somewhere on my desk Rick Pearce President/CEO Our 6th CLIMB Class began their 8-month leadership training in late April and will conclude in November when they will join over 655 graduates over the past 3 decades. A very big thank you to those organizations who have sponsored a participant in this year’s CLIMB Class. A photo of the class is found later in this document. I also want to thank the facilitators who are conducting the leadership sessions.

This week, I celebrate my 9th anniversary at The Chamber. I thank the board at that time for giving me the opportunity to grow in the position and having the faith in me to move the organization in a new direction. The job has been quite challenging and very rewarding. I have met so many good and capable people and have been very fortunate to work closely with many of them. Chambers of commerce trace their roots to 1599 in Marseille, France, developed by the business community to fight a common enemy. That “common enemy” has been many different things over the past 400 years: most recently its been COVID-19 and government regulations.

Don’t forget our Annual Golf Outing on Friday, June 17 at Shaker Run Golf Club. We are encouraging our businesses to invite a client to town for a day on one of the most popular and challenging courses in southwest Ohio. A registration link is later in this document.

spotlight Collaboration and Communication Essential for Combatting Opioid Crisis By: Michael Stecz, Marketing Manager Every day, more than 130 people in the United States die after overdosing on opioids. The abuse of opioids (prescription pain pills, heroin) and synthetic opioids (like fentanyl) is a significant problem for the entire nation. The problem has become top-of-mind in wealthy suburbs and small rural areas alike. Nowadays, these issues don’t start in back alleys, or street corners. They start in legitimate healthcare settings – a doctor’s visit after a broken bone, a dental visit after a particularly invasive procedure. Link to entire article

Legislation In Columbus

Ohio's CSI reviews business-impacting rules, helps businesses navigate regulatory obstacles, and leads initiatives to improve Ohio's regulatory climate. The CSI was formed to propel job and economic growth in Ohio. Unfortunately, we are finding that many business owners across Ohio aren’t aware of the CSI as a resource, so our team is working to spread awareness about their services to the business community.
