The goal is to create a community of inclusive and supportive Designers, Creatives and Makers from the greater Vancouver area who are interested in sharing knowledge, building their business and making meaningful communityconnections.

Planning Team

Born and raised in the Vancouver area, Val never thought she would be a creative/maker. Armed with her degree in Criminology from SFU, she worked at Dress for Success Vancouver until she welcomed her first child. From there, the creative (and entrepreneurial) bug hit, and she started her Etsy shop, Veespoke.

Since then, she dove head first into the craft world, participating in markets (some of her favourites include Got Craft and Portobello West), then organizing markets as part of the Vancouver Etsy Co. She’s passionate about empowering creatives and makers in their business journey by providing opportunities and a community for them to be part of and thrive in.

When she’s not working on VEC or Veespoke, she is focusing on her most important job as a mom of three boys.

A forever entrepreneur, a supporter of cute + funny animal vids, and an adamant optimist (until she's not).

A born-and-raised Vancouverite who made her mark in the craft world with her (now retired) knitwear business. Anita now spends her time as a consumer and cheerleader of local and handmade goods and services. She claims she is “efficient because I’m lazy” and therefore a pro at streamlining processes to just make things work better. After many years of being a vendor and customer, she has a keen eye for in-person market displays, online product photos, and effective lookbooks.

My name is Dianna and I loved drawing ever since I was young. My inspiration comes from my daily life and my love for all food related items.

How did you get started?

100 Days Co was created in hopes of being able to sustain my family with this business after my maternity leave was over.

How did you come up with your business name?

Being a first time mom, everything was hard in the beginning. No matter how much preparation that I did during pregnancy prepared me for the amount of stress and anxiety that happened during postpartum. Everything changed after my baby turned 100 days. My baby slept better and started to interact with me more. I felt like myself again. Traditionally in Chinese culture, the 100 days symbolized that the baby and mother passed the toughest period since birth. 100 Days Co was created in celebration of this.

How did you come up with your business name? I've started to draw again in age of 33 and my motto has become now or never.

Why did you start your Etsy shop?

I started my Etsy shop because I wanted to share my handmade, all-natural body care products with others to help them heal, restore, and protect the vitality of their skin and bodies, as they have done for me, my partner, and my two kids.

Where do you make your items?

I have a home studio in East Vancouver, where all of my products are made and packaged in refillable and zero waste containers. All of my products are lovingly handmade in small batches, with pure, 100% natural, and ethical ingredients.

My mission is to help people create the green, healthy lifestyle they desire. My time-tested formulas have helped many women, men, and children treat a range of skin conditions, and give them remarkable results.

How did you come up with your business name?

In ancient Greek, "aether" was believed to be the realm where the gods resided and breathed, analogous to the "air" mortals breathe. To me, flowers possess the power to brighten any space, transforming it with beauty and vibrancy just like aether. It is my humble passion to bring a touch of aether into your lives through my floral arrangements.

How did you get started?

In the memorable summer of 2020, AlessiaAdora® sprouted in our kitchen as mother-daughter duo, Mirabela and then six-year-old Alessia, turned to cooking amidst the global pandemic. Our growing passion for culinary creativity led to a need for an organized, digital-friendly kitchen setup. Like many home chefs, we struggled with balancing online recipes and cooking tools. Identifying this universal problem, we challenged the chaotic standard of home cooking, paving the way for a modern kitchen organizer. Thus, sousShelf - the ultimate kitchen helper was born.

Tell us about how your product is made. What is your favourite part?

The process begins with my favourite part - brainstorming and sketching designs, followed by sourcing high-quality materials which are often locally sourced to support other small businesses. We get help from highly trained artisans with the creation process. We are learning this step to eventually do it ourselves. This is where our ideas come to life as we carefully shape, assemble, and finish each piece. What I love most about this stage is the transformation that occurs. It's incredibly satisfying to see the raw wood turn into a beautiful, finished product. It's a tangible representation of our creativity and hard work. Finally, each item is packaged with care, ready to bring joy to its new owner. Every step of the process is done with love and attention to detail, ensuring that our customers receive a product that is truly special.

