The seats up for election included District 2, held by Betty Peters (R), District 4, held by Yvette Richardson (D), District 6, held by Cynthia Sanders McCarty (R), and District 8, held by Mary Scott Hunter (R). As of January 2018, two members of the board were Democratic and seven members of the board were Republican.
