somewhere on my desk Rick Pearce President/CEO On Friday, June 17, we hosted our Annual Golf Outing. I’d like to thank all the sponsors for their investment in the event/our mission and all the players who enjoyed the day at Shaker Run. The Shaker Run Team did a great job making us feel welcome. The day started overcast but cleared up nicely as the day progressed. Sponsors & winners are listed later in this newsletter; thank you all!

Skills2Careers is being improved quarterly. The concept is simple, match the skills that individuals have with the skills that employers need. We do have the ability to create a more effective job posting for businesses, in essence, including more of the skills that Emsi Burning Glass has in their skills database. If you would like to be included in the “pilot” program, please let me know – 513-422-4551.

Schools Passport To Tomorrow Strategic Plan - MCSD Recently, a team of Middletown City School teachers and administrators tasked with implementing their new strategic plan, toured Cliff, Inc.—Middletown Works and Atrium Medical Center to learn from local employers. The discussion revolved around the skills employers need in their next generation workforce. A big thank you to Cliff, Inc. and Premier Atrium for opening their doors to start this discussion.

Our Region In late May, Chip Hitte (Chamber Chair-Elect) and I attended a meeting sponsored by the Cincinnati Regional USA Chamber to learn more about “our region”. “Our Region” is part of the Cincinnati MSA (metropolitan statistical area) where Middletown is the 3rd largest city behind Hamilton and Cincinnati. In 1950, the Hamilton-Middletown MSA was created and included in the Cincinnati MSA after the 1990 census. In 2013, the Cincinnati-Middletown MSA was renamed the Cincinnati MSA.

“Our Region” has a great deal to offer and we will begin to share that with you in future newsletters.

Legislation In Columbus

Ohio's CSI reviews business-impacting rules, helps businesses navigate regulatory obstacles, and leads initiatives to improve Ohio's regulatory climate. The CSI was formed to propel job and economic growth in Ohio. Unfortunately, we are finding that many business owners across Ohio aren’t aware of the CSI as a resource, so our team is working to spread awareness about their services to the business community.
