OW IT BEGAN. In 1971, Larry Hewitt purchased Bauer Welding Shop in Nicollet, Minnesota. A typical work day consisted of welding, machining, automotive repair or fixing and selling lawn mowers. Hewitt’s business may have remained small if it were not for a friend with a back injury who approached him with a request to build a dock that would be easier to put in and out of the water. Together, they did some brainstorming, consulted a do-it-yourself book and studied the construction of rafters that Hewitt’s uncle used in his metal business. Setting to work, Hewitt built a 64-foot-long dock that rolled on two sets of car tires. The dock’s construction featured light-duty steel building trusses instead of conventional lumber. That single dock changed everything. Today, Hewitt Machine & Mfg. Inc. is known to marine dealers as an industry leader in dock and boat lift design. While still located in the town of Nicollet, the small welding shop has grown into a 350,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility. Annually, the company employs 80 full-time and seasonal workers. Hewitt docks, lifts and associated products are sold through a dealer network that covers the United States and extends into Canada, Belgium and Holland.

Roll-A-Dock is simply the fastest and easiest way to get full enjoyment from your waterfront property. In cold climates, there’s no need to endure frigid water – just roll it in and you’re ready for action. Roll-A-Dock is ideally suited to gradual slopes and works equally well on soft or rocky bottoms. A basic dock can be easily placed using a vehicle or installed in a matter of minutes by as few as two people.

With the strength of its design, Roll-A-Dock can be extended to virtually any length you need. The basic starter unit is a 16-foot-long wheel-end assembly. 4’, 8’ and 16’ add-on sections can be connected to make a single free-span dock up to 48’ long. For greater lengths, simply install a dock hinge and continue adding sections with wheel kits and supports. Ramps, triangular sections and side sections are also available to complete your installation. Roll-A-Dock will provide a lifetime of service. All-aluminum frames, galvanized steel frames and all other components have been designed for low maintenance and superior resistance to corrosion.

DESIGN YOUR OWN DOCK LAYOUT

A built-in winch with removable hand crank allows quick height adjustment for different depths or changing water levels. Adjustments are easily made without ever stepping into the water. Standard Model adjusts from 2-1/2’ to 5-1/2’. Deep Water Kit adjusts from 2-1/2’ to 8’.

While some portable docks are as narrow as 36”, Roll-ADock gives you the choice of 4’ or 6’ wide models - plenty of room for people to meet and pass. Select all-aluminum construction for low weight and easy handling or galvanized steel for maximum strength.

Roll-A-Dock is easily lengthened with add-on sections or expanded to form “T”s, “L”s or side platforms. A wide variety of accessories are also available.

Decking allows sun to shine through to water below. Less shade from the dock means better water visibility below the dock.

BRIDGED FRAMEWORK

This design provides maximum strength with a minimum of weight. The open sides of the frame also improve stability by reducing wave resistance.

STRONG CONNECTIONS

There is no loss of strength, even at the joints. This design makes it possible to have a steel frame dock up to 32’ in length that requires no extra supports.

POPULAR LAYOUTS Add-on sections can be attached to one or both sides. Available sizes: 2’, 4’, 6’ widths, and 4’, 8’, 12’, 16’ lengths. Custom sizes also available. Single or double wings with or without triangle.

INBOARD MOUNTED WINCH AND CABLE

The height adjusting winch is operated with a removable hand crank. Height adjustments can be made while standing on the deck.

The height adjusting winch and cable is located inside the dock frame for greater safety. There are no exposed parts to damage your boat when you pull along side.

DOUBLE BRACING

Unique “V” type bracing reduces the clear span on a 32’ dock to only 21’. This design gives the wheel assembly superior strength and assures maximum stability on soft or rocky bottoms.

