appointment from Franklin Delano Roosevelt. At the time of appointment, Abruzzo was a private practice attorney in New York. On February 15, 1966, he assumed senior status and continued to serve in this capacity until his death on May 28, 1971.[1]

Abruzzo was nominated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on February 3, 1936 to a seat created by 49 Stat. 659. He was confirmed by the Senate on February 12th, and received commission on February 15th. On February 15, 1966, he assumed senior status and continued to serve in this capacity until his death on May 28, 1971.[1] Abruzzo was succeeded in this position by Anthony Travia.
