// Intro Paint The Town is an exciting arts and theatre festival in venues and hidden spaces across Medway, produced by Lyrici Arts in partnership with Battersea Arts Centre. We are back for Season Three – and this time it’s all at The Brook Theatre, Chatham! Join us this October Half Term for a week of brilliant touring theatre shows, public workshops, kids activities, showcase opportunities, pop-up surprises and much more in a packed programme of events. The Brook Theatre café will be open every day for refreshments, with a tasty lunch menu on offer. Do you enjoy live music? Then make sure you head to The Brook at lunchtimes for our Lyrical Lunch sessions, or join the team from Play On Words Theatre Company for A Touch Of Vintage. Arts and Crafts more your thing? Creatabot are joining Paint The Town all week with great hands on activities for you to make and do, or learn the basics in puppetry with the team from Almost Always Muddy. Want to be on the stage? Try your hand at treading the boards with exciting drama workshops from the team behind Ross & Rachel, or learn how to create a piece of theatre with music with the artists from The Castle Builder. Listen Up! – Join us for Talk of the Town - a series of professional creative presentations, workshops and talks by the touring artists staying in residence for Paint The Town. Community Launch Commission: #thisisme by Look Kloser Monday 23 October, 7.30 - 8.15pm

Join us as the Community Launch performance takes to The Brook Theatre stage! Look Kloser presents #thisisme, an exciting dance showcase to celebrate the launch of the Autumn festival at this Chatham treasure.

Access For All Commission: The Opera House Next Door Tuesday 24 October, 7.30 - 9pm

Tickets ÂŁ5 Ages 14+

Fat Lady Opera, Sparked Echo and The Mess Room presents The Opera House Next Door, led by artists: Tania Holland Williams, Wendy Daws, Liz Hayward and Christopher Sacre. Heralding a new approach to staging contemporary opera, it is a part artist-designed interactive archaeological dig complete with tactile props, clues to discover and puzzles to solve. Expect a voyage of operatic discovery. The production has a specific mandate to cater for people with visual impairment. Co commissioned by Medway Council Arts Development Team and Paint The Town Festival.

Access For All Commission Workshop: Tactile Art Thursday 26 October, 11am - 12.30pm FREE ENTRY Ages 5+

Join artists Wendy Daws and Christopher Sacre to create your own tactile art to take home, all materials supplied. You just bring your imagination. This workshop is open to all and is also accessible to people with sight loss and/or are deaf or hard of hearing. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The Castle Builder By Vic Llewellyn and Kid Carpet

Thursday 26 October, 7.30pm. Featuring a post show talk with the cast and creatives, and live musical demonstrations. Friday 27 October, 7pm The Castle Builder tells the true story of an inmate in a Norwegian psychiatric institute who over 5 years built a castle on a remote headland. But...where was he getting his bricks from? A musical, magical, moving and comic journey through the minds of some of our planet’s most eccentric and creative individuals. A smash hit success at the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe.

ALMOST ALWAYS MUDDY By Likely Story Theatre and Kirsty Harris

Friday 27 October, 2.30pm & 5pm Saturday 28 October, 11.30am & 4pm Sunday 29 October, 11.30am Where do all the children play? Where have all the playgrounds gone? Join the team of Almost Always Muddy in their Junk Yard playground of treasures and build them a place to tell their story. Almost Always Muddy is the story of a Hero's Quest for courage, improvised by the Almost Always Muddy team and led by the world you have built and the suggestions you give. In the first part you are in a junkyard: pallets, tubes, ropes, nets, fabric. You are invited to use all the materials to build the places stories can happen. The Junkyard will morph into a magical place for adventure. In the second part, the Almost Always Muddy team of improvisers transform your creation into a theatrical storytelling Adventure, with live music, live making and special effects. Almost Always Muddy is an immersive storytelling experience. This an interactive piece so expect to get building and use your imagination.

SUPER MEGA ROCKIN' ROCK SHOW By Kid Carpet

Saturday 28 October, 2.30 - 3.15pm A fun packed interactive rock show suitable for small kids, big kids and animals! Come and rock out with Kid Carpet! Kid Carpet will teach you how to rock out at a rock show, fly like a Golden Eagle, win a penguin race and do a little poo in the forest. In this 45 minute show Kid Carpet will guide you through everything you need to know to be able to rock out big time. Even if it’s your first gig! Join in with stories, games and songs. Audience participation is encouraged with parents and children both onstage and in the seats.

A gorgeous original ballet, which takes a fresh and humorous look at the famous Lear poem. Once again, the company combines fantastic dancing, beautiful costumes and crystal-clear storytelling to engage and delight young audiences. Tuesday 24 October, 2 - 3pm: Fabric Covered Button Jewellery Make and Do!: Learn how to make fabric covered buttons using fabric scraps and design unique jewellery from your creations!

Superhero Arms!: Everyone can be a superhero but do you have the superhero arm cuffs to match? Join in with this workshop and design personalised cuffs to wear whenever you may need them! Themed activity and face painting available. See pages 10 & 11.

Thursday 26 October, 11am - 12noon: Minecraft Torches

Ages 4+

The night time is coming and so are the creepers! You are going to need a torch! Join Creatabot and make your very own Minecraft torch to take home to keep the mobs away!

Friday 27 October, 11am - 12noon: Candle Making Have a go at making candles the easy way using soft mouldable wax! They make the perfect gifts and we will have gift wrap ready just in case you want to give your creation to someone you love!

Ages: 5+ Saturday 28 October, 2.30 - 6pm: Spooky Crafts Make fluffy pumpkin garlands to hang up in your home as well as other various spooky crafts! Will there be googley eyes? Very likely!