SECTIONAL DOCK™ Economical Modular Post and Plank System Hewitt Sectional Dock Systems offer greater economy, quick setup and minimal maintenance. Frames and decking are pre-assembled in easy-to-handle modules. The aluminum sides wrap around the decking to maintain a crisp, clean appearance. Dock sections are 8’ and 10’ long and come in both 4’ and 6’ widths. Sections may be joined end-to-end or turned at right angles to form “L”s, “T”s, and platforms. Frames, poles and brackets are all made from rustproof, corrosion-resistant aluminum and never need painting.

VERS-A-DOCK™ Uniquely Designed, Lightweight Modules for Easy Assembly Hewitt Vers-A-Dock sectional dock systems offer many advantages over traditional post and plank docks. Modular components simplify setup, changes and removal. With smaller, lightweight frames and 4’ x 4’ drop-in deck sections, one person can easily assemble an entire dock. A 4’ x 8’ frame section weighs just 38 lbs (54 lbs with two poles attached), and deck sections are only 36 lbs each. Vers-A-Dock also features inside post mounts for a smooth side wall with no protruding parts that could damage boats. Vers-A-Docks require little or no maintenance.

SOLID CONSTRUCTION

Vers-A-Dock modular frames are made from high-strength, double-wall aluminum extrusions and reinforced with a full-length center beam and crossbar. Poles, pole brackets, section clamps and base plates are also made from corrosion-resistant aluminum.

Hewitt Floating Docks are supported by float tanks that are so reliable they meet U.S. Military specifications. The tanks are comprised of EPS foam encased in a seamless, heavy-duty polyethylene shell. Tanks are resistant to cracking and corrosion and are suitable for year-round use. They can even be left out during the winter. Float tanks are available in a wide range of sizes with different load-carrying capacities.

Poorly built lifts can sway or even break when subjected to frequent use, but Hewitt lifts are built for the real world. Crossbars are reinforced on top and bottom with extra large gussets welded to both sides for greater lateral stability and overall strength.

Lesser brands simply bolt pulleys to the frame, but Hewitt pulley assemblies are mounted in specially designed, reinforced plate-aluminum enclosures welded directly to the frame. Cantilever lifts also use fewer pulleys and all parts are easily accessible for reduced maintenance.

The original Hewitt cantilever lift continues to be one of our most popular models. These rugged, general purpose lifts have a natural mechanical advantage that actually makes operation easier as the boat is raised higher. Cantilever lifts also have a long history of trouble-free performance. They require fewer moving parts for superior reliability and place less stress on pulleys and cables. In the fully raised position, cables carry no weight as the load is entirely supported by the frame. Corrosion-resistant aluminum construction also assures low maintenance – no rust, no painting.

HYDRAULIC CANTILEVER LIFT Imagine pressing a button on a key-fob remote control as you walk to your dock and having your boat in the water and ready to go when you arrive. That’s the convenience and sophistication you get with a Hewitt hydraulic cantilever lift. Based on our standard cantilever design, these lifts can rest dockside in as little as 24” of water, perfect for use with shorter docks. Available in 3900 lb and 5200 lb capacity models. Hewitt hydraulic boatlifts are the shallowest boatlift in the industry since 2001 operating with water levels only 6” deep.

FRAME COMPONENTS The corrosion-resistant, all-aluminum frame includes two full-length adjustable bunks, keel protector and four 3’ adjustable-height leveling legs with stainless steel quickrelease pins. Aluminum and welds are covered by an exceptional 15-year warranty. Four optional conversion kits available for pontoon boats. HYDRAULIC PUMP CHEST & REMOTE CONTROL

EXTERNAL FILTER

Sealed twin hydraulic cylinders feature triple chrome-plated shafts, waterproof synthetic hose and biodegradable hydraulic fluid. The cylinders are mounted on double-reinforced uprights and pivot on large torsion pins (not bolts). In the lift’s up position, the cylinders are raised completely out of the water.

Hydraulic systems are available for use with 220V AC or 12V and 24V DC power supplies. The average run time to lift a boat 38-1/2” is 63 seconds. Comes standard with two key-fob remote controls and a locking, water-resistant chest. The chest can neatly house the battery (not included) for a DC system. Options include a solar cell battery charger and space-saving pump chest stand.

