  • Heading into the 2018 election, the attorney general of Nebraska was Doug Peterson (R), who was first elected in 2014. On August 30, 2017, Peterson announced that he would seek a second term in 2018.
  • In 2018, Nebraska was a Republican trifecta. It had held this status since former Gov. Mike Johanns (R) took office in 1999. Nebraska was also a Republican triplex.
