The acclaimed survival videogame The Long Dark is ready to jump to the big screen.

Resident Evil producer Jeremy Bolt has partnered with videogame studio Hinterland for a live-action film adaptation of the game, which has hints of properties such as The Walking Dead and The Road

The game has already sold 1.3 million copies ahead of its official Playstation 4 release Tuesday, and has been building buzz for several years after an alpha version was released to ravenous fans.

Disney's 'Jungle Cruise' Movie Finds Director

The Shallows helmer Jaume Collet-Serra will direct Dwayne Johnson in the action-adventure based on the classic Disneyland ride.

‘Shrek,’ ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’ Directors Tapped for Animated Movies From Skydance

Skydance Media has hired directors for its first animated movies with “Shrek” helmer Vicky Jenson attached to “Split” and “Kung Fu Panda 3” co-director Alessandro Carloni on “Luck.”

Monday’s announcement comes four months after Skydance disclosed it had launched an animated division and formed a multi-year partnership with Madrid-based Ilion Animation Studios to develop and produce a slate of animated feature films and TV series. It had announced at that point that Linda Woolverton would write “Split” and Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger would write “Luck.”

Skydance said it plans to release both films in partnership with Ilion.

Harvey Keitel, Liam McIntyre and newcomer Jenia Tanaeva are starring in the independent romantic drama “See You Soon,” currently filming in Europe and Russia.

David Mahmoudieh is making his feature directorial debut from a script co-written by Tanaeva and Mike Cestari and revisions by Joe Ballarini. Tanaeva is also producing with Monella Kaplan for eMotion Entertainment, with Alexander Mikhalskiy executive producing.

“See You Soon” follows a U.S. soccer star who, after suffering a career-threatening injury in the run-up to the 2018 World Cup, embarks on an unexpected journey of self-discovery and gives true love a chance. The film also stars “Downton Abbey” star Poppy Drayton, Oleg Taktarov, retired Spanish soccer star Carles Puyol, and Larissa Malevannaya.

Gunpowder & Sky has acquired Tyler MacIntyre’s Tragedy Girls

The film centres on two death-obsessed teens, played by Alexandra Shipp and Brianna Hildebrand, who use their online show about real-life tragedies to send their small midwestern town into frenzy and cement their legacy as modern horror legends. 

The Exchange handles international sales on the film that premiered at SXSW.

MacIntyre also co-wrote the script with Chris Lee Hill. The film is MacIntyre’s second feature following his debut Patchwork, which won Best Picture at Screamfest in 2015.

Tragedy Girls is produced by The Comeback Kids and New Artist Pictures, in association with Ardor Pictures.
