CCBC AT A GLANCE: MEET ALYSSA In her speech at commencement, Alyssa Miles expressed her gratitude to the college that not only helped her achieve some of her academic goals but let her grow as a person all at the same time. Alyssa earned an associate degree in science-education pre-K-4 and is now off to the Slippery Rock University where she’ll work toward her master’s degree in the same field with a minor in special education, on her way to a career as a kindergarten teacher. Carried financially through her two years at CCBC by a Presidential Scholarship, she finished with a 3.95 GPA, high enough to earn a spot on the Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges All-Pennsylvania Academic Transfer team. CCBC also gave her the chance to accumulate 210 hours of field experience, in addition to volunteering more than 100 hours of community service. “It was an amazing experience, and one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I wasn’t ready to go out on my own. CCBC gave me time to mature and to discover who I could be and what I could do.”

In fact, with over 600 transfer agreements in place with colleges and universities both locally and nationally, you can start here and go anywhere. Any program with the acronym TAOC indicates that this particular CCBC major is a Pennsylvania Transfer and Articulation Center (TAOC) approved Associate Degree program allowing you to take your credits with you to any participating institution after graduation.