Hello! I’m Kassandra from Amara Blue. I’ve been designing and creating jewelry for 11 years, and for much of that I have offered custom handstamped jewelry. I also offer permanently welded jewelry in my studio in Gastown, which perfectly aligns with custom pieces I’ve offered over the years.

How did you come up with your business name?

I also intended on offering custom wedding pieces at the time - Blue refers to the “something blue” wedding tradition. I didn’t end up doing wedding pieces at the beginning of my career, but now it’s come full circle with offering permanent jewelry for wedding parties and celebrations.

How do you stay creative?

When not designing, I prioritize a lot of outdoor time and travel. I’m an avid hiker and scuba diver, and take a lot of inspiration from what I get to experience on the mountain or underwater.

Tell us about how your product is made. What is your favourite part?

All of my jewelry designs are made by a process called handstamping, which involves imprinting metal dyes into gold or silver. I now also hand illustrate, and manufacture these dyes which I’m incredibly proud of. This allows me to now create whatever type of design calls to my heart, and also allows me to create fully custom stamp designs for clients.

Hi hello!! My name is Amy and I make teddy bears! Benji Bear is a representation of the joy and innocence of when we were young and when life wasn’t complicated. I created Benji to be pocket-sized so he can accompany you day-to-day, and as a small reminder that there is joy in the little things around us everyday. Amies Studio is a labour of my love for the little things, and there is no better way to show it than by slowly and intentionally hand-stitching each charming little friend. Also, who doesn’t like teddy bears?

How did you get started?

I was a stressed-out university student and started creating the goofiest looking things to make myself laugh amidst what life was throwing at me. As it turns out, other people also smile when they see my creations, citing how silly, whimsical, nostalgic, or even comforting they are. From that point on, Amies Studio became a home for all the silly little things that bring myself and others that little bit of joy we need everyday to keep us going.

How do you stay creative?

Meeting other creatives! It is always a treat to chat with others and see their own creative process when it comes to their crafts. In that same vein, seeing their crafts itself is inspiring! It challenges me to create something that is equally inspiring. Although, I usually end up creating something silly instead haha.

Best thing about your business?

I love love love hearing back from my clients! I often get emails or messages from individuals who have purchased a little guy from me where they tell me how happy their purchase has made them, and how they have purchased more from me to give as gifts to their own loved ones. Sometimes, I get photos of my little guys going on adventures and travelling the world with their owners! It is incredibly rewarding and I am so honoured to have my creations loved by others as much as they are.

How do you stay creative?

In my day job I am around creative people everyday. I am fairly ideas driven so I can't wait to materialized them. Sometimes I have so many ideas, I get too buzzed to sleep.

How did you get started?

I started out attending small local markets for fan events, creating fan art of some of my favourite cartoons and comics. As I was able to grow my online following, I realized there was a market for my style and unique vision, so I pivoted to creating my own designs, comics, and illustrations, now using not only markets, but my online shop, and Patreon-based subscription club, to share what I do with the world

How do you stay creative?

My creative inspiration comes from both inside, and outside - literally - I find myself equally inspired by the world I find alone (enjoying the work of other creatives, consuming fresh media like TV and books), as well as outside, where an active lifestyle and the gorgeous scenery of BC sparks a fire in me.

Why did you start your Etsy shop?

Etsy was the very first sales platform that I chose to start my online business. Pay-as-you-go fees were more affordable for me than to jump into my own online shop with a fixed fee. I love the support from fellow makers I’ve met along the way. I feel right at home in the Etsy community.

What’s your favorite part of being an Etsy seller?

I love to accommodate my customers anyway I can to give them a great shopping experience.

How did you come up with the name for your Etsy shop?

Etsy only allows a shop name that contains up to 20 letters.

bethandoliviahandmade was too long so I went with bethandoliviasmarket.

Where were you when you made your first sale on Etsy? I listed my first handful of items one evening. I decided to check the shop again before I went to bed and got my first sale.

