Q. Tell us about you and your business. Where did you originally come from and what made you decide to go into all the businesses you both started?
A. Hello, we’re Brooke and Chelsey. We are Colorado Natives and sisters. We played
golf at the University of Oklahoma and have been in business together for seven years. We specialize in residential projects and invest in real estate in Colorado and Oklahoma. We are the owners of four Restore Hyper Wellness locations in Coloroado and a Ziggi’s Coffee. Chelsey also owns a gym in Berthoud, CO.
Q. What is your favorite part of your business? A. Our PEOPLE! We love building teams and developing people. The best part of our
business is seeing our employees grow personally and professionally and our clients accomplish their health/business goals. A rising tide raises all ships. How can we all be a value-add to one another?
Q. What is your motto or philosophy? A. We don’t chase we attract. What is meant for us will find us. We always get what we want. Money flows in freely.
Q. Why do you both consider your specialty? A. Real Estate. We have been able to parlay our portfolio into cash flowing businesses. We scrape, flip and hold. We also own a variety of units including long term rentals as well as short term. Real estate historically doubles in value every 10 years so our goal is to buy as much as we can and as quickly as possible. Don’t wait to buy real estate, buy real estate and wait!
Q. What is your goal for the next year? A. We want to chill and rest in our decisions from 2023. We opened five brick and mor-
tars and executed two development projects in a calendar year. Balance is unachievable with goals as lofty as ours but harmony can be met. Next year, we will get our second Ziggi’s Coffee location constructed and we plan to further expand our real estate portfolio.
Q. How are you both unique? A. We are Yin and Yang. Brooke is the “breaks” to Chelsey’s “gas peddle”. It’s in our con-
stant recalibration and check-ins where we find the sweet spot and put together the best deals or designs. When we are both all in, and our husbands are ready to rock, you better forget about it! This group is UNSTOPPABLE!
Q. Tell us one thing that no one knows about you: A. Between the two of us, we have six Colorado State Golf Titles (Brooke-4 Chelsey-2). Also, we showed horses when we were young and in 1997 Chelsey was Showmanship Grand Champion and Brooke took Reserve Grand Champion at the Boulder County Fair! At a young age we saw the benefits in partnering and hammering that 1,2 punch! “#bettertogether” is a frequent quote we use!
Q. Tell us about giving back to non-profits: A. We love the Nazarene fund. Human tracking is a multi billion dollar business. Any
give backs we do are all focused on this group, and others, dismantling this disgusting system. No person is for sale!

Have you heard the buzz about Westerly, the new, one-of-a-kind neighborhood in Erie? Westerly is a meticulously planned 400-acre community, featuring approximately 1,200 homes with diverse designs within a traditional neighborhood setting, creating the perfect environment to enjoy a life well lived. Westerly is rooted in the visionary ideas of Tim Downey, founder and CEO of Southern Land Company (the developer of Westerly). Mr. Downey has long admired the Walt Disney Company and the magical experiences it creates for people; and early in his life, he developed a deep appreciation for well-designed, classic neighborhoods from the past that evoke feelings of community and comfort, like Cherry Creek in Denver and Highland Park in Texas. Drawing inspiration from Disney and iconic neighborhoods, as well as his own experience growing up in small-town Farmington, Michigan, Mr. Downey believed new neighborhoods could— and should—offer timelessly beautiful places and truly special experiences. This belief, paired with an immersive, multi-year study of the Erie community, ultimately led Southern Land Company to conceptualize—and now realize—Westerly. Westerly opened to homeowners earlier this year, and it’s already easy to observe the level of thought put into every part of the community. For instance, when planning the layout of Westerly, the design team at Southern Land Company made sure that each park within the community offers views of Longs Peak, no matter where you are standing in the parks. Additionally, while Southern Land Company’s homebuilding group, SLC Homes, is one of the homebuilders in Westerly, the company selected two other accomplished homebuilders with Colorado roots—Brightland Homes and McStain Neighborhoods—to help make Westerly a reality. Together, the three builders deliver carefully constructed, design-centric homes that boast high-end materials, elegant finishes, contemporary conveniences, and gorgeous, intentional landscaping. This approach creates a sense of unity yet variety within the neighborhood.
