President's Greetings Hey, Key Clubbers! Firstly, I’d like to welcome all our new members, not only in Key Club but in Townsend as well! In Key Club, you’ll find an incredible community dedicated to giving back. As for our returning members, welcome back! Over the summer, we encouraged sustainable fashion, as well as prepared and distributed various resources like school supplies and food packages for less fortunate communities. Now, let us prepare for a September filled with more excitement and service! First up, we have the Flushing BID event! Just like last year, we're jumping into the diverse food scene, helping vendors, and ensuring everyone gets a taste of Flushing’s deliciousness, including yourself! Plus, free tees? They’re the BEST souvenirs from volunteering, in my opinion. Let’s collect them all this year ;) Following that is the African American Street Fair, packed with literacy, health, and culture. We’ll be painting faces, reading stories, and making sure everything runs smoothly for the live show. The day after, we’ll help out at the African American Parade, handling check-ins, overseeing the VIP area, and enjoying a cultural parade that honors individuals who have contributed to AfricanAmerican culture. To cap off September, we're celebrating more cultural festivities by participating in the Mid-Autumn Festival at the Museum of Chinese in America. Storytelling, mooncake making, and artsy fun await! Join us in monitoring these activities and engaging with various families to help educate young children about Chinese culture! Let’s start the school year off strong! I can’t wait to see you all at these amazing September events and meet new members/students! With that being said, remember to stay Kind and Committed through Key Club!

Yours in Service, 6 PRESIDENT'S GREETING

What are some of your experiences with Key Club? I've been a Key Club member since Freshman year it was a really fun way to meet new people and get service hours at the same time. The events I've been to so far have been really exciting and they've helped be develop various skills in helping the community I live in. MEMBER OF THE MONTH 7

FLUSHING BID

“The Flushing BID Street Festival was a fun experience. Not only did we get to help out, we also got to enjoy the things it offered. Also, the coordinator who was in charge of us was very kind and even got us all breakfast, which he also did last year. They definitely value the volunteers. I would definitely do it again!!” Sally Zheng Class of 2024

AFRICAN AMERICAN STREET FAIR

“The African American Street Fair was a lively celebration of culture, filled with rhythmic music, vibrant dance performances, and a diverse array of flavorful cuisine. It was an enriching experience, and the colorful tapestry of traditions showcased made it an event worth attending again” Chloe Guthrie Class of 2025

“The African American Street fair was fairly short, but something I'd do again. We didn't do much, but the ambiance was nice and the people were friendly.” Hayden Wong Class of 2025
