Dustin has lived in Salem, Virginia since 2013. Being born and raised in Virginia, he is familiar with the issues facing western Virginia. He is an Army Veteran, seriving in both Operation Enduring Freedom(Afghanistan) and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a former federal employee but has been a stay at home dad since the end of 2019. He and his wife are active foster parents and have 8 children, most adopted through foster care.

Dustin has served his country thru his military service and federal employment. He has served local children and families thru foster care and now he wants to continue that service as the Delegate for the 8th district.

  • More than half my adult life has been spent in serivce to country and community as a Veteran, volunteer, and foster parent
  • Invest in people through an increase in minimum wage, medicare for all, access to broadband, and a basic minimum income
  • Reform the school funding formula to ensure education equity throughout the state so that the children of the 8th district has the same educational advantages as those big schools in Northern Virginia

Education
- Teachers need to be fairly compensated for the invaluable service they provide to our future generations.
- The school funding formula must be reworked to ensure economic equity. Schools in the 8th district deserve

just as much as the big schools in Northern Virginia.

Healthcare
- Healthcare is a right, not a privelage. Its a disgrace to our society when people have to have 'Go Fund Me'

campaigns in order to afford even the most basic of healthcare needs.

Improving the Economy
-Attracting more jobs to the area.
-Pushing trade school as hard as university to encourage careers in trade which will provide a more skilled

 workforce.

-Raising the minimum wage to at least $20/hr for large employers, while protecting small businesses.
-Promoting & expanding worker's rights
- Instituting a basic minimum income to help people rise out of poverty and can help stablize the economy

 during times of recession.

Infrastructure
-Tax large corporations who haven't been paying their fair share, punish them for moving profits overseas, tax mega churches, and tax the top 1% of wealthy individuals to finance improvements to roads, bridges, tunnels, public transit, electrice, water, and sewer utilities, access to broadband, child/elder care, and a basic minimum income to pull people out of the "poverty trap". People are infrastructure.

Jacinda Arden, the Prime Minister of New Zealand.

As Stacy Watkins wrote in an article "[she] has also become the torch carrier for progressive politics as a young woman who breaks the mold in a world where the political strongman is on the rise. She is a foil to the muscular diplomacy of the likes of US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin."

I think it was the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City in 1995. I was10 years old.

My first real job was as a soldier in the United States Army. I served for 5 years, including two combat tours overseas.

Anything about the American Revolution

A song from Cocomelon

Johny, Johny, Yes Papa

I do not believe this is toatlly necessary. I would value experience in community service more than experience in politics. I hold a bachelors in Political Science and have served in the military and worked for the federal governement and I don't think those made me ready any more than serving my community thru the Boy Scouts, PTA, and foster care.

I do believe in building relationships and trying to work in a bipartisan way as long as it doesn't conflict with my personal convictions and is in the best interest of the people of my district.

I support using an independent redistrciting commission.
