Four years of his university education were completed in Italy: Florence (1989-91), L’Aquila (1994-95), and Venice (2001-02). He completed his PhD thesis, Calvino: Reader of Leopardi and Galileo, at the University of Toronto in 2007. He was Assistant Professor at McMaster University in Hamilton (ON, Canada), where he taught Italian language, literature, and cinema for four years, and was one of the founding members of Cinema Insieme. He was Instructor of Italian language, literature, and cinema, at the Italian Cultural Institute in Toronto (2010-2020). He is presently Professor of Italian language, literature, and cinema, at York University in Ontario (Canada).
