party book for Yara Dear Yara, We’re so proud of you for passing your swim test. Congratulations! Wishing you lots of fun in the water. Grandma & Grandpa

Hare has just woken up. He can hear Miss Bird outside, chirping loudly.

‘Hare, Hare, are you awake yet? We’re throwing a party for Yara today!’

‘Oh, is that today?’ Hare asks. Miss Bird flaps her wings in excitement. ‘Yes it is! But.. oh dear…. I don’t have enough decorations yet! Will we be able to throw Yara a party?’ Hare nods. ‘Of course we will, don’t worry! I’ll help you!’

Miss Bird paces to and fro. ‘Thank you Hare, that’s wonderful! I’ll use my feathers to make decorations and I’ll find a great spot for the party.’ Hare nods. He grabs the checklist for the party they’re throwing for Yara. ‘I’ll go out to invite our friends and gather party supplies. See you later!’

Hare hops happily through the woods. He stops at the base of the highest trees. He takes a deep breath and calls out:

For a moment, everything stays silent. Then Hare hears rustling leaves and snapping branches. A long neck appears and all of a sudden, Hare can see Giraffe’s friendly face.

‘Giraffe’, he says. ‘You’re here! I need your help!’

‘We’re organising a party for Yara today. But we don’t have enough decorations yet.

Do you have anything we could use?’ Hare asks. ‘A party? How lovely! I have beautiful, colourful bunting. I’ll even hang it up for you. I can reach up high with my long neck, you see!’

Hare and Giraffe sing as they walk all the way to the edge of the woods, where the high trees make way for a vast plain of sand.

They can see the meerkats standing guard in the distance. They’re startled by the sounds coming from the woods for a moment.

The meerkats soon calm down, as it’s only their friends. ‘Dear meerkats, could you please help us with the party we’re throwing for Yara?’ Hare and Giraffe ask.

‘A party? Yes, we love parties! And the good thing is, we have lots of lemonade, as we need to drink plenty when we’re out in the hot desert.’

Lemonade, check! They pack up and continue on their journey.

Hare shivers and says ‘It’s getting so cold! We must be nearly there.’

‘Look, there are the penguins’, Giraffe exclaims excitedly. ‘We’ve made it to the ice plains!’

Hare tells the penguins all about the party for Yara, about Giraffe putting up the bunting and the meerkats bringing lemonade.

‘We’ll bring the ice cubes to go in the lemonade’, the penguins offer. ‘They’ll keep it lovely and cool!’

The animals talk as they walk back to Hare’s house. ‘Are you throwing a party?’ There’s rustling in the branches. ‘You’ll need confetti if you’re throwing a party!’

More rustling. Hare looks around: ‘Who’s there? Where are you?’ ‘Try and find me..’ the voice replies.

‘Oh, it’s you, Chameleon!’

Chameleon hands Hare a big bag of confetti. ‘Oh how lovely, so many colours!’ exclaims Hare. ‘Here you go Chameleon, you can pick a party hat as a thank you!’ A party hat is just what Chameleon wants. A colourful one, just like him. He’ll look so good at the party!

Everyone’s in a festive mood. The party is about to start! ‘Wait for us!’ voices squeak from below. There’s a big card on the ground. But what’s this? The card is moving! Hundreds of ants are carrying the card and swarming around Hare’s feet. ‘We have a card for Yara!’ the ants say.

When all the decorations are up, Hare hops over to where Yara lives in Bristol. He arrives at the right street, Main Street. ‘Is our party animal ready?’

They wear their party hats, singing and talking as they make their way to the party together. ‘Are you ready, Yara?’
