Perry is a former Democratic member of the Maine State Senate. He served in the state Senate from 2004 to 2010. Before his time as Senator, Perry served in the Maine House of Representatives from 1996 to 2004.

Joseph Perry lives in Bangor, Maine. Perry's career experience includes owning a convenience store.[1]

Perry lost his bid for re-election to the 32nd District seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. Nichi Farnham ran for the seat on the Republican ticket. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[2]
