Michael J. Brown is a judge for Division One of the Arizona Court of Appeals. He assumed office in 2007. His current term ends on January 1, 2029.
Brown ran for re-election for the Division One judge of the Arizona Court of Appeals. He won in the retention election on November 8, 2022.
Brown was appointed to the court by Democratic Governor Janet Napolitano in January 2007.[1] Brown was retained in 2010 and again in 2016.[2] Brown served as chief judge on the court from 2015 to 2017.[3]
Education
Brown received his B.S. from Brigham Young University in 1989 and his J.D. from Arizona State University College of Law in 1992.[4]
Career
In 1992, Brown began his legal career as a law clerk for Judge Thomas Kleinschmidt, Arizona Court of Appeals. After his clerkship he served as city attorney for Show Low, Ariz., from 1993 to 2003 and town attorney for Snowflake, Ariz., from 1993 to 2000. Brown served as a part-time Navajo County Superior Court judge pro tempore in 1998. From 1993 to 2006, he was also in private practice with Brown & Brown Law Offices, PC, in Pinetop-Lakeside, Ariz. Brown was appointed as a judge on the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division One, in 2007 and named chief judge in July 2015.[4]
