LETTER FROM THE Hey Key Clubbies <3 Welcome to the second newsletter of the 2021-2022 service year! April flew by in a snap and I feel like I was just making the March newsletter a week ago. Although this month did not have many events, I know that the May newsletter is going to undergo a major glow up (as we are going to introduce a bunch of new opportunities and service projects). I’m excited to introduce a few new additions in the April newsletter, including Member of the Month, an interactive page with cheesy memes, and our official website! Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns, regarding Key Club or not, at my socials located on the Contact Info page. Cheers to another month of fun key clubbing with my favorite KEYuties! Yours In Service, Erica Jin

KEY CLUBBERS CALLED THEIR CONGRESS MEMBERS AND THE WHITE HOUSE EVERY DAY, FOR 100 DAYS, TO MAKE SURE THEY HEAR OUR DEMANDS AND FEEL THE PRESSURE!

The phoned ogging event was really fun and a great experience to learn mo about docum re entation and immigrants what are currently experiencing. The event was ver y inclusive and enjoyable bec ause of the great leaders that hosted hip the event. I would definit do it again ely because I felt like I was makin a change and g was contrib uting to the population of immigra nts that are suffering und er the hands of the government right now. - Melinda Wa ng (Class of 2024)

The phonedogging event to push administrations to legislate a pathway to citizenship was extremely insightful. Not only was I able to learn more about Citizenship 4 All and their campaign, I got the opportunity to reach out to congress members and the White House to make sure our voices are heard. In collaboration with Francis Lewis, Bayside, and QHSS Key Clubs, it was encouraging to see everyone come together to drive for change towards this issue. - Erica Jin (Class of 2023)

I am very thankful to be named the Key Clubber of the Month for the month of April. I have been a part of Key Club ever since freshman year of high school. Even before entering Townsend, I remember seeing the Key Club booth at the orientation club fair and wanting to join immediately. The cause, purpose, and vision of this club is something that stood out for me to want to be a part of. Being a part of Key Club allowed me to better find out what I want to with my life, what route I want to take in the future. It is a place where I can connect with the rest of the community and give back to those in need or just to the environment itself. Key Club is something that I treasure a lot and is something I wish to continue being a part of in the rest of my high school career. Key Club was a place where I met/got closer to some of my best friends. It also allowed me to make new friends with people who are a part of Key Club in other schools. It is hard to choose just one favorite memory of the club but if I really had too, I would choose the Light the Night event. It was disappointing that this event was online this year. In-person, Light the Night can be labeled as the “biggest event of the year.” Almost everyone went. It was nice to see so many people support the same cause and the scene of all the lanterns was beautiful. To a person who is not in Key Club, you are really missing out! - Amanda Ip Class of 2023
