Get your hands dirty and explore the creative facets of pottery with Camille Castronovo. Learn to use the potter's wheel (or add additional skills if you're at an intermediate level) to make these essential daily forms such as drinking and serving vessels. Most cooking classes meet at Central Valley High School, 160 Baker Rd. Ext., in the Home Economics Room – Classroom South D20/first room on left. Make the first right at CVHS main entrance (parking lot next to Rudy Gradisek baseball field) and enter the Central Administration doors.

English muffins and crumpets are traditional breakfast and tea time treats. Both griddle cakes have nooks and crannies for absorbing melted butter and delicious jams. The English muffin dough can also be made into a loaf. This class will prepare all three types for you to enjoy with a cup of tea! Bring an apron and take home containers.

Turn your relationship with chocolate from a mild flirtation into a full blown love affair! You’ll learn how chocolate is made, different types of chocolate and how to properly temper. Tips and techniques will be demonstrated on how to make fabulous chocolate ganache and truffles. Make pierogis from scratch using a 75-year old Polish recipe that has been perfected over the years. Please bring an apron, rolling pin and large take home container.

Portugal has produced not only an array of wines in this region (yes you have to make good still wine to make excellent Port) but an amazing geographic area where the terroir is amazingly diverse. Talk about Old World wine… this region boasts “grapes are thought to have been planted in this area for at least 4000 years.”

GREAT FOR GIFTS Meet our Featured Instructor: Catherine Roth Catherine enjoys teaching yoga, cardio-kickboxing, martial arts and self-defense. With ten years of teaching yoga, Catherine is a Certified Yoga Instructor and a Third Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do (Korean Martial Arts). Catherine also has a Fitness Trainer Certification from the International Sports Science Association. Aside from her time teaching at CCBC, Catherine is the owner of American Lotus, a fitness training company, and a Martial Arts Instructor at Pittsburgh Martial Arts-Beaver Valley. Catherine’s teaching methods are simple, practical and effective, emphasizing discipline, consistency over intensity and taking care of oneself. A former chain smoker and drive-thru food junkie, fitness inspired her to trade in bad habits for good ones. Like the American Lotus we can all rise from the mud and blossom into the best version of ourselves.

This course prepares eligible students for one of several Nursing or Health Professional Pre-Admission Exams: (HESI) - Health Education Systems Incorporated Admission Assessment, (TEAS) - Test of Essential Academic Skills, (NLN) - National League for Nursing Pre-Admission Exam, (NET) - Nursing Entrance Test, (PSB) - Psychological Services Bureau Health Occupations Aptitude Exam or (HOBET) - Health Occupation Basic Entrance Test. These standardized tests assess basic academic skills needed to succeed in a select health occupation program and are used as one tool of acceptance into most Nursing or Health Professional programs.