From larger, one-of-akind crystal pendants, to limited edition wrap bracelets and sterling silver necklaces, there is something offered for all in our collection!

A day in my life:

On a typical weekday the focus starts with being sure kids are fed and out the door on time. These days I am down to 2 as one is away at University in Ontario. Then I catch up on emails, check on materials and/or order supplies. Next I'm packing online orders which have been made the previous day(s), and heading to my shipping company to drop off packages. Sometimes I meet up with a fellow creative-a kindred spirit-for lunch. In the afternoon, I work on any new orders that have come in, which often carries into the evening. On bright days I take photos of new products, as I prefer the natural light. And of course, I always fit in at least one dog walk, on the beautiful trails in the forest near my home.

How do you stay creative?

So much of my creative inspiration comes from the beautiful materials that I find in my sourcing. I'm passionate about finding unique and interesting stones and beads. Sometimes I select things having no idea what they will become, other times, I see a vision for them instantly. What I've learned over the years is, creative energy ebbs and flows, and you have to enjoy every part of the process - even the failures. For failure is success in progress!

Boey Leung grew up in the city of Hong Kong. Growing up, she attended art classes which included oil painting, figure painting, animal sketching and watercolour painting for 11 years during her childhood up until high school. She later moved to Burnaby to study at Simon Fraser University where she graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. She rediscovered her love for art in 2020 while finishing her undergraduate degree and from there began painting and self-learning ocean resin art. Her day-to-day work focuses on functional art created by chemical and mechanical tools that reflect her love of engineering and sciences.

How did you get started?

When I was in school, I really needed a hobby to release stress from a stressful engineering student life, and I end up love this kind of art and it becomes my main career. I can also apply knowledge I leant from school into the business, such as buildings some machines and tools for laser engraving or cutting wood, programming for 3D design and printing.

How do you stay creative?

I have struggled to "speak" with my art. I love the Ocean and nature so much and used to paint nature very often during my childhood. I use nature to inspire all my oneof-a-kind unique art pieces. When I create art, my goal is to capture snapshots of a moment in the Ocean. I have both furthered my techniques in my favorite media and explored different, new possibilities.

Bonne Boutique comprises of a mom and daughter team that shares the love of art, craft, making and planning. Our shop offers minimalist, fun-functional, aesthetic stickers and stationery with a dash of whimsy, Our goal is to do our part in spreading positivity and love, one sticker at a time!

What's your favorite part of being an Etsy Seller?

It is a cliché, but truly, its the customers. The ability to ask questions easily allows us to answer them promptly and efficiently. Without having to leave the app itself, our customers can instantly message us their thoughts and questions. We have met (via message function) so many wonderful Etsy customers.

What’s your studio like?

Like most studio, ours is an chaotically organized creative studio space. Its mostly white like a canvas that allows us to think in colour.

Hi, my name is Melissa and I’m the creator of Bujo & Brushstrokes. I create handmade greeting cards of all occasions using watercolour and digital mediums, and printed from my basement in Vancouver, B.C. As a pun enthusiast, my art features cute caricatures with witty slogans. Alongside the cards, I also handmake my own vinyl stickers, stationery goods and apparel (much of which is food inspired).

How did you get started?

Not many people know what ‘Bujo’ stands for (and that’s totally ok!) – ‘Bujo’ is short hand for “bullet journaling”, a creative organization method where you can customize your own daily planner, agenda or trackers to suit your everyday needs. I originally started out by posting bullet journal art and calligraphy to my Instagram as a means of sharing my art on a weekly basis. When 2020 hit, I found myself having a lot more time on my hands and picked up a watercolouring kit. From there, my brushstrokes have taken me into the land of digital art – where I’ve started combining my love for food, cute animals and puns. Now, I have my own apparel line, tote bag designs, stationery and more!

I’m Clara, the creator of C Yarn Hut. C Yarn Hut is a place that allow me to fascinate by the unlimited possibilities, to create something that I love. We knitted and crocheted an array of projects. We specialize in amigurumi and handknitted accessories.