Particle contamination of hydraulic oil reduces the service life of hydraulic components. This external filter is key to keeping your hydraulic oil clean and pump running smoothly without having to remove the reservoir to access the in-tank filter found on all competitor pumps.

The Hewitt Hi-Lift is an economical, direct vertical rise lift ideally suited for deeper water applications or sites where water levels may fluctuate. These lifts are based on simple, proven technology but are distinguished by Hewitt’s rock-solid construction and unique frame design, incorporating side bars that provide easier boat access and greater stability than typical “V”-style designs. While the competition’s adjustable side bars limit maximum lift height, Hewitt’s twelve different Hi-Lift models provide lifting capacities ranging from 1100 lbs to 10,000 lbs.

BUNK SYSTEMS

The Model HL1100 and HL1600 are equipped with Dutton Lainson winches, with respective 4:1 and 6:1 gear ratios. Models HL2600 to HL5600 are equipped with Hewitt high-efficiency winches, with 15:1 and 20:1 ratios. All manual winches include a 40” aluminum winch wheel with spinner knob. Larger models from the HL6600 to HL8000 come standard with a heavy-duty electric winch. An optional 25:1 manual winch with wheel is also available for the HL6600. See pages 104 and 105 for more winch options and information. HL10,000 comes standard with an E-drive 220V Electric motor or optional 24V motor.

For lighter craft the HL1100 and HL1600 include four non-scratch cradles and two keel protectors. Models from the HL2600 to HL6600 are equipped with fulllength, carpeted bunks and two keel protectors. Carpeted aluminum V-bunks are standard on the HL8000 and HL10,000. Hewitt hydraulic lifts offer the push-button convenience and remote control operation of our standard cantilever hydraulic models, plus faster cycle times and higher capacities, which range from 4400 lbs to a massive 24,100 lbs. All lifts have corrosion-resistant, all-aluminum frames and include a locking, water-resistant chest for housing the hydraulic pump and control system. With optional bracing and leg kits, these lifts can be used in water up to 10’ deep. All sizes are available in 220V AC and 12V or 24V DC battery powered models. A wide range of optional equipment is also available, including solar cell battery chargers, lighting kits, pump box stand, canopies and more. Lift heights for all models is 77-1/2” with the exception of Models 4400 and 6100 which are available in 54” and 76” lift heights. Hewitt hydraulic lifts are engineered to raise their maximum rated loads through the full arc of travel without hesitation. Hydraulics are optimized to provide the fastest operating speed in the industry without increasing pressure and over-stressing the pump.

EXTERNAL FILTER

MARINE QUALITY HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS

All models include a locking, water-resistant chest that houses the hydraulic pump and control system. For DC models, the chest also provides storage space for batteries. Lifts can either be operated with the push-button controls within the chest or with the convenient key fob remote controls. The hydraulic system uses biodegradable hydraulic fluid that will not harm lakes or rivers. The fluid’s anti-freezing properties also simplify winter storage. A translucent fluid reservoir makes it easy to check fluid level at a glance.

Filter is standard on 4,400 to 8,100 pumps. Particle contamination of hydraulic oil reduces the service life of hydraulic components. This external filter is key to keeping your hydraulic oil clean and pump running smoothly without having to remove the reservoir to access the in-tank filter found on all competitor pumps.

Aluminum cylinders with solid stainless steel shafts are standard on 4400, 6100, 8100, 18,100 and 24,100 lb lifts. Commercial grade steel cylinders with triple-chrome shafts are standard on 10,100 and 12,100 lb lifts. All cylinders have long-lasting seals with scrapers designed for underwater use and hoses with water-resistant covering. Pinned end caps allow access to the cylinders if repairs are ever required, a cost advantage over welded cylinders.

