Renaissance STAR 360 (Historical Extract) Data Acquisition Instructions

Step 1

Login to your district’s iteration of the Renaissance Place with your LEA credentials

Step 2

Click on either the ‘Star Reading’, ‘Star Early Literacy’, or ‘Star Math’ button on the left-hand side of the screen. You will need to repeat the process below for each of the three subjects, one year at a time.

Step 3

After clicking on your subject, select “Historical Extract” from the list that pops up below the subject you selected.

Step 4

Click “Choose Assignment Type…” under the ‘Export Student Data’ window.

Step 5

Under the ‘Assignment Window’, choose “Assignments from assessment apps”

Step 6

Under the “Application column, make sure to pick the subject that corresponds with that of the subject you chose in step 2. Be sure you choose the subject in English, not Spanish.

Step 7

Under the ‘Assignments’ column, be sure to pick the “STAR [subject] Enterprise Assessment (English)”, and click ‘Apply’

Step 8

The export application should migrate you back to the “Export Student Data” window from Step 4. Click on the blue “Select Schools…” box to select your schools you intend to include in the export.

Step 9

Under the “Schools” window, simply select the “All Schools” option towards the top of the window to include all of your district’s schools. All of your schools should be listed below, and the checkboxes next to the names should be checked.

Step 10 Select the school year you wish to export, only selecting 1 year at a time. Selecting more than one year will create a file containing more than 1 year’s worth of data, which we cannot use. Simply leave the “Date for Projected Score” alone. Then click the blue “Generate Extract” button to generate your data files.

Step 11

The export application will notify you of your reports being generated with the pop-up pictured left. Simply click “Ok

Step 12 Below the “Export Student Data” window, a queue titles “Exports performed in the last 5 days” will appear, containing the data files you just extracted. Do not open or adjust the .csv file. Simply leave it as is, and save it to your computer in the manner typical for your browser.

-REPEAT Steps 2-10 for each separate Subject you wish to export. -REPEAT Step 10 for each school year you wish to export, from current (2019) through 2014, or the earliest year your schools took the test. Do NOT export multiple years into a single file.

Step 12 Once you have downloaded all your files (One per term tested; e.g. Fall 2019, Winter 2019, Spring 2020), Upload the well-named file you created in Step 7 to us via MMARS’ integrated, validated upload utility. Click here for a video tutorial