How did you get started?

I learned knitting from my mum when I was young, and self taught crochet. 10 years ago I met a knit artist at a craft market, her knitted bracelet made me know knit and crochet not only for appeals, It can be something else. That's how I started to learn and to create my own crochet home decoration and accessories.

What’s the most challenging part of your business?

time management is the most challenging part of my business. Because I have a day time job, so I need to manage time on C Yarn Hut. Need to find a balance on my job, C Yarn Hut, and also my personal life.

We're Andrea & Gael, owners of Catcouver. We're a cat sitting company that branched out in the craft world two years ago with our Cat Advent Calendar. This year we're going even further! Giving back is also in our DNA. With every sale and service we offer, we donate to VOKRA, a Vancouver-based cat rescue. As we're always surrounded by cats, by either fostering or cat sitting, we've seen everything that cats can do, what they like and what they don't, as well as for their humans too. We are Erica and Diana, a crafty duo whose friendship from highschool blossomed from a little hobby into this growing business we are proud to call Craftedvan. When we started, we hoped to create something new and unique that could put a smile onto another person’s face. We created a product that along with this, also brought back a love for paper books and reading. It has since evolved into a vast collection of characters, each with their own story to tell. By listening to our audience’s interests while adding our own personality, we are able to develop items that are adored and relatable. We put extra care into every cut, fold, sleeve and stick when producing items by hand in order to ensure quality and love is put into each bookmark.

How did you come up with your business name?

Our business name used to be "craft'ed" with the "e" standing for Erica and "d" standing for Diana. We realized how unsearchable it was and how how difficult it is to have a ' in our name, so we dropped that and added a "van". The Van represents "Vancouver" but also our big dream to one day have a crafty van too!

How did you get started?

Our friendship was strengthen by our love for crafting and we used to always meet up to scrapbook or make gifts for our loved ones. One day, the idea came about to start a business, as an excuse for more reasons to create. We went to the dollar store, bought tons of supplies and just got creating! Eventually, we developed the beloved magnetic bookmark which stood out from the rest of our products. We decided to focus on that and it has been the core product for our business since!

How did you get started?

We were co-workers who used to work at the same company and we often used to talk about how we both enjoy creating something from scratch by hand and being creative. One day, we were chatting at the cafe and talking about how it would be so much fun to make accessories and we thought "We totally should just try to do it, nothing is stopping us!". After that day, we slowly started making handmade accessories and brought our products to a few pop-up events. We truly enjoyed meeting new people there, sharing our products there, and knowing that there are people who support us and love our creations!

How do you stay creative?

Get inspiration from everything every day! Our inspiration of course comes from Japanese Kawaii(cute) culture but at the same time, we get inspired by lots of things every day life such as flowers on the street, the color of the sky, a cute cake we had at the cafe, a cute mug we saw at the boutique etc... We often take pictures of them and get inspiration for new products...!

I am a BC based jewelry embroiderer. Over the years my creative expression was to include drawing, photography, woodworking and gardening along with crafting. As time went on, I began experimenting with embroidery and found a way to implement all of my creative skills into my embroidery. From sketching floral patterns from plants in the garden to using my photographs as templates to making my own wooden embroidery supplies such as frames, as well as all my display materials. We named our business after our beloved Corgi, Drby!

2020 was the year we started! Drby was 2 and he started to show signs of irritation and intolerance and we weren't sure why. After much reading and research, we noticed most products on the market aren't really pet friendly OR it would be safe for pets but very expensive. So that's when we decided to start our own!

We genuinely care about all people and dogs that come to us so we will provide all our customers with transparency about our products and any information. I'm Shirley and I started this little silicone and wood bead accessories shop to allow me to donate portion of proceeds to BC Cancer Foundation - over $1500 to date! Cancer took away my beloved aunt and it made me aware of how important this foundation is for research and support they provided to those affected.

