Five Roman Pillars
The stylized columns in the A.Roma logo are inspired by classical Roman architecture and they are 5, a number that we find on several occasions. The 5 senses of human kind: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste, also 5 important aspects for the hotel experience. The number 5 symbolizes balance in Western culture, in Eastern culture 5 are the elements that make up the entire universe: water, metal, earth, fire and wood. 5 is a special issue for different world religions. In Christianity, the Pentateuch, the set of the first five books of the Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. In Islam, the five pillars are the foundations of everyday Muslim life. In Buddhism the five precepts or five virtues constitute the basic code of ethics followed by its faithful.
Le cinque colonne romane
Le 5 colonne stilizzate nel logo dell’ A.Roma Lifestyle Hotel sono un duplice omaggio all’architettura classica romana e alla forte valenza simbolica del numero “5”, che assume significati speciali nelle principali civiltà e religioni del mondo. I 5 sensi dell’uomo: vista, udito, tatto, olfatto e gusto, ad esempio, rappresentano l’esperienza sensoriale attraverso cui si vive il viaggio e il soggiorno in hotel. Nella cultura occidentale il numero 5 simboleggia l’equilibrio interiore, mentre in quella orientale rappresenta i 5 elementi della natura che compongono l’universo: acqua, metallo, terra, fuoco e legno. Nel Cristianesimo, il Pentateuco indica i primi 5 libri della Sacra Bibbia: Genesi, Esodo, Levitico, Numeri e Deuteronomio. Nell’Islam, i cinque pilastri rappresentano le regole essenziali che guidano la vita musulmana ed anche nel Buddismo ricorre il numero 5, come 5 sono i precetti o virtù che costituiscono il codice di condotta morale che tutti i fedeli buddisti sono tenuti ad osservare.
Silk Road
At the entrance of the hotel, we have placed the Silk Road, a bronze abstract sculpture that resembles a larger-than-life silkworm cocoon. It symbolizes the simple aspiration of the A.Roma Hotel: fostering the meeting of eastern and western cultures. It was via the Silk Road, over 2,000 years ago, that western and eastern civilizations started to exchange goods and ideas and to learn from each other. This cross-fertilization sparked a flourishing of world cultures and enabled them to develop by leaps and bounds. In our time, the A.Roma Lifestyle Hotel wants to reopen this way, to facilitate a better understanding of ideas as well as of art and culture between East and the West.

La Via della Seta
L’opera “Silk Road” è un’ imponente scultura astratta realizzata in bronzo che rappresenta il bozzolo di un baco da seta. L’opera simboleggia il desiderio di A.Roma Lifestyle Hotel di divenire uno stimolante crocevia di culture e rappresentare un ponte tra la civiltà orientale e quella occidentale. Fu attraverso la Via della Seta, oltre 2000 anni fa, che tra Oriente ed Occidente iniziarono a circolare merci preziose, idee, religioni e tecnologie. Questa contaminazione culturale fu determinante per il fiorire delle civiltà antiche e contribuì allo sviluppo del progresso, gettando le basi del mondo moderno. Behind the reception desk, there are four welcoming Tibetan words. Tibetan is one of the oldest languages in the East. Read from left to right, the words are pronounced “Ja Shi Delek Pun Sum Tsok”. Ja Shi is auspicious. Delek is happiness. Pun Sum is fulfillment. Tsok is abundance. Together it is a Tibetan phrase to welcome and wish our guests well.
Entrando in hotel, alle spalle della Reception, si viene accolti da un’iscrizione in Tibetano che, letta da sinistra verso destra, si pronuncia “Ja Shi Delek Pun Sum Tsok”. Ja Shi è un augurio di buon auspicio. Delek è felicità. Pun Sum significa realizzazione Tsok rappresenta l’abbondanza. Pronunciate insieme suonano come un saluto di benvenuto e un augurio che l’A.Roma Lifestyle Hotel rivolge ogni giorno a tutti i suoi ospiti.