So, what are some of the specific highlights of Westerly beyond exceptional homes? 1. Upon completion, there will be more than 100 acres of undeveloped open space and trails within the community, offering residents room to explore and enjoy the natural surroundings of Colorado and the active lifestyles we all pursue. 2. Twenty-five acres within Westerly will be set aside as the site of a new St. Vrain Valley School District middle school, which will be highly walkable for students. As a lifelong Coloradan and Erie resident, I am particularly excited about Westerly’s debut and all that is to come. Thoughtful development matters now more than ever, especially as Erie continues to grow. Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Downey and others on the Southern Land Company team, and I visited a collection of Southern Land Company’s masterplanned communities that were launched decades ago and are thriving today. They are remarkably beautiful and vibrant, with striking streetscapes and open spaces, timeless architecture, and active, engaged residents. They are proof that Mr. Downey and his team create extraordinary places, and now Westerly joins the ranks. The Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement 2.0 Act of 2022 (SECURE 2.0) was signed into law on Dec. 29, 2022. This bill is designed to strengthen the retirement savings system by extending and expanding your savings opportunities. INGREDIENTS 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 pound Italian sausage, casing removed 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 medium sweet onion, diced 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 4 cups chicken stock 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce 1 (9-ounce) package refrigerated three cheese tortellini ½ bunch kale, stems removed and leaves chopped 1/3 cup heavy cream 3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil DIRECTIONS Heat olive oil in a large stockpot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add Italian sausage and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the sausage as it cooks; drain excess fat. Stir in garlic, onion and Italian seasoning. Cook, stirring frequently, until onions have become translucent, about 2-3 minutes; season with salt and pepper, to taste. Whisk in flour until lightly browned, about 1 minute. Your mouth should be used for eating, not for breathing. The healthcare community has become increasingly aware of the benefits of nasal breathing. Not only is nasal breathing good for your cardiovascular health, it also supports a stronger immune system and healthier body. But, if your nose is congested or inflamed, it makes it more challenging to breathe through it, especially in Colorado’s dry climate. You should be regularly clearing and cleaning your nose so you can use it for optimal breathing. Within your nose, you have a filtration system that cleans 90% of pathogens (bacteria, viruses, fungi, allergens, etc.) and humidifies the air as it passes through. Cleaner and more moisturized air is what the lungs need. If you breathe through your mouth, you are missing that natural filtration system and forcing your tonsils to filter more than they are capable of, and forcing your lungs to work harder than they need to. Another important function of nasal breathing is the production of nitric oxide, a gas produced in the paranasal sinuses that helps lower blood pressure and improve oxygen delivery throughout the body. Most people have a consistent oral hygiene routine, so why not include nasal hygiene as part of that routine morning and night? Clearing out the congestion by nose blowing is an easy first step, but there are other techniques that can help loosen the congestion and get more debris out of your nose. Humidity helps to loosen the congestion, so blowing your nose (one nostril at a time) right after a hot shower or bath is even more effective. Using other products to flush out the congestion is also very helpful, like a Neti-Pot or a Neil Med nasal cleansing bottle. It is best to follow the instructions provided for those products to ensure safety and efficiency. If you would not eat through your nose, then you should not be breathing through your mouth. Keep your immune system and body strong by maximizing your ability to nasal breathe!

PETS AS GIFTS Jaime Bessko The holiday season is upon us and its that time of year when many people will be giving animals as gifts. Receiving a pet as a gift can either be a dream come true or an eventual nightmare. There are common scenarios that contribute to the success or failure of giving pets as gifts for the holidays. A few tips to consider: If you’re getting a new pet for your family for the holidays, make sure that everyone is in agreement about who will be responsible to take care of the animal. Most of the responsibilities will fall on the adults in the home. Just because you want to surprise your kids with a pet, does not mean they are ready for the responsibility to care for the animal. If the children cannot fulfill their daily animal care responsibilities, the adults need to step in and take over. If the adults are on board with that plan, then go ahead and get the pet for their kids. Don’t expect children to follow through on their commitments or make the animal a priority in their life. As long as the child is still a minor, the adults need to be actively involved in the animal’s welfare. Only surprise your girlfriend or boyfriend with a pet if you are both in agreement and have discussed getting a specific animal together in the near future. Even so, some people want to be involved in selecting their next pet, so surprising a loved one can sometimes backfire .Take a realistic account of how much time you have to commit to your new pet. Some animals are much more maintenance than others. Choose a pet that fits with your lifestyle, schedule and most importantly, your ENERGY LEVEL. If you’re adding a canine friend, be sure to select a dog that has LESS ENERGY that you. In my experience, that seems to be the largest contributing factor towards either a fulfilling or frustrating relationship. There are many animals in local shelters and rescues that are perfectly healthy, ideal companions and are waiting for the right home. Some of my fondest memories include getting new pets and sharing wonderful moments with them. I hope these tips help you in creating beautiful holiday memories and long-lasting loving relationships!
