ANDLEEB ZAIDI A 24 years old model based in Hyderabad. A graduate in accessories designing from NIFT, Hyderabad. Few things you ought to know about her are she’s an avid animal lover and love to spend her leisure time painting canvases, watching K-dramas and sipping coffee while looking at a beautiful landscape. How did you become a Fashion Model? While I was pursuing my education at NIFT, I was a very shy girl. I Used to feel insecure about being tall and skinny but my seniors used to scout me all the time for their photography assignments. One fine day, few of my seniors signed me up for the Femina Miss India audition. They convinced me that I would prove my worthiness on a national platform and so I did. After being a participant of a renowned beauty pageant, I started scoring good modelling assignments. That’s how a camera-shy girl who couldn’t even walk in heels entered the world of fashion. What is your dream to work for? My dream is to work for myself and be my own boss in five years down the lane. What is a typical day like in your life? On a typical day, when I’m not shooting I wake up around 9 am and prepare my breakfast which is usually fruits with toast and coffee. After I finish cleaning my house, I grab a light lunch and then head out to the gym. My workout usually lasts for an hour. Post that I go around the area to feed the stray dogs and return home. I meet my partners to work 16 DECEMBER, 2020 TULIP
on our business model and after all the goals for the day have been accomplished, I cuddle with my cats while watching K-dramas until I fall asleep. On the day of shoots, I wake up around 4 or 5 am, grab my coffee and head out to the shooting location. What does it take to be successful in the field you excel in? It takes a lot of physical as well as mental strength to excel in the competitive and ever-changing industry of fashion but one of the most important things which help to survive the cut-throat competition is being self-aware. If you know how you feel and what you want at a particular time in your life, you will be able to prepare yourself mentally and physically for the challenges to come. What do you do in your free time? I go to nearby cafes and sip hot coffee while chilling with my friends when I want to be out on my day off. When I’m at home, I love being creative and creating something new or just taking a nap with my forever lazy cats. Tell us a funny incident which happened to you?

Humour follows me; there isn’t a day when I don’t laugh off my brains because I possess the most hilarious friends. It’s not possible for me to pinpoint one funny incident but watch out for me in public, you’ll know the story behind my hysterical laughter. How Covid has affected the modelling industry and what are the ways one can evolve and deal with the situation? Personally, I did not feel any negative effects on my work in the industry. Since the lockdown has been lifted, I’ve been completely occupied with modelling and acting projects. Fashion shows have come to a standstill due to covid-19 as it involves the gathering of lots of models coming in close contact and working with each other. The only way to deal with the situation is to make sure that when you’re shooting, every member of the crew has been tested for covid a day prior to the shoot, social distancing is being followed, and temperature checks are conducted at the set.
Rapid Fire If you are given a genie and have to make 2 wishes what will you wish? Give me the ability to outsmart a genie. Give me an unlimited number of wishes Are you a coffee or a tea person? Both, depending on what time of the day it is. If you are paired opposite Salman Khan what will be the title of
the movie? Maine pyaar KITNI BAAR KIYA? If you are left in a supermarket and asked to pick up only 3 things what would you pick? I would pick up some broccoli, avocado and green tea, then I’ll put it all back at the checkout counter and grab a handful of chips and aerated drinks.

How was the journey from Engineering to Acting? Well I have always wanted to be a creative person since childhood and wanted to explore my dream to showcase that part of me to the world. Never could sit behind a desk like a corporate as I always feel there is more to explore in this world which enabled me to enrol into theatre. I did theatre for couple of years honing my skills and then forayed into main stream cinema. The journey was exciting as always as I am doing what I love the most and what I planned for myself. Your debut movie went on to complete 100 days at the theatres, how did you feel when it was proved to be a successful movie? To be able to be accepted by people is an amazing feeling, as the response was overwhelming. It just proves that hard work never fails and the pursuit of your goal with dedication is always fruitful. Was an amazing experience which I ll cherish for a lifetime.

From a hectic lifestyle to a halt, how did you deal with lockdown? Lockdown has been a blessing for me as it has given me enough time to look into myself and gather my thoughts and look at life with whole new perspective altogether. I was able to learn new skillsets and has given my strength to endure my weaknesses and strengthen myself. The pandemic showed how human spirits can overcome any adversity. With the lockdown now over, how exciting is it to start working again? Its always exciting to get back to work and get to meet your colleagues, but post lockdown you view the world with a different mindset and feel thankful and grateful for what you have and just pray that everyone around you are safe and healthy. Once you are grateful for what you have, the process becomes more satisfying and enjoyable for oneself. I am excited and grateful to be back on sets. If you had to choose any other profession besides acting, what would it be? I don’t think I would be able to survive doing anything else apart from acting. If at gunpoint to choose, I would have chosen to be on the creative side of things but in the same entertainment industry itself. How do you deal with negativity TULIP - DECEMBER, 2020 45