This shop has also allowed me to channel my passion for creativity and love for simple and minimalistic designs. Natural elements, such as beech wood, wool, and neutral colours can be found in all my designs for lanyards, keychains, and much more. It has been super rewarding seeing others loving my minimal designs and hope you will too. Materials are sourced from local and/or Canadian suppliers as a way to support fellow small businesses as well.

How did you get started?

This all started in the midst of COVID, during the tail end of 2020. Being stuck at home majority of the time, I wanted to find a new hobby and simply a way for me to raise funds and give back to the community. How did you get started?

The story of how Foraged Fire Starters became a small biz is a bit of a mouthful, however, long story short, I had a small injury at work (I broke 2 fingers playing basketball with a student) which resulted in a condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, frustratingly I wasn’t able to (and still haven’t) return to work, therefore I needed to find something I could do one-handed to fill my time - and stop me losing my mind! Shortly after this Foraged became ‘official’ and I have loved pouring myself into creating my tiny little Fire Starters!

Foraged Fire Starters are hand-made… and by ‘handmade’ I truly mean hand. Singular. Just one! Hehe

Givéh is the name of a traditional Iranian footwear. I chose this name because my first business plan was to modernize Givéh shoes so I kept the name.

Tell us about how your product is made? What is your favorite part?

Most of the knitwear is knitted using knitting machines at home and all the seams are hand sewn. We also have a hand knitted collection.

I design the pieces, choose yarns, and we make the first prototype with the knitters.

My favourite part is working with knitters and learning from them.

I’ll Know It When I See It™ is a two-woman show creating sweet + slightly snarky paper goods™ + gifts from Vancouver, BC. Our products are sometimes nostalgic, often funny + occasionally Asian-inspired.

We aren't sisters but have been friends for more than 18 years, meeting in design school. Two years of team projects was the perfect incubator for building a business + design partnership.

As Canadian born Chinese children of immigrants, we work hard to deliver a relatable mix of nostalgia, humour + insight in our goods, a point of view borne from our multicultural upbringing.

Making space for our culture seemed like a risk but it actually brought the best reward. It has deepened our authenticity in what we create, opening up all these wonderful connections to so many who feel the same resonance.

How did you come up with your business name?

Our business name is a bit of a play on one of the most dreaded phrases a designer may hear from their client. "I'll Know It When I See It" is what someone might say when they can't articulate their needs + simply hope to stumble upon what they want with an "aha" moment. We hope that when someone sees our goods, they'll have that special moment of, "Yes! That's exactly what I'm looking for!".

Being able to design what we like + then having people enjoy it. The laughs we hear + the joy we see when others browse our goods is such a great feeling.

illa Gallery started years prior to starting. Painting came first as a desire to create. Searching for a word that represented the feminine, I went on a word hunt. Exploring words in different languages when I wondered what the word illa meant. I discovered that in Latin it meant she. Short and sweet with illa as ‘SHE’ it seemed meant to be. illa Gallery was born.

Tell us about how your product is made. Fave part?

There are many many steps to create a cast metal pendant in sterling silver or bronze. For me, it starts with the 3d model that I design. Being able to hold the 3d print in my hands to understand the size and scale is really helpful in the design process. With a finalized 3d print, I will use it to create a mold and use lost wax casting to create multiples. It is a labour intensive and time intensive process and I am deeply proud of it!

Liberum [Lee-bear-room] is Latin for unrestricted. I decided to use this as my business name ever since I left my last 9 to 5 job. It's my concept of being free to be creative in different forms of art and design. The significance of the "L" and emphasis of the "R" in the name is also a nod to my initials. Also, you roll the "R" in the Latin pronunciation! ;)

I stay creative by trying different forms of art through drawing, painting, photography, and now woodworking, blending the skills I've learned in each practice to come up with something unique or by putting my own spin to create artwork.

Hi! My name is Malina and I am the maker behind Makes by Mali. My small business is a tumbler business where I make double walled stainless steel tumblers with various different designs on them. These tumblers are good for both hot and cold drinks for up to at least 6 hours. I also make snowglobes tumblers and glass cups which are popular with cold and iced drinks. All of my products are all locally handmade, created, and designed by me. All of my tumblers are reusable which is great as you can take with you wherever you go.

