Welcome back to Bismarck Municipal Ballpark, home of Dakota Community Bank and Trust Field! On behalf of everyone at the Larks, we are privileged for the opportunity to welcome you to our summer home and celebrate Season 6 with you, your families, and your friends. After a wild two years, our front office decided to theme season six as the season to “Celebrate Good Times.” The ballpark is a great place to let go of all the crazy things going on personally, professionally, or around the world and celebrate quality time together with those we love the most. And there is a lot to celebrate! We are excited to welcome back Coach Flynt for a third season, who is surrounded by a talented group of new assistant coaches and players. Check out our roster pages to learn more. We’ve also spent the off-season focusing on ways to incorporate our players into the entertainment. This season, they are the characters of our show and will be entertaining you and your families all season long. Our team has worked countless hours putting together the most FUN-filled show each night while also striving to provide the best fan experience in sports. Khalid Collymore wasn’t originally going to be a member of the Bismarck Larks. Born and raised in Canada, he had planned to play for the Thunder Bay Border Cats in 2021, but, due to COVID-19 and border restrictions, Thunder Bay was unable to play. Thunder Bay’s roster was put on waivers and the rest of the Northwoods League had a draft to choose one player to join their squad in 2021. With the 4th overall pick, the Larks drafted Khalid and it was the perfect match. Khalid exceeded expectations when he came to Bismarck after hitting .242 with 4 RBI as a freshman at Montevallo. In his first game, Khalid made his presence known with a diving catch in left field to end the game. Two nights later, he hit a walk-off single in the 10th inning to secure a victory over the Duluth Huskies. In 40 games last season, Khalid finished top five on the team in batting average (.266), runs (26), and stolen bases (12). He also finished fourth in on-base percentage, just ahead of his college teammate Ben Teel. Khalid fractured his hand on a check swing while on the road with the Larks, an injury that ended his season early. The work ethic Khalid showed to rehab his hand and improve his performance has shown in his second season of college baseball. In 22 games, Khalid had a batting average of .359 for the University of Montevallo, a whopping .117 improvement from his freshman season. He finished fourth on the team in batting average. This past season included a first-ever for Khalid, too. On February 12 against Missouri St. Louis, Khalid hit his first career home run at the collegiate level. The accomplishment had him riding on cloud nine but it didn’t stop there. The next day, Khalid hit not just one, but two home runs against Missouri St. Louis. Khalid puts in the work every day and focuses on the minor details to make sure his game is improving every time he steps onto the field. Khalid isn’t the only one that pays attention to the details. CHRISTY ZAINHOFSKY BY CLAYTON VAN HORN Christy Zainhofsky knows what it means to be tough as nails. The second year Bismarck Larks game day team member was diagnosed with ovarian cancer early last year. The unexpected diagnosis marked the end to her Larks season and the beginning of her fight with ovarian cancer. “After getting the news from my doctor, I still wanted to keep working and going about my normal life, but I had to give up a lot of the things that were a big part of my life as I started to feel more and more sick.” With the support of her family and friends, Christy demonstrated how important positivity and resiliency are during difficult times. “One of the hardest parts was going through the Chemo process. My kids would actually stay over at a friend’s house because I was so sick, and they had trouble seeing me like that,” Christy said. “I know how hard it was for them to see me laying barely being able to move to get up to go to the bathroom.” During Christy’s fight, friends, neighbors, and family members, did everything they could to support and aid her. “It’s very hard for me to accept help from people and my friends and neighbors brought over many meals. But usually, I’m the one who wants to help people. But I wasn’t able to be that for them at that time. It made me very sad.” Christy fought her fight while learning a few lessons along the way. “My son made me a bracelet that says, ‘Cancer is a word, not a sentence’, So cancer is just a bump in the road. Live your life even when It’s hard… Attitude has so much to do with how you feel and whether you can beat it.” Christy's latest treatment was in November. Since then, she's been happy, healthy and in good spirits. She's excited to join the Larks back at the ballpark this season and put a smile on fans' faces all summer long.

As soon as spring time rolls around, he is out and about with his trusty binoculars, on the prowl for birds returning from their migration. His favorite birds, however, are Clark the Lark and Merifeather Lewis. The Rare Bird Watcher has been on the hunt to capture your two favorite hometown birds all spring, but every time he comes close, he misses his chance. Strawberry Sundae with Candied Bacon INGREDIENTS
FOR CANDIED BACON 1 LB Package Cloverdale Bacon 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar 1 quart Vanilla Ice Cream Fresh Strawberries Chocolate Syrup (optional) Chocolate Chips for Topping (optional) Sprinkles for Topping (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 425F, sprinkle brown sugar on slices of bacon. Cook candied bacon for 20-25 minutes or until caramelized and edges are a dark brown. Wash Fresh strawberries under water, trim and slice. Set aside. Scoop vanilla ice cream into bowl, top with fresh strawberries, chocolate syrup, sprinkles and chocolate chips. Lastly crumble candied bacon over the top! Enjoy!

I’m a person who is constantly seeking adventure and new things to a fault. I’m always adding something to my quiver of skills in life. I love music. I love the outdoors. At the top of my bucket list is to attend a highperformance driving school and learn how to be a race car driver. I’d also like to learn how to be a salsa dancer. The ultimate bucket list item of what I’d like to do, though, is I want to see our Earth as a globe in the palm of my hand from space. I want to go to space just like everybody’s doing these days. WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT THIS SUMMER WITH THE LARKS? This is a completely new realm of performance for me. I’ve done musical theater, which is usually a rehearsed style of doing things. I’ve done live full performances. I’ve done improv, I’ve done recording sessions, but with this whole sports game idea, mixed in with a little bit of comedy and my natural talents — it’s really all about igniting the audience. At the end of the season, I know I’ll be like, ‘Man, that was a blast.‘ WHAT SHOULD LARKS FANS LOOK FORWARD TO WHEN THEY’RE AT THE BALLPARK? The freshness of somebody who’s new. I’m not your typical North Dakotan — I don’t walk, talk or act like your typical North Dakotan — so they should come ready to have some fun with me. I always like people and this is perfect. I like people who throw the ball back, I like throwing you a conversation and you throw some conversation back with me. I’m looking for the audience to throw the ball back with me. Let’s play catch. WHAT IS YOUR MESSAGE TO LARKS FANS? I’m on a big journey from A to B and I’m happy that the Larks have shown up somewhere on my journey. And I’m glad to be part of that with everyone else. The Larks Reading Program presented by Farmers Union Insurance helps make reading FUN by encouraging North Dakota students to read for the chance to earn super cool prizes. The more books students read, the more prizes they get, such as a bookmark, bendy pencil, passes to the Dakota Zoo, a pass for the Medora zip-line, and free pizza at Pizza Ranch. Plus every kid that makes a "reading" home run receives a free ticket to a Larks game. The Larks Reading Program is completely FREE! Together we want to help create excitement about reading and rewards students for accomplishing their reading goals. This year the reading program grew by 2,880 students.