Music and charm
Moving along toward the lobby bar area on the right hand wall, there are two 20th century white sculptures of elegant ladies together with two modern interpretations of ancient Silk Road music instruments: Pi Pa, the lute and Yue Qin, the moon fiddle. The juxtaposition of these four statues signifies the modern world still dances to the music of the ancient Silk Road. Nell’area lobby del Bar “il Giardino”, sulla parete destra, si possono ammirare due sculture bianche che rappresentano figure femminili esili ed eleganti del XX secolo, accostate a due interpretazioni moderne di antichi strumenti della musica tradizionale cinese: Pi Pa, il liuto e Yue Qin, il violino a “forma di luna”. La combinazione di queste quattro opere allude al mondo moderno che “danza”, ancora oggi, sulle note dell’antica Via della Seta.
Great Antinoo
This artwork embodies A.Roma’s philosophies and attitudes toward work, culture and life. The sculptures which consist of a face, two hands and a foot, show how one should approach work. The welcoming face and head express that we must first think and plan before we act. The hands mean we must be “hands on” in all of our endeavors. The foot shows that every project must be carried out one step at a time.
Il grande Antinoo
L’opera “testa, mani, piedi” rappresenta la filosofia che anima l’ approccio alla vita e la cultura del lavoro all’A. Roma Lifestyle Hotel. Questa maestosa scultura contemporanea, posta in una nicchia nei pressi della Reception, si compone di quattro elementi in bronzo distinti tra loro - una testa, due mani e un piede - ognuna delle quali vanta un profondo valore simbolico. “La testa” ci ricorda che ogni azione deve essere preceduta da pensiero e pianificazione. “Le mani” simboleggiano la cultura del fare, la concretezza e il senso pratico che devono guidare ogni giorno il nostro lavoro. “Il piede” mostra come ogni grande progetto debba essere portato a termine con costanza e pazienza, un passo alla volta.

Bamboo
In the Chinese culture, bamboo is the symbol for the scholar and the gentleman. Springing out of the soil, bamboo stands straight but swings with the wind and epitomizes the virtues of tenacity, integrity and gracefulness. Bamboo’s stem is also hollow, signifying that humility is a core value of a scholar. Nella cultura cinese, il bambù è simbolo di virtù, forza interiore e nobiltà d’animo. Slanciato verso il cielo, il bambù si staglia eretto ma oscilla con il vento, simbolo di tenacia ed integrità. Con il suo stelo cavo, è inoltre sinonimo di qualità preziose come umiltà, saggezza e vitalità di chi conserva un animo fanciulllesco.
Tree of Life
Arriving at the restaurant is “The tree of life” and the hanging fruits fruits hanging on the branches are pomegranate, a symbol of fertility, prosperity and life of plenty. The concept of the Tree of Life exists across many cultures, religions, mythologies and philosophies. Hence this Tree is aptly placed in a restaurant that served cuisines and guests from all over the world. Al centro del ristorante si trova “L’albero della vita” e i frutti appesi suoi ai rami, realizzati in prezioso vetro soffiato, sono melograni, icone di fertilità, prosperità e fortuna. Il concetto di Albero della Vita è condiviso da molte culture, religioni e filosofie in ogni continente ed è per il suo profondo significato multiculturale che questa imponente opera in metallo è stata scelta per accogliere all’ingresso del Ristorante ospiti provenienti da tutto il mondo. Food for thought tunnel
From The Tree of Life, guests can pass through “Food for Thought tunnel”, which connects Building A to the conference center and the rooms in Building B. Along the tunnel, historical set phrases in Latin and more recent in Italian decorate the walls and display areas enriched with art works representing the essence of Chinese calligraphy.
La galleria Cibo per la mente
Dall’ingresso del ristorante, di fronte alla scultura “l’Albero della vita” si apre il tunnel “cibo per la mente”, che collega l’edificio A al Centro Congressi e alle camere dell’edificio B. Lungo il tunnel, citazioni storiche in latino e più recenti in italiano decorano le pareti, arricchite da opere che omaggiano l’arte della calligrafia cinese.
Ink Rhyme and Ink Force
Inside A.Roma Hotel, there are many sculptures whose inspiration came from the technique and the philosophy of calligraphy. In Chinese language, calligraphy is “Shu Fa”, the method of book. It is not just beautiful words but calligraphy is also an emotional and artistic expression. There are many different types of strokes such as dot, horizontal, vertical, rise, press, throw, hook, break. Combining these strokes, one can create the endless possibilities to interpret the Chinese characters. Imagine holding a brush pen, applying the ink filled tip onto a beautiful piece of paper and let the blackness spread! Inside the varying movements and forms, lies the Rhyme and Force of Calligraphy.