The Hewitt 12,100 lb, 18,100 lb and 24,100 lb models are a special class of hydraulic lifts. Designed to provide superior stability for large craft while retaining the speed and convenient operation of our smaller lifts, these models add a larger capacity hydraulic pump, heavier gauge aluminum and extra bracing. Describing them as heavy-duty is an understatement. All main frame members are 3-3/4” x 7-1/2” structural aluminum tubing with a .345” wall thickness. Tubing for the lift arm uprights is a full 3/8” thick. Models are equipped with four 3-1/2” sq. x 48” long leveling legs and fully adjustable aluminum/rubber bunks. Lift height is 77-1/2”. BoatPort lifts may be installed on almost any structurally sound aluminum, steel or wood floating dock that has an “L” or “U”-shaped configuration where there is at least one walkway finger or pier extending down the side of the boat. Lift operation requires access to a 115V AC receptacle. Optionally, a small portable generator or 24V battery may be used to power the pump lift. BoatPort lifts can also be installed on stationary docks provided water levels do not rise or fall more than a total of 16”.

Eight simple screws and one quick-connect plug are all that fasten the electronics to the rest of the Boat Lift Boss, making it all possible to change the entire electrical system in less than two minutes. This feature is especially helpful when a customer wishes to add a wireless remote control to their existing Boat Lift Boss.

HDPE Cable Keeper

• When there is no load on the winch, cables have the potential to loosen and slip outside of the spool, which the consumer would not recognize until too late. Cables becoming caught in the chains and sprockets can cause expensive damages to the lift and leave it unusable. The HDPE Cable Keeper eliminates this possibility by keeping the cable fully contained in the spool where it belongs.

PONTOON LEGS®

Lifts that Travel With You Hewitt hydraulic Pontoon Legs are available in two models to best match the size, style and operating conditions of your pontoon boat. These models help preserve the appearance and value of your pontoon, eliminate the need to tie off your boat and free up space at your dock. In addition to Hewitt’s trademark heavy-duty aluminum construction, these models feature 2” diameter hydraulic cylinders which are 20% stronger than those of competitors. The hydraulic system is powered by a 12V DC pump and uses environmentally friendly, biodegradable fluid.

DESIGNED TO WORK WITH YOUR BOAT AND TRAILER

Leg assemblies are solidly bolted to the existing frame members of your pontoon boat and will not interfere with trailering or normal operation. In the retracted position, legs extend less than 6-1/2” below the deck allowing the use of scissor or bunk style trailers. The Straight Leg and Wide-Base models add approximately 425 lbs with a capacity of 6000 lbs. Each leg assembly stands on a 30”-long, pivoting foot that compensates for uneven terrain and provides excellent stability, even on soft bottoms. At maximum leg extension, the underside of the boat’s deck is 72” above the bottom of the feet.

LIMITED WARRANTY During the periods stated below from the earlier of the date of purchase or the date the product was put into service, Hewitt Machine & Mfg., Inc. (hereinafter “HEWITT”) shall cover the costs of parts needed to repair or replace any of the following products defective in material, workmanship or factory preparation, subject to the limitations and expectations contained herein. 1. 15 year warranty on aluminum welds; excluding floating dock. 2. 5 year warranty on the following: a. BoatPort galvanized steel and welds; b. Vinyl and SeaMark canvases; and c. Aluminum decking. 3. 3 year warranty on BoatPort polyethylene tanks. 4. 2 year warranty on Pontoon Legs parts and components, Floating Dock frames and all other products and accessories (hereinafter the “Warranted Products”). This Limited Warranty is subject to the following limitations and exceptions: 1. This Limited Warranty covers only Warranted Products manufactured by HEWITT. Non-HEWITT manufactured products are sold “ as is,” without warranty of any kind by HEWITT including any express warranty and implied warranty regarding MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND ALL SUCH WARRANTIES ARE DISCLAIMED. The sole warranty, if any, with respect to such non-HEWITT manufactured products is given by the manufacturer or producer thereof. Based upon HEWITT’s knowledge the following warranties are provided by other manufacturers: Boatlift hydraulic pumps and hoses carry a manufacturer’s 2 year warranty. Hydraulic cylinders carry a manufacturer’s 1 year warranty. BoatPort controller carries a manufacturer’s 1 year warranty. However, HEWITT makes no representations or warranties concerning these non-HEWITT manufactured products, and the customer should inquire directly with such third party manufacturers regarding any warranties. 2. This Limited Warranty covers only Warranted Products purchased new by the original purchaser. This Limited Warranty shall not extend to anyone other than the original purchaser of the HEWITT product. 3. This Limited Warranty does not cover the labor costs to repair or replace the Warranted Products.