Durgam Cheruvu Bridge
Hyderabad welcomed its latest landmark in September which was inaugurated by the Telangana Minister KTR. This is the longest bridge in Hyderabad and is also the first cable bridge of Hyderabad. The morning view from the bridge is eyepleasing and at night the bridge lights up into a melody of colours. The bridge has turned into a huge hot spot for Instagram.
Mozamjahi Market Restoration
In August Telangana government restored the famous landmark of Hyderabad, Moazzam Jahi Market. The landmark was built in 1935 by the last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan. The place was in poor condition since the past few years. This year the landmark was renovated and was inaugurated by Telangana Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao.
Krispy Kreme
The international doughnut franchise finally made its debut at Hyderabad. The food branch opened its doors to fellow Hyderabadis in August. Krispy Kreme is now available at four locations Inorbit Mall, GVK Mall, Forum Sujana Mall and Sarath City Capital Mall. Their all-time best seller and our favourite is the original glazed doughnut. Numaish also is known as Numaish MasnuÄ t-e-Mulki is an annual exhibition that takes place at the 26 acre land at Mallapally, Hyderabad. It is a state fair, where merchants from different states bring their commodities for sale. Numaish consists of food, clothes, household items, makeup, electronics and much more. Some famous local brands like Pista House and Masqati Dairy Milk can also be found at the event. Numaish takes place for 46 days in the city and is very dear to Hyderabadis.
Zomaland - Zomato food festival
This year in February the popular food app hosted its grand food festival Zomaland at GMR Arena, Hyderabad. It was a two-day food and entertainment carnival it had numerous food stalls, fun activities and games like a huge Ferris wheel and live performances. The festival had some special celebrities like singer and rapper Badshah, comedian Tanmay Bhat and rapper DIVINE at the event.
Dalgona Coffee
During the mind-numbing lockdown, sweet and lovable Dalgona Coffee went viral on social media. Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat stories were overflowing with #dalgonacoffee. Food bloggers quickly jumped on this trend and started uploading videos on how to make dalgona coffee which had a high number of views too. The trend started in January when a South Koren actor Jung Il-woo made the drink. The hashtag #dalgonacoffee has more 5 lakh posts on Instagram.

World's Largest Walk In Wardrobe The Nizams Museum also features Wardrobe of H.EH Nawab Mir Mahbub Ali Khan, the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad (1869-1911) which is also the world's biggest or largest walk through wardrobe which is one of its kind, showcases some of the costumes worn in the city during the early 19th Century. 66 DECEMBER, 2020 TULIP
A truly phenomenal exhibit in its own right, the wardrobe, is 176 ft. long and is made of the finest of the Burma teak. It is constructed on two levels.

The main building here houses the Nizam's Museum which also showcases stunning souvenirs, gifts, and mementos that the last Nizam received within a few hours during the celebration of the silver jubilee of his rule. From silver-plated models of iconic buildings in Hyderabad, hukkah sets and cigarette boxes, toys, candle stands, and innumerable such lavish items to the royal cradle and seat of the Nizam himself, you can find it all here The Nizam never repeated his clothes and once worn, his clothes were given away. Therefore, there is no authentic record of his wardrobe. An attempt is made to recreate one section based on the photographs of his clothes and the historical accounts of that period. In the absence of any of his personal items, the remaining sections of the wardrobe are used to highlight the various costumes of men, women and children of Hyderabad. There are at present more than ten buildings in the Purani Haveli. The main building which accommodates the Nizam’s museum is flanked by two long wings running parallel to each other. Where to stay: The Bungalow on the Beach - 17th Century Tranquebar Bungalow on the Beach by the Neemranagroup is located 118 km from Pondicherry at Tranquebar (Tamilnadu, India). The beautiful property with its high ceilings, arched pathways, and beautifulcolonnadespeaks of its colonial architecture. The Bungalow on the Beach is an 18th-century Danish colonial house which once belonged to the Governor of Danish India and is right opposite the Fort Dansborg built by the Danish East India Company in what was once a pepper trading post of Tranquebar, now known as Tharangambadi. The bungalow was acquired by Neemrana Hotels in 2000, and after restoration was opened in 2004. This was our first travel post lockdown and we wanted to be as safe as we can. With fewer tourists and Neemrana’s name attached to our itinerary, we just had to pick Tranquebar. The hotel has two restaurants which serve Indian and French cuisine. You can choose to dine-in in your room or at the restaurant. While we did not spot a menu, what we did get is special recommendations from chef. Before each meal or your arrival you can share your choice of dishes and let chef do the magic with it. We enjoyed all our meals in the verandah with the sea and wind for company.Even though we were there just for the weekend, time had slowed down as we dwelled over the sea that endlessly stretched in front of us. Rooms : A spiral of wooden staircase lead you to high walls and room with chandelier that leads to rooms and further open up into a verandah. Each room is named after a ship and is equipped with a canopied bed, linen that matches the colour scheme of the room, a writing desk, vintage cupboard a relaxing lounge chair and amenities for a comfortable stay. 74 DECEMBER, 2020 TULIP

The Beach - One of the major attractions of Tranquebar is its rich ozone layer beach. Did you know that Tranquebar has the only Ozone rich beach in India? The ozone has a rejuvenating effect and does wonders to the tired urban body. The Bungalow on the Beach literally sits on the beach on which it commands an emblematic position. The Ozone layer here is the thickest in the country and second thickest of the World. Dansburg Fort The Danish East India company was established in 1616 and the Danes wanted a fair share of spice trade from India. British and Portugese companies had already established themselves at various places in India. A treaty was signed between Christian IV, King of Denmark and Ragunatha Nayak, King of Tanjore for permission to build a fort in Tharangambadi (Tranquebar). This Fort remained with the Danes till 1845 until the British took over. It is now a protected monument overseen by Tamilnadu State Department of Archeology since 1977. A small museum also has been built inside the fort to revealing the history of the political, cultural, social and trade connections between India and Denmark. Getting There: Tranquebar is a 6 hours drive from Chennai. It is the only way to reach this erstwhile Danish settlement Best Time to Visit: November to March

Alan Rickman’s diaries to be published The personal diaries of the late actor, spanning more than 25 years of his life and career, is set to be published into a book. The project is said to be published by 2022. Rickman, who died in 2016 at age 69 following a battle with cancer, began writing these diaries in the early 1990s with the intention of publishing them. Publisher Canongate has acquired the rights to the book, reportedly titled The Diaries of Alan Rickman.
