Bill Carris
Bill Carris (b. August 23, 1944) is a former Democratic member of the Vermont State Senate, representing the Rutland District from 2007 to 2012. Carris resigned on December 17, 2012, citing continued back and ankle pain after surgery.[1] Carris served as Senate Majority Leader from 2011 to his resignation.
Biography
Carris served in the United States Army. His professional experience includes working as owner and operator of Carris Reels. Carris earned his bachelor's degree from Castleton State College.

Carris won re-election in the 2012 election for Vermont State Senate Rutland District. Carris was unopposed in the August 28 Democratic primary and was unopposed in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2]
2010

Carris ran for re-election to the 20th District Seat (Rutland District) in 2010. He ran against Bob Baird in the primary. He defeated Thomas Deply (R), Cheryl Hooker (R), Bob Baird (D), William Cruikshank (I), and Dennis Morrisseau (I) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[3]
2008
On November 4, 2008, Carris won re-election by finishing first for the three-seat Rutland District of the Vermont State Senate, receiving 16,194 votes ahead of Republicans Hull Maynard (13,077) and Kevin Mullin (12,783), Democrats Cheryl Hooker (11,869) and Hope Blucher (9,945), Republican Gregory Decker (6,117), and write-ins (44).[4]
Carris raised $8,615 for his campaign, against $6,670 by Maynard, $14,955 by Mullin, $12,084 by Hooker, $9,912 by Blucher, and $1,625 by Decker.[5]
