Whether students are filling the Qubein Arena for major concerts and Division I basketball games, enjoying weekly free food trucks, attending campus carnivals or getting together at the new food hall, nail salon or barber shop on campus (see page 7), HPU students have endless opportunities for fun. These exciting and engaging events and spaces are more than just a fun peek into student life at HPU — they’re a reflection of HPU’s holistic approach to the entire academic journey and the belief that students should love where they live throughout their college experience. There are 168 hours in a week. Students are in class for approximately 20 of those hours. How do students spend all that remaining time? At HPU, they'll join a variety of campus organizations that fit their personalities, conduct undergraduate research, prepare for the real world with experiential learning opportunities, enjoy countless meals with friends at HPU's nationally ranked dining facilities and ultimately make memories they'll cherish for the rest of their lives. HPU is committed to providing a safe environment with endless opportunities for students, with a goal to enhance both their academic achievements as well as their personal growth and development. “ Take advantage of the speakers who come to campus, the activities organized for students, the professors who care so much about your success, the sports games, the campus employees, the clubs and the food trucks! HPU helped prepare me for a life of significance. It was the best four years of my life.” Sydney Donohue, ʹ23 CVS Health, Finance Leadership Development Program Analyst

HPU Gives Teddy Bears to Freshmen to Teach Kindness

6

Each year, HPU President Nido Qubein hands out teddy bears to all freshmen during a special session of his First-Year Seminar on Life Skills, a class taught by the president and other accomplished leaders. HPU freshmen are encouraged to give the teddy bear away to somebody who has positively impacted their life. For President Qubein, the teddy bear is a quintessential symbol of childlike innocence, and gifting it to another provides an important life lesson on love, safety and stewardship.
