I am a husband, father, and grandfather. I’ve been married to my wife for over 25 years. We have three adult children and three grandchildren. I am a two-time Republican Party nominee for U.S. Congress, CD15TX. I am a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, whereby I served seven years Active Duty and one year in the TX Natl Guard. Further, I am a graduate of Wayland Baptist University whereby I obtained a B.S. in Religion and a Masters of Christian Ministry. I’ve also earned a PhD. in Educational Leadership from Trident University International.

I am the former pastor Shepherd’s Vineyard Christian Church where I pastored for over 12 years. In addition, I am a long-time educator at the university level. Finally, I’ve authored five books and currently, I am the Historian for the Republican Party of Texas! To God Be The Glory!

  • Texas is Worth Fighting For!
  • It's time for a Statesman to stand up for the true needs of Texans, I am that man!
  • We must protect Texas today and for future generations!

Border Security
Energy Independence
Youth Education

Texas must lead the way for: Energy Independence, Secure Our Borders, Take Care of Our Veterans, Raise the Standards of Education for our Children, and Take Care of Texans. This office provides the platform to do the aforementioned.

David, from the Holy Bible! He was a brave warrior and a man after God's own heart!

21 Keys and Power-Steps to Success by Dr. Tim Westley

I wrote a book on success and will apply the principles within to this position.

Honesty, integrity, boldness, foresight, courage, perseverance and vision are important characteristics for elected officials.

Honesty, integrity, boldness, courage, vision, and perseverance.

Advancing Energy Independence, Helping to Secure Our Borders, Take Care of Our Veterans, Raise the Standards of Education for our Children, Take Care of Texan, in times need due to disasters and protect our monuments and history.

I worked hard in a selfless manner to leave a better Texas and America for my children, their children, and generations to come!

Space Shuttle Challenger disaster - January 1986. I was 13 years old and we were watching it in our middle school classroom. It was an instant wakeup call showing the risk and sacrifice we make to move this nation forward.

Roofer. It was a family business and profession. I worked there a couple of months before attending college and eventually joining the military.

The Holy Bible! For every problem I encounter, it provides a solution.

I haven't engaged with enough fictional characters to highlight one I would want to be.

Watching the destruction and decline in our nation. However, I will continue to be involved and fight to reverse the trend!

Through this office, Texas must push forward to help the nation achieve Energy Independence, Secure our Borders, and Educate our Youth as Texas schools are in the bottom half of the nation!

We have 1254 miles of southern border, some of which is public lands. This office can assist in ensure the public portion is secured.

A background with varied experience, education, and networks which covers all the major areas and functions this job entails.

I don't have one, though I enjoy comedy at times.

What are your thoughts on term limits?

I believe in Term Limits. With the 2 year term, one has to prepare to run for office again just as quick as an election ends.

Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

No.

Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?

Yes, this story was up close and personal. I had a friend of my receive sub-standard treatment while in a V.A. hospital. He had a heart attack will there, was not found immediately. Although revived, was in a horrible state and eventually died recently. His family was compensate from the government due to negligence found. Nevertheless, i escorted his body out of the V.A. with his wife just over a year ago, while on the campaign trail and officiated his funeral on October 4, 2017. I have vowed that I will get to Washington and fight for reforms, transparency, and accountability to ensure such a tragedy never happens to another family.

Ballotpedia biographical submission form

The candidate completed Ballotpedia's biographical information submission form:

What is your political philosophy?

I hope to foster legislation that will make Texas and America stronger and better. I choose to run for office because I believe I have leadership, ideas, and solutions to make the state of Texas and our nation as a whole greater now and for future generations.

Is there anything you would like to add?

I am a person from the people - for the people. As a PhD, and a Critical Thinking Professor, I am keenly adapt and research and negotiating positions, which will be crucial for not only proposing legislation, but also gaining support from both sides of the isle to get it passed.

Further, I believe in being a representative for all the people and I believe my past as a community leader, public school and university educator, and soldier will help greatly with that task.[6]

The following issues were listed on Westley's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Education: I believe more emphasis should be placed on community colleges and technical institutes. I believe a redirecting of public funding for students excelling and graduating high school in 3 instead of 4 years should be used to fund community college and/or technical institutes. I believe in school choice, yet continue to support public school with fewer demands and concentration on standardized testing. I do not support Common Core and believe the states should have the rights to set and maintain the standards for their residents education. I support volunteer student initiate prayer in schools at all levels.
  • Veteran Affairs: The United States of America must fulfill its promises to the best of its ability. This is nowhere more important than with the promises made to those people who have put their lives on the line to defend this country. It is not acceptable that these people should be cheated by the intentional delay and partial fulfilment of these promises. Veterans should not be summoned to war at an instant notice while serving, only to have wait over a month at time to see a care provider. It's time to not only provide better protections for veteran's rights, but also a right to better service!
  • Healthcare: I reject any notion of government-run universal health care as we have seen evidence from around the world that government-run health care leads to inefficiencies, long waiting periods, and often substandard health care.
  • Second Amendment: I stand to protect the rights of individual citizens to bear arms and defend the constitutional right to do so. I stand with the G.O.P. platform and oppose federal licensing of law-abiding gun owners and national gun registration as a violation of the Second Amendment and an invasion of privacy of honest citizens. Overall, I believe in an individual’s real to keep and bear fire arms
  • Israel: The land of Israel is the ancestral homeland of the descendants of Israel / Jacob. This title was not lost when foreign powers drove most of the people out of the land. This was clear to the world after World War II when the state of Israel was again recognized. As their titled land it is theirs to defend and manage with the same rights as any other country.[6]
