Eldred French
Eldred French (b. April 19, 1946) is a former Democratic member of the Vermont State Senate, representing the Rutland District from January 22, 2013, to 2015. He was appointed to replace Bill Carris, who resigned for health reasons in December 2012.[1]
French is a former member of the Vermont House of Representatives, representing Rutland-3 from 2009 to 2013.
Biography
French earned his B.A. from Tufts University in 1968.
French has worked as owner/operator of Acorn Tree Service since 1975. He is an arborist.
French has also served as Town Moderator for the Town of Cuttingsville.

Elections for the Vermont State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election took place on August 26, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 12, 2014. Rutland has three state senators. Incumbent Eldred French, William Tracy Carris and Anissa Delauri were unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbent Kevin Mullin, incumbent Peg Flory and Brian Collamore were unopposed in the Republican primary. Kelly Socia ran as a Vermont Politically Incorrect Party candidate.[2][3][4][5] Collamore, Flory and Mullin defeated French, Carris, Delauri, and Socia in the general election.[6]

French ran for re-election in the 2012 election for Vermont House of Representatives Rutland-Windsor 2. French was unopposed in the August 28 Democratic primary and was defeated by incumbent Dennis Devereux (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[7]
2010
French ran for re-election to the Rutland 3 District in 2010. He defeated Nelson Tift (R) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[7]
