Skiers, snowboarders compete at USASA Nationals
Twenty-three skiers and snowboarders from Stowe-based Green Mountain Academy competed in USASA Nationals at Copper Mountain in Colorado.
Over the first two weeks of April, top ranked athletes from all over the U.S. competed at Copper for national titles.
GMA athletes came home with an 30 top 10 finishes, including eight podiums, which include:
• Snowboard all around – Kendall Batdorf and Pax Draugelis
• Snowboard slalom – Brooks Witham and Kendall Batdorf
• Snowboard giant slalom – Pax Draugelis and Kendall Batdorf
• Skier slopestyle – Jack Bartlett
• Skier rail jam – Roisin Schaberg
Other Green Mountain Academy athletes who competed included Dylan Schaeffer, Ben Bartlett, Emmet Jaquith, Stella Hayutin, Makenzie Hayutin, Cal Caputo, James Streeter, Lukas Schaeffer, Connor Heintzelman, James Ryan, Syd Howard, Dom Pitone, Cavan Seligman, Jack Nava, Cassidy Thompson, Marlee Anderson, Tucker Ryan and Izzy Gaetani.
The nonprofit academy focuses on training athletes in slopestyle, halfpipe, rail jam, big mountain and snowboard race disciplines, and is under the direction of executive director Noah Labow.