How did you come up with your business name?

I wanted a business name that included part of my name in it. Since I wanted the initials MM as part of my logo, Makes by Mali sounded nice and it fitted the idea that the products were made by me.

How did you get started?

Back in 2016 I was working in corporate Graphic Design and really needed a break from looking at a screen all day everyday. I took a few leather working classes with a local leather worker and became obsessed with leather. It started out making things for friends and family, a few years in I did my first market and 5 years I am teaching my own leather workshops!

How did you come up with your business name?

I like to say that I was "Born to be Mild" because I'm a very low energy, introverted person. My ideal Friday nights are hanging in with my pets. If I must go to a large social gathering, I need at lest 2 business days to recharge. "Tofu" was my mom's nickname for me, because I was a small pale and pasty child. She sadly passed away when I was 18, so this was a way for me to have her be a part of my great pottery adventure. The irony is that I actually hate eating tofu.

What do you wish customers knew about you or your business?

I am that "crazy animal lady". I have a dog (Rosie), cat (Cairo), and two snakes (Yvonne and Cora). I've also fostered 30+ dogs, 2 kittens, 2 rats and 2 snakes. You can find this part of me reflected in my Mean Muggin' series because I think a lot of people can relate with mugs that say, "Can I pet your dog" and "I'd rather be with my cat".

How did you come up with your business name?

NOC Ceramics got it's simple name from the initials of my not-so-simple to pronounce Gaelic name. Being an immigrant to Canada, I like to preserve any element of my Irish heritage as best I can.

How do you stay creative?

Having grown up in a rural village along the Irish coast, I have spent much time in, on and looking out at the sea, surrounded by beautiful beach trails and stunning scenery everywhere you look.

And now living in the city (Vancouver), I have found that something in me is pulling me to go to the beach and spend time taking in the sea breeze, sounds of the tide and all the beauty it displays.

So it’s no surprise that my work has been inspired by the blue tones and shapes of the seashore and it helps to feed my creativity.

When my partner and I thought up Poplin & Co. we wanted to create a brand for designers and creatives that focuses on responsibly-made, expressive, hand-drawn Limited Edition prints.

Poplin & Co. lives and breathes prints. We digitally print our designs on one highly durable, pre-shrunk, and machine-washable premium cotton fabric to greatly reduce water waste. We produce in small batches of 100-200 pcs of each style to offer exclusivity and to reduce overproduction. And we also use master seamstresses from ethical factories to ensure that each shirt is crafted to perfection. This is how we ensure we create an amazing product at an affordable price.

How did you come up with your business name?

Poplin is the name of the cotton weave we use in all our products. This is the blank canvas that all our designs are put on and what allows us to express ourselves through our prints. We thought this would make a fitting name for our brand.

I love sitting in coffee shops and letting the world stroll by. Anything can spark a creative design moment for me, just by the simplest shadow or crack in a pavement. I love seeing what women strolling around the city are wearing, it always sparks a creativity in my soul.

How did you come up with your business name?

I really like sloths because they remind me to slooowww down and to focus on exerting energy in things that serves me well. Brewing and drinking coffee is a very sensory experience for me, one that allows me to slow down and get in touch with the present moment.

Tell us about how your product is made. What is your favourite part?

The process involves handcrafting lattes with espresso and steamed milk. Drawings and writings are then etched on the latte's foam with food colouring. To capture the latte art's fleeting beauty, a photo is taken of the coffee. My favourite part of the process is seeing the final results and then getting to drink the latte afterwards!

My daughter gives me ideas. I create a prototype/sample. Then my daughter gives me feedback to make the sample be more prettier and practical. Then I modify and beautify them.

We have become used to purchasing clothings and products at the labour cost of China, Bangladesh, India, etc. So when I present my products, they cover basic material costs, and my labour is barely included. Each product takes average of 8-12 hours per piece. So each product is made with LOTS OF LOVE, literally.