La potenza della scrittura Passeggiando per l’Hotel è possibile ammirare alcune sculture che si ispirano alla tecnica e alla filosofia orientale della Calligrafia. La Calligrafia, in lingua cinese “ Shu Fa - metodo del libro”, non indica solo la scrittura come strumento di comunicazione, ma rappresenta soprattutto un’ espressione artistica antica, sublime e preziosa. Immaginiamo di impugnare un pennello, immergerne la punta in un calamaio, far scivolare l’inchiostro sulle trame di una carta preziosa e lasciare che il nero si diffonda! Tra movimenti agili, gesti eleganti e forme armoniose, si ritrovano la forza e la poesia di quest’arte antica.
Growth and Raise
In the Congress center there are two ceramic art works. They represent A.Roma’s wish that all our meeting room guests, will have fruitful results as well as our respect for Mother Nature. Nel Centro Congressi sono posizionate due opere d’arte in ceramica che rappresentano rispettivamente un albero dorato e Madre Terra. Il primo interpreta il nostro augurio rivolto a tutti gli ospiti del Centro Congressi, affinché le attività che vi si svolgono diano il loro “frutto”, producendo risultati profittevoli e favorendo il successo professionale. L’opera ispirata a Madre Terra interpreta il nostro inno alla natura ed il desiderio di diffondere una cultura di rispetto e tutela verso il nostro pianeta.

Children of Sapori del Mondo Sapori del Mondo, the main restaurant, gather chefs and cuisines from all over the world. Its ceiling is painted in gold with world maps of changing dimensions, meaning all countries are equal regardless of size. The three sculptures of children represent “the child within us” and important values of human life. The first child reminds culture and education. The mask, used in Greek theater, symbolizes western literature. The fan Eastern culture. The second child carries two water buckets, it means that we should work with integrity and diligence. The third, a court jester, reminds us of being able to face the world with jokes and humor.
Qui si trovano tre sculture di bambini che raffigurano il fanciullo che vive dentro ognuno di noi. La prima statua rappresenta un bambino che tiene in mano una maschera teatrale ed un ventaglio, simboli di valori importanti come la cultura e l’istruzione. La maschera, elemento del teatro greco, interpreta la letteratura occidentale, il ventaglio simboleggia la cultura orientale. Il secondo bambino porta sulle spalle due otri colmi d’acqua e significa lavorare con equilibrio, integrità e diligenza. Cleansed Meditation
A.Roma SPA housed oriental meditation bronze sculptures, elegant interpretation of “Guan Yin”, the Chinese Bodhisattva and the Goddess of Mercy. Bodhisattva refers to someone who is able to reach nirvana but delays doing so through compassion for suffering beings. “Guan Yin” in Chinese language literally means looking & listening to the sounds of the world, as the Goddess cares so deeply for the people in need. La SPA dell’ A.Roma Lifestyle Hotel ospita una scultura di bronzo - dal titolo “Cleansed - Purificati” - che rappresenta un’ elegante riproduzione di “Guan Yin” - la Bodhisattva cinese, adagiata su un fiore di loto e nota come Divinità della Compassione e della Misericordia. Nel Buddismo, il titolo di Bodhisattva si riferisce a coloro in grado di raggiungere il Nirvana - ossia una profonda e completa realizzazione spirituale - ma procrastinano la loro ascesa per salvare tutte le creature sofferenti e bisognose. “Guan Yin”, versione cinese del Bodhisattva, il cui nome significa “ascoltare tutti i suoni del mondo” è invece colei che osserva ed allevia le sofferenze degli altri”.

Nile Pool
The pool is designed as a natural pond with a sandy bottom and descends gently from the shallow water slowly into the deeper center. A bronze hippopotamus and a bronze crocodile are on the opposite side of the pool. The inspiration for these subjects came from a 1st to 2nd century mosaic of a Nile River landscape found in an old villa on the Aventine Hill of Rome. The mosaic was created during at the height of the Roman Empire, which openly welcomed as well as absorbed foreign ideas.
