Joanna Seybert is a federal judge on senior status for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She joined the court in 1993 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton. Seybert assumed senior status on January 13, 2014.[1]
Seybert graduated from University of Cincinnati with her bachelor's degree in 1967 and also graduated from St. John`s University School of Law with her J.D. in 1971.[1]
On the recommendation of New York U.S. Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Seybert was nominated by President Bill Clinton on September 24, 1993, to a new seat created by 104 Stat. 5089. Seybert was confirmed by the Senate on November 20, 1993, on a majority voice vote and received commission on November 24, 1993.[2] After twenty years on the bench Seybert assumed senior status in 2014.[1]
