The course examines the history of modern architecture, from the late nineteenth century to the end of the 1960s, a tumultuous period marked by conflict, confrontation, social and countercultural movements. It raises major disciplinary questions, issues and interdisciplinary themes and perspectives that will reverberate throughout the architectural history and theory curriculum. Content covers the genealogies of the modern movement, transnational, and intersecting development of architectural modernism in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, and other places.
