Joseph McNamara (Republican Party) (also known as Joe) is a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 40. He assumed office on January 10, 2024. His current term ends on January 14, 2026.

Biography
Joseph McNamara was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He earned a B.S. in commerce, accounting, and finance from the University of Virginia in 1985. McNamara's career experience includes owning Katie’s Ice Cream and Chocolates and the Salem Ice Cream Parlor. McNamara was elected to the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors from 1998 to 2009 and again from 2014-2018.[1][2]

2018
A special election for District 8 of the Virginia House of Delegates was held on November 6, 2018. Political parties had until August 17 to nominate a candidate.
On July 27, 2018, state Delegate Greg Habeeb (R) announced that he would resign on August 31, 2018, citing a desire to spend more time with his family and working for his law firm.[3]
