Statistics

The Department was originally formed in 1964 as the Department of Statistics and Computer Science and remained such until 1984. We have retained that strong emphasis on computing and maintain our own state-of-the-art computing network. In addition, we have maintained the three-fold mission of teaching, research, and service.

Theater and Film Studies

The Department of Theatre and Film Studies offers four degree programs: two are Bachelor of Arts degrees, one in drama and the other in film studies, and two are graduate degrees, the Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.), and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). Both bachelor's degrees are liberal arts degrees providing an exposure to sciences, the humanities and the arts while also allowing a concentration in drama or film studies.

African Studies Institute

The mission of the African Studies Institute embraces enhancement of the teaching of courses with a rich African content; initiation of new courses and degree programs in African Studies; expansion of current and the creation of new studies abroad programs; providing for and assisting student and faculty exchanges; encouraging collaboration in research opportunities in and about Africa; and developing continuing education and outreach programs between African institutions, other Georgia and US institutions, and the University of Georgia.
