Early Decision (Priority I) is for applicants who rank HPU as their first choice and commit to enrolling at HPU. Early Decision is a binding agreement stating that, if admitted, you will withdraw applications from all other institutions, as well as commit to and enroll at HPU.

Deadline: November 1 Notification Date: November 21

10 Benefits You’ll Receive When You Apply Early Decision:

1 Your admissions decision will be delivered to you by November 21.

2 You will receive first priority for housing.

3 You will receive a guaranteed parking space for the entire freshman year.

4 You will move in a day earlier than other students.

5 You will have first priority in selecting your fall class schedule.

6 You will have early access to your freshman Success Coach beginning December 1.

7 You will receive three hours of study tips and time management techniques during your Learning Excellence Coaching Session.

8 You will receive a complimentary, autographed book by one of HPU’s In-Residence faculty.

9 You will be invited to an exclusive Life Skills and Leadership Luncheon.

10 You will again receive priority housing if you pursue the tuition-free master’s degree.

Early Action is for applicants who rank HPU as one of their top college choices. Early Action is non-binding. Students who apply under the Early Action plan will be given second priority consideration in the application and housing process.

Deadline: November 15

Notification Date: December 15

Regular Decision allows applicants who did not apply Early Decision or Early Action to submit their applications by March 1. Applications under the Regular Decision plan will be reviewed starting February 1.

Scholarships

THE PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM recognizes incoming freshmen who demonstrate outstanding achievement, good citizenship, strong leadership and exceptional scholarship during high school. Your undergraduate admissions application serves as your application for university merit scholarships. Top scholar candidates will be invited to increase their initial scholarship amount by interviewing on campus during a special weekend in February. Presidential Scholarships are awarded at three different levels and are renewable over four years, as long as renewal GPA requirements are met. The following statistics represent the averages of last year’s recipients:

Presidential Founders Scholarship ($30,000 - full tuition)

Average GPA: 4.0 (unweighted)

Average SAT: 1550 (Math & CR)

Average ACT: 34

*These students also graduated in the top 5% of their class

Presidential Fellowships ($9,000 - $20,000)

Average GPA: 3.85 (unweighted)

Average SAT: 1363 (Math & CR)

Average ACT: 29

HIGH POINT SCHOLARS demonstrate solid achievement, good citizenship and leadership during high school. High Point Scholars are invited to a special leadership weekend in February where they can increase their merit award.

PROJECT Discovery

Nationally, nearly half of all college students enter college not knowing what they want to major in. Additionally 75% change their major at least once before graduating. It’s ok. At High Point University, we partner with you to help you discover an academic pursuit that you are passionate about and, we call this process Project Discovery.

An eight-step program, Project Discovery will guide you to uncover your talents and achieve your career goals. An intrigual part of the process, every HPU freshman receives a Success Coach who is intent on helping you discover a major that is a great fit for you. Your Success Coach will connect you with a First-Year Navigator who was also once undecided and help you make positive connections with organizations on campus.