4. This Limited Warranty does not cover the costs to repair damage to the Warranted Products caused by corrosion, fading and minor deterioration resulting from exposure to the elements, including the sun, environmental factors or acts of God. “Environmental factors” include such things as airborne fallout, chemicals, tree sap, salt, ocean spray, water hazards. “Acts of God” include such things as fire or accident, rainstorms, hailstorms, windstorms, tornadoes, sandstorms, lightning, floods and earthquakes. 5. This Limited Warranty does not cover the costs to repair damage to the Warranted Products caused by abuse, misuse, neglect, poor/improper maintenance, tampering with parts, improper or unauthorized adjustment or alteration. 6. This Limited Warranty does not cover the costs to repair damage to the paint and/or finishes, puncture damage, dents, or scratches of the Warranted Products. 7. This Limited Warranty does not cover the costs of normal/scheduled maintenance of the Warranted Products. 8. This Limited Warranty does not cover the costs to repair damage to the Warranted Products caused by improper installation. 9. This Limited Warranty does not cover the costs to repair damage to the Warranted Products caused by the failure to comply with specifications or instructions. Specifications and instructions are subject to change without notice. 10.HEWITT reserves the right to make changes in the Warranted Products at any time without incurring any obligation under this Limited Warranty to make the same or similar modifications on Warranted Products previously manufactured and/or sold. 11.In the event of a possible warranty claim, the Warranted Product shall be returned to HEWITT. If proven to be defective upon inspection, the defective Warranted Product shall be exchanged for new or comparable rebuilt products, as determined by HEWITT. and shipped back to the original owner/purchaser. All shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. Warranty replacement shall not extend the original warranty period of the defective Warranted Product. HEWITT must be notified in writing within one month of the expiration of the applicable period of the Limited Warranty for an item to be evaluated for warranty. 12.The customer’s remedies with respect to Warranted Products shall be exclusively limited to the repair or replacement remedy as provided in this Limited Warranty and in no event shall HEWITT be liable for loss of profits, revenues, savings, inconvenience, associated costs, expense for equipment or service, use

of capital, facilities, services, storage charges, damage to property, or any other special, incidental or consequential damages caused by the use or misuse of, or inability to use, the Warranted Product, regardless of the legal theory on which the claim is based, and even if HEWITT has been advised of such damages. In no event shall recovery of any kind against HEWITT be greater in amount than the purchase price of the Warranted Product sold by HEWITT and causing the alleged damage. Without limiting the foregoing, the purchaser assumes all risk and liability for loss, damage or injury to persons, animals or property arising out of use or misuse of, or inability to use, the Warranted Product. HEWITT is not liable for third party claims. In no event shall HEWITT be liable for incidental or consequential damages to the full extent such may be disclaimed by law. 13.This Limited Warranty is the only warranty between the parties. This Limited Warranty states the limits and association of risk between two parties. The customer acknowledges and understands this Limited Warranty and agrees to be bound by the terms contained herein. No other express or implied warranties or guaranties, except as indicated in this Limited Warranty, given by any person or entity with respect to HEWITT and its products shall bind HEWITT. This Limited Warranty supersedes all other warranties expressed or implied. NO IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE APPLY TO HEWITT AND ITS PRODUCTS AND ARE HEREBY DISCLAIMED.
