Healthy Digestion – Healthy You

Many people experience digestive issues. Sometimes it’s the food, but how we eat is as important as what we eat. Incorrect food combinations, eating certain foods at the wrong time of the day or in the wrong season, and other eating habits can result in poorly digested food that form toxins. These toxins can cause various diseases including arthritis, heartburn, acid reflux, auto immune, skin problems, asthma, and many other common health issues. For thousands of years Ayurvedic medicine, the traditional medicine of India, has prevented and treated disease through proper eating habits. In this class you will learn eating rules for good digestion including simple ways to assist digestion with herbal teas and kitchen spices, signs of poorly digested food/ toxins, plus how to safely and gently detoxify. 7095 7/30/2016 - 7/30/2016 9:00AM - 12:00PM 1 ses Sa Freedman On Campus: CC Bldg Room 3446 $49

This summer we screen films that draw into question our inability to take to our heels. First up is Konga (1961) Michael Gough (Alfred from ABC’s beloved Batman TV Series) raises a cute little ape into a giant, marauding behemoth. In Horror of the Blood Monsters (1970) starring John Carradine and narrated by Brother Theodore (whose delightfully manic rants on ’60s TV talk shows made him a cause celebre) astronauts take a wrong turn and encounter a cornucopia of bloodthirsty, other-worldly creatures. We follow that with Bury Me Dead (1947), which casts two iconic 1950’s TV parents; June Lockhart (Lassie) as a woman who’s upset after attending her own funeral and Hugh Beaumont (Leave It to Beaver) as her “helpful” lawyer. We wrap up with Frogs (1972), starring Ray Milland (Dial M for Murder) as a cranky old millionaire curmudgeon who enjoys humiliating and debasing his contemptuous heirs until a few thousand frogs arrive and turn the tables. 7124 7/7/2016 - 7/28/2016 7:00 - 9:00PM 4 ses Th Hopkins On Campus: LB Bldg Room 1231 $65
