Kitchel (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Vermont State Senate to represent Caledonia District. She will not appear on the ballot for the Democratic primary on August 13, 2024.

Biography
Kitchel earned her A.B. from Wilson College in 1976.
Kitchel has worked as both a social worker and deputy commissioner for the Vermont Department of Social Welfare.

Elections for the Vermont State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election took place on August 26, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 12, 2014. Caledonia has two state senators. Incumbent Jane Kitchel and Mike Heath were unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbent Joe Benning was unopposed in the Republican primary. Kitchel and Heath defeated Benning in the general election.[5]

Kitchel won re-election in the 2012 election for Vermont State Senate Caledonia District. Kitchel was unopposed in the August 28 Democratic primary and won re-election in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[6]

Kitchel ran for re-election to the 6th District Seat (Caledonia District) in 2010. She ran against Matthew Choate in the primary. She defeated Charlie Bucknam (R), Matthew Choate (D), and Harvey Otterman (I) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[6]
2008
On November 4, 2008, Kitchel won re-election by finishing first for the two-seat Caledonia District of the Vermont State Senate, receiving 12,097 votes ahead of Democrat Matthew Choate (8,975), Republicans John Hall (7,683) and John Kascenska (4,242), and write-ins (24).[6]
Kitchel raised $11,851 for her campaign, against $15,571 by Hartwell, $8,185 by Hall, and $5,524 by Kascenska.[7]
