2016

Cyr's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Tackling the Opioid Epidemic

  • As State Senator, I resolve to:
  • Deliver more treatment beds on the Cape and finally establish treatment on the Islands
  • Promote legislation that cares for the whole person by providing long term treatment

Affordability for All Ages

  • I intend to work tirelessly with the voters in this district to envision and realize a 21st century Cape and Islands where all are welcome and all can thrive. I will strive to:
  • Fund programs that incentivize the development of rental housing that’s financially attainable and available to residents of all ages, both low and middle income
  • Establish tax free saving accounts for first-time homeowners, so that those who want to make a future on the Cape & Island have a shot at buying stable housing

Protecting Our Residents and Environment

  • As the next Senator from the Cape and Islands, I will advocate to:
  • Push for the immediate closure and swift decommissioning of Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station
  • Retool state standards to respond to our unique geography and hydrology, including provisions that protect our sole-source aquifer from pesticides and emerging contaminants and mitigate nitrogen and fertilizers in our waterways

Economic Opportunity

  • As Senator, I will:
  • Search out new partnerships to bring statewide research and development resources to our local scientific and healthcare institutions
  • Provide the tools our small business community needs to grow - especially big ticket items like new workforce housing and expanded wastewater infrastructure

Stability for Seniors

  • As State Senator, I will push to:
  • Host innovative health care pilot programs on the Cape - such as exploring how telemedicine could help keep seniors in their homes longer and out of more costly hospitals or nursing homes away from their friends and neighbors[5]
—Julian Cyr, [6]

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Massachusetts

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of Massachusetts scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
