Teach America to Swim will run two week-long classes — July 22-26 and July 29-Aug. 2 at 6 p.m. — for anyone 16 years and older who is interested in learning basic aquatic skills and swimming strokes. Teach America to Swim has been running children’s swim classes on Caspian for the past several years.

Two representatives from the National Alliance on Mental Illness who live in the Northeast Kingdom will share their journeys of mental illness and recovery in a free public program, “In Our Own Voice,” at the Greensboro Free Library on Tuesday, June 25, at 5:30 p.m.

Community Columnists

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there and congratulations to all the new high school graduates. By the time you read this column, the 2023-24 school year will be over for both faculty and students at Cambridge Elementary.

We had a mixture of weather this past week: sunshine, cloudy skies, rain and warm and cool weather. It was perfect weather most of the week. This week we should expect hot and humid weather, in the 90s, for three days. Try to stay cool and remember to drink a lot of water.

The second session of Johnson gymnastics’ summer classes are now open for registration. Classes begin the weekend of July 6 and continue for five weeks through Aug. 4. Families can register for Saturdays or Sundays, and classes vary based on age and ability.

Our service began with Bill and Marsha Cox greeting parishioners. The call to worship reminded us that God’s steadfast love saves us in times of trouble. We come today with a heart knowing that God will answer when we call and will save us.

I used to be a Red Sox fan, but lost interest after they started winning the World Series. The fun of rooting for the “underdog” was what I really loved.

After Jesus brought the daughter of Jairus back to life, he and his disciples went to his hometown of Nazareth. The people heard of the miracles of Jesus and invited him to speak in their synagogue on the Sabbath. When Jesus began to teach, many were amazed and asked, “Where did this man get these things? What is this wisdom given him? What are these remarkable miracles he has performed?” …
