LULU MALL OPENS IN HYDERABAD

Lulu Group, a prominent retailer based in the United Arab Emirates, has ventured into Telangana with the grand opening of its inaugural mall in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The company has also reaffirmed its commitment to invest Rs 3,500 crores in the state over the next three years. The inauguration of the 5 Lacs-square-foot mall was officiated by Telangana's Minister for Industry, KT Rama Rao. This state-of-theart mall, established with an investment of Rs 300 crores in the Kukatpally area, is set to provide an exceptional international shopping experience to the residents of Hyderabad and its neighboring regions. She is a yoga teacher with an RYT-500, prenatal postnatal certification in yoga. She has been teaching yoga for the past 12 years juggling various other careers such as a radio jockey, a GRE verbal faculty, and a soft skills trainer.

What is a normal day routine in your life like?

I wake up at 5 am finish my Bhakti rituals, and then take group and private classes till 11 am and then do my own sadhana or practice where I hit the gym and a mix of yoga asanas, weights and movement. I then spend time with my daughter and head to a couple of more classes till 8 pm. Back home and then get ready for the next day

How did you get into Yoga?

I was into dance and that’s when I chanced upon yoga for flexibility of the body and slowly it began to seep into me deeper than I expected So, researched more about yoga while continuing my practice with various teachers and finally after my MBS I took up the certification

What inspires and motivates you?

Everything about yoga its benefits in the physical, metaphysical, and psychological states inspires me I get the utmost satisfaction and motivation to continue teaching when I hear my students' joyful voices post a yoga class When my students tell me how much yoga changed their lives for good.

What is Yoga to you?

Yoga is a path of eternal bliss and grace bestowed upon me by the supreme It is the path to transcendence from the mundane to the higher self. It is a marga to get close to the supreme and to understand our purpose in life.

What do you do in your leisure time?

I read a lot of books most are yogabased, the history of India and the world, and learn new skills such as contemporary dance, Bharatnatyam etc.

How do you motivate yourself to exercise regularly and keep your diet in check?

Once the yoga journey begins the awareness of the self automatically starts When one is aware of themselves at the cellular level, they know how to take care of the body and the food It becomes a part of their lifestyle to be conscious of what one is ingesting inside be it food, thoughts

Reynold Poernomo

seemed to have a food influence in every corner of his life His parents d his older brothers found their way into the hospitality industry ooking first began at the age of 14 where he found himself expressing gh food Though at first as a hobby which then grew into an everyday p p j perimenting, cooking from high-end cookbooks, watching cooking tutorials and in no time became a self-taught cook.

He then made his debut on Masterchef Australia in 2015 and was crowned as the nation’s ‘Dessert King’ as he placed as a finalist in the cooking competition. He may not have won but have definitely won the hearts of many In 2016 Reynold, his mother and his brothers founded KOI Dessert Bar which focuses on high-end handcrafted pastries and desserts. It has now become one of the most popular venues of Sydney with a cult-like following and its name infamous globally. In 2017 KOI Dessert Bar was created as the main production kitchen, expanding the KOI D brand.

Hyderabad is known for its patisseries. A few of the famous ones are listed below:

Conçu

Swathi Upadhyay and her husband Chef Sahil Tan returned to Hyderabad after finishing their studie UK. At first, they opened an 800 square foot busin 2012 and used word of mouth to let people know were taking orders. Concu focused primarily on European desserts since they wanted to give som different from the typically excessively fudgy or sw American pastries. According to Upadhyay, they w first to introduce macarons to Hyderabad; at the very few people were familiar with the macaron concept

Foncé Chocolatier Cafe

In December 2020, Hyderabad's first immersive new cocoa atelier was opened by founder Deepa Reddy, a young engineer and MBA turned entrepreneur, together with her husband and co-founder Jaikar Reddy. Deepa Reddy's frequent travels to countries like Switzerland, Italy, and Dubai, where cocoa is considered both food and art, are what gave rise to the beginning of the delightful adventure Travel honed her enthusiasm for chocolates and chocolate making like a magic beanstalk The young business owners visited Europe and other regions to personally select the finest ingredients and furnishings for the Foncé kitchen. Additionally, the cafe's name reflects that. Foncé, which is French for "dark," makes it clear how to use dark chocolate to create delectable beverages and viennoiseries.

Labonel Fine Baking

The exclusive, family-owned chain Labonel, which Mehnaz Hussain renamed and introduced in 2005, currently has seven locations, including two in Bengaluru and one in Vijayawada. In December 2022, Labonel reached its 17-year milestone under Mehnaz's direction The family company now also includes her husband Abdul, sons Mohammed and Ahmed, and daughter-in-law Zeenat Jadwet. "I was clear about what I wanted," she claims With the assistance of a branding firm, I relaunched the company. In addition to creating new recipes from the books I had accumulated over the years by modifying them and adding or removing ingredients, I also designed the boards and boxes. Due to their popularity, some foods, such cookies, eggless goods, and brownies, are prepared daily. They always have chocolate cake with ganache ready. Labonel's cost for a cake can potentially reach Rs 10,000 Mehnaz's concentration on using high-quality, fresh ingredients (the components used are mentioned on Labonel's website) is what makes her cakes so pricey All Labonel shops have their own kitchens, and every product is created from scratch there without the use of preservatives. Her repertoire includes teatime cakes, cupcakes, dessert gateaux and roulades, cheesecakes, brownies, and biscuits, among other items. Loaves and eggless variations are also hot favorites, along with the always-popular chocolate cakes.

