The article deals with the critical situation of Assyrian Christians in Mesopotamia. It describes the details of a persecution that has become one of the biggest concern in Middle East and it gradually is moving to the western countries that until recent attempts have not considered it in a serious way. Moreover, the work informs about the real history of the original inhabitants of Mesopotamia, who have never been called according their ethnical origin but rather they are known according their religious belonging.

Assyrian Christians, Dr. Aaron M. Butts: A RebuttalIn his research titled Assyrian Christians, Dr. Aaron M. Butts chronicles the supposed events that led to the propagation and adoption of the Assyrian identity by Syriac Christians, both East Syriac and West Syriac. The author of this article will consider and present conflicting evidence that not only stand in contradiction to Dr. Butts’ argument but shall also demonstrate how the Assyrian identity, contrary to the aforementioned hypothesis, did indeed survive post-empire.
The Downside Review
Dominican contributions to Christian life in Mesopotamia-Iraq (c. 1750-2017)2018 •
A community of particular significance in the development of Mesopotamian-Iraqi Christian life in the modern era was (and is) the Dominican Order which has had a sustained presence since the 18th century. This article serves as an overview of Dominican contributions to Syriac Christian life in Mesopotamia and reflects on the Order's presence as part of the traditional plurality of Iraqi society. Notwithstanding the rise of Da'esh/ISIL since June 2014 multiple religious traditions continue to exist in Iraq. The willingness of wider Iraqi society to accept a Christian presence is easily forgotten in contemporary narratives which focus on sectarian discourses and avoid acknowledging that the Middle East is not dichotomous in perpetuity: there are wider considerations than Jewish-Muslim, Arab-Kurd, Arab-Persian &c. Moreover, while Islam is an ever present reality in the modern and contemporary Middle East, it is not the only reality.
