The Dayton Weekly News
The Dayton Weekly News is Dayton, Ohio’s longest running African American News publication. In 1993 Don G. Black noticed a lack of a print publications that accurately covered news and events happening in Dayton’s African-American community. This void of left residents with only news whose slant was often negatively biased towards the communities in which they lived, socialized, worked and worshiped. On November 23, 1993 the first issue of the Dayton Weekly rolled off the presses. Every Thursday since that first issue, the Dayton Weekly has delivered news and information geared towards Dayton’s African-American community covering local politics, health, education, business, community news, religion, sports and entertainment. We will continue to follow in the footsteps of Paul Laurence Dunbar and build upon the legacy left by Don G. Black. We will work hard to provide a voice for the African American community and to deliver positive news you can use, in print and now online.