“It’s extremely difficult to choose just one place. Our city’s coffee game is very strong and many places offer great variety with good consistency. But Toops takes the cake for me. It has just coffee and a few snacks that are a perfect pair for coffee. No fancy experiments, and no combination that goes wrong. Finish a walk and pick up a mug or just sit there with a book. It’s a perfect “pick me up” on a dull day! My favourite is their Vietnamese cold brew.. It’s the perfect balance of coffee and cream and it instantly refreshes you!”

Classy and aesthetic are two words often heard when the name of this cafe is mentioned. The interiors have the aesthetic of minimalism, Japanese and Swedish-inspired design. Overlooking the busy road, the space inside gives the opposite vibe - almost Zen-like due to its muted interior colour combinations. “The brookie and Mocha at True Black coffe, Jubilee Hills is my absolutely favourite. There are varieties of coffees at the True Black coffee Shop. The ambience is minimal and the vibes are cozy and amazing. The brookie is a coffee blended with brownie. Every coffee has a special flavour to it. This is the best cafe option if you want to hang out with friends especially at midnight and are looking for a great cafe The vibe in this cafe is cozy and lively. It’s not your regular cafe that just has a nescafé. From the typical Indian Kaapi to regulars like Cappuccino, and Mocha to specialities like French Press and Aero Press along with blends and cold brews Roast’s Brownie Blend is quite popular and good. It’s super rich, and creamy and the blend is just delicious.

“One of the most remarkable things about coffee is its taste. The taste of coffee is distinct. As you take that first sip, you should close your eyes so you can pick up on the subtle undertones of flavor. My favourite from Roast is their Indian Kaapi. It’s a nice take on the South India Kaapi. It’s served in a large mug along with two cookies (which are heavenly). Overall it’s a very comforting cuppa of coffee.”

Being a student of architecture, I always had the passion of designing. It was like turning my passion into a profession. The cherry on the icing is to see that smile on the faces of our clients at the end of every project, that’s what’s most rewarding. This might sound cliched but to be a successful entrepreneur you need to have a combination of passion, creativity, ability to take risks and most importantly a strong work ethic. Coming to the female entrepreneur part of it, it’s possible that in certain situations one is overlooked or not taken seriously. In such situations my advice would be to know your business in & out and to play your strengths. This is what will definitely take you forward!! Tips for newcomers: The initial period is always challenging but the adrenaline keeps you excited and you pull through it. Something that’s not talked about a lot is the down period, which you can come across because of multiple reasons. It’s very important that during this time you keep a very positive mindset, listen to your heart, take help from your peers without the fear of being judged and most importantly remind yourself the passion you started this with because after that it only gets bigger and better.

My Business is called the "DULCIS WHISK- Crafting Sweet Success". Live, love, bake. These three verbs encapsulate the essence of Dulcis Whisk, my heartfelt baking journey. As a female entrepreneur and pharmacist, I've seamlessly blended my love for baking into an empowering adventure. Transitioning from pharmaceutical formulas to exquisite recipes, my path may have been unconventional, but it's undeniably fulfilling. My cake journey commenced in 2019, and it's been an exhilarating roller coaster ride. Some days brim with boundless motivation, while others seem dull and uninspiring. Yet, behind every delectable creation lies a tale of countless hours dedicated to hard work, patience, experimentation, and unwavering commitment to perfecting the art of baking. Why did you decide to start your own business? What was your motivational force? When I launched the brand She & Me, I noticed that the Hyderabadi market definitely had jutti brands but they were either too expensive or of too low quality. My main motive behind starting this brand was to provide an array of jutties that were beautiful to look at, pocket friendly and also of high quality. The idea for She and Me Jutti centre was conceived when we realised that times have changed and footwear does not only serve practical purposes but is also worn as an accessory by both men and women alike. Like every other business, ours is also not a one man/woman show. My husband and daughters have been ever encouraging without whom this would have been impossible. My daughter Soha puts her heart and soul into designing the most beautiful and intricate looking jutties. Why did you decide to start your own business? What was your motivational force?

Riya: I was working in Bombay for a few years, and one day I was speaking to my mentor, and he told me that all my talent will truly show the day I start working for myself. So, I decided to move back to Hyderabad, as I saw more opportunities here, and did some homework and didn't look back. I remember when we started I was 22 and my sister and co-founder was just 18! We started out firm in 2019 and set out towards our journey. Our biggest motivational force was our parents, they both have separate businesses but very extremely supportive when we started are new venture. They have been our cheerleaders, pushing us to work harder, appreciating us and constantly giving us positive affirmations when we are low.

What does it take to be a successful female entrepreneur? Some tips for newcomers.

There's just one word, "Consistency". We believe the key to being a successful entrepreneur is just being consistent, with your work and your quality of work. Especially for newcomers, being an entrepreneur can be challenging, while you have good days, you also have your share of bad days which are difficult to pull through. We have glorified entrepreneurship but the harsh reality is it's very easy to get bored, tired or demotivated. Make sure you show up! Show up for yourself and your work consistently!