Piscina del Nilo
Immersa nel parco dell’hotel, si trova la piscina esterna progettata come un laghetto naturale, le cui acque turchesi e poco profonde confluiscono dolcemente verso il fondo sabbioso. A bordo piscina ci si imbatte in due statue i di bronzo che rappresentano un ippopotamo e un coccodrillo, specie tipiche della regione del Nilo. L’ispirazione per questo progetto è infatti stata tratta da un mosaico datato tra il I e II secolo raffigurante un paesaggio sulle sponde del Nilo e rinvenuto tra i resti di un’antica villa romana sul colle Aventino. Il mosaico risale all’epoca di massima espansione dell’Impero Romano, i cui confini si estendevano a Sud oltre l’Egitto e la Mesopotamia ed erano più frequenti le testimonianze di contaminazioni culturali tra le colonie dell’Impero.
Four Seasons
Two sets of statues representing the Four Seasons. One set is of a modern design made in Roman Travertine marble and steel. The second set, situated indoors in the Restaurant and SPA areas, are the four classic goddesses, each illustrating one of the four seasons. These artworks denote how we believe in both the classical virtues as well as our use of the latest in technological innovation.
Quattro stagioni
Negli eleganti ambienti dell’hotel si trovano due serie di sculture che raffigurano le quattro stagioni, ma che si differenziano per lo stile classico di una e per il design contemporaneo dell’altra. All’ingresso dell’hotel, quattro sculture di concezione moderna in acciaio e travertino romano. Il secondo set di statue è posizionato all’interno del ristorante e della SPA e rappresenta le 4 divinità classiche simbolo delle stagioni. La scelta di queste opere, così diverse in termini stilistici ma che riflettono lo stesso significato, esprime il nostro approccio che apprezza i valori del passato, ma è volto all’innovazione e alla tecnologia.
Fresco inspired by ancient romans
Frescoes from the Poppea’s Villa in Oplontis and from the Livia’s house on the Palatine Hill. The first is a magnificent Roman a grandiose Roman seaside villa in the ancient town of Oplontis, between Naples and Sorrento, dated in the mid-1st century BC. With an elegantly designed space for both leisure and reception, the villa is a model for many city houses in Pompeii and Herculaneum at the time. It contains frescoes and ornamental decorations typical of the second Pompeian style, in which architectural ornamental elements alternated with mythological or nature-inspired figures, such as the winged victory, dominated by a fountain and surrounded by ornamental plants. The House of Livia on the Palatine Hill (around 30 BC), considered among the most important examples of the style of the “Second Style of Roman Painting” fashionable during the Imperial Period with district architectural elements such as columns. When reproducing this image, A.Roma chose to omit the decorative elements hanging below the ribbons as the original interpretation remain undefined. Affreschi ispirati agli antichi Romani, dalla Villa di Poppea a Oplontis alla Casa di livia al Palatino La Villa di Poppea presso il sito archeologico di Oplontis è una magnifica villa residenziale romana a picco sul mare nell’antica località di Oplontis, tra Napoli e Sorrento e datata verso la metà del I secolo a.C. Con uno spazio elegantemente progettato per il tempo libero e l’accoglienza, la villa è uno straordinario esempio delle ricche dimore rurali del tempo. Contiene affreschi e decorazioni ornamentali tipiche del secondo stile pompeiano, in cui elementi ornamentali architettonici si alternavano a figure mitologiche ispirate alla natura. Tra le immagini classiche riprodotte all’ A.Roma Lifestyle Hotel, il dipinto di una vittoria alata, sovrastata da una fontana e contornata da piante ornamentali è ispirata ai dipinti rinvenuti nell’ atrio della Villa di Poppea. Un altro esempio di pittura murale riprodotto presso l’A.Roma Lifestyle Hotel omaggia invece gli affreschi rinvenuti nella Casa di Livia al Palatino (circa 30 a.C.).
Artworks in the Garden
In the large garden of the hotel we find traditional Roman sculptures and three large modern metal sculptures, called Life, Kiss and City Transformation. They symbolize that only through Love, Nature and Life can a modern city be transformed and rebuilt. Nel vasto parco dell’hotel si trovano alcune sculture tradizionali romane e tre grandi sculture metalliche moderne, denominate Life, Kiss e City Transformation. Il loro significato simboleggia che solo attraverso l’Amore, la Natura e la Vita si può trasformare e ricostruire la città moderna.