I was looking for a creative business to do and came across an ad for laser engravers. So I put together the creative side and the technology side.

Talann was a very special Irish Wolfhound who passed away while I was setting up the business. As well honouring his memory it's a unique name.

How do you stay creative?

Strangely enough, a good night's sleep usually helps. And sometimes it's just something I've seen that triggers an idea.

A lot of names were tossed into the hat when planning first started. We landed on "The Conscious K9" because we stay mindful of where our ingredients come from, what packaging we chose and the numerous common allergies and health needs of our four-legged besties. Our name really sums that all up!

My name is Angeline and I'm the co-founder of The Pawlosophy. We're a dog care brand that aims to bridge convenience and health by re-imagining conventional dog supplies.

How did you come up with your business name?

I wanted a name that speaks for what the brand is and my partner came up with Pawlosophy ( a paw philosophy)

How did you get started?

The Pawlosophy is inspired by my dog. When he was still a puppy, I was struggling to clean his paws and as someone who has a busy lifestyle, it was hard having to groom my dog every so often. Our Paw Cleansing Foam is made to make it convenient for dog owners to clean their dog's paws and keep them moisturized and soothed.

Give us a brief snapshot of “a day in your life”

Everyday is a little different since I'm still a student so I work on The Pawlosophy after classes. Usually I start packing orders, manage social media, answer emails, etc after 3pm.

I get to meet so many dogs!!

How did you come up with your business name?

Nastasia (Dominic's partner and co-founder)

recommended we name the company two brothers... one brothers for the original almond toffee recipe and the second brother for creating of various toffees.

How did you get started?

In 2020 we started with a simple website and at a community commissary kitchen making toffee and selling online.

Tell us about how your product is made. What is your favourite part?

By hand and kettle. The best part is the toffee finished the next day, it a solid slab of art.

How do you stay creative?

Imagine a taste and if you like it... maybe someone else will like the taste as well... then we think... can we sell it?

As you navigate this unexpected trail, you start to realize that everything you've been through in life has been leading you right to this moment. It's a destination you couldn't have predicted or even dreamed of. This is the story of Urbanwalls - a journey unexpected surprises.

Picture it: It's 2009, and I've just become a mother for the second time. With my husband often away on business trips, I found myself craving a creative outlet to channel my 10 years of graphic design and printing experience. As a stay-at-home mom, free time was a luxury, but I had nights and a huge cutter gathering dust in the garage.

Little did I know, those nights and that cutter would become the spark that ignited our unexpected path. It was the beginning of something incredible - a venture that would infuse our lives with passion, purpose, and breathtaking design.

Fast Forward: Our baby girl comes into our lives, and my husband Paul decides to quit his job to focus on marketing and production for our very own company, Urbanwalls. It's amazing how far we've come, starting from scratch and learning the ins and outs of running a business. And we couldn't have done it without the support of awesome brands, a network of brilliant people, a fantastic team, and countless influencers who joined forces with us.

Urbanwalls has become something bigger than I ever imagined back when I was hunched over my old cutter in the garage.But no matter how far we've come, one thing remains the same - our love for creating beautifully designed spaces. Inspired by our children and the little corners of our own homes that often get overlooked, I'm always asking myself how we can make them better. How can we transform a house into a true home, or an office into a peaceful retreat? It's a passion that drives us every day.With love, Danielle

WalkingDot specializes in cozy contemporary crochet, including hats, scarves, cup cozies, and more, where all items are crafted by hand and heart. I believe in crocheting high quality items that are long-lasting as well as stylish and well designed.

How did you come up with your business name?

The name WalkingDot was inspired by a quote from artist Paul Klee, “A line is a dot that went for a walk.” The idea for the name stemmed from memories and memorable design, which led me to think about stories, communication, connections, and finally, paths, lines, and dots.

How did you get started?

I learned how to crochet from my Oma when I was a child, but didn’t get back into it until my niece was born in 2013 and I crocheted her a baby blanket. In 2014, I had a bad experience at a graphic design internship and crocheting brought me out of a deep depression.
