The Republicans are investigating the Hunter “Baaaden” affair, to imitate the repetitive intonations emitted by Fox News’ Australian journalist, about the ‘Baaaden’ laptop.
Deplorables, don’t be misled into this dummies-and-ditto-heads dead-end. This is vintage lightweight, GOP tit-for-tat distraction, on par with the Democrats’ ongoing January 6 production.
The Hunter Biden preoccupation amounts to, “They (Democrats) do January 6; we (Republicans) hack away at—or hit back with—Hunter Biden’s laptop from hell.”
The outcome: The Democrats get what they want: détente. They neuter Deplorables, sending us down a political rabbit hole.
We gain nothing from such a foray. It’s zero-sum for Deplorables.
Legal scholar Jonathan Turley, whom I respect, disagrees. Turley, understand, operates within the philosophical parameters of the state. By and large, he believes in the extant integrity of American institutions, even confident that one party is more righteous than the other. When out-of-sync, the good party led by the right people, or so the good professor imagines, is sure to right wrongs through a congressional committee.
Wrong. Not for nothing do we call it the Permanent State, fronted as it is by evil and stupid-party operatives.
Correctly so, the matter of the FBI’s endemic corruption and bias has been settled both in the minds of deplorables and by the objective facts. (FBI Director James Comey anyone? Director Christopher Wray?)
If the GOP were seriously working for Deplorables, and not engaged in tit-for-tat political gotcha—they’d pursue First Principles driven congressional oversight.
Duly, Biden would be summonsed for a hearing charging that by intentionally, and as a matter of policy, leaving the Southern border wide-open and unguarded—in effect inviting the world to invade our country—the president is willfully flouting his constitutional obligation to protect Americans from foreign invaders, and is thus committing treason.
The obligation of a Republican congressional majority is to pursue oversight by investigating and prosecuting a flagrant violation by the president of his constitutional obligation to defend the United States and its people from foreign invasions.
That the incoming Republican congressional majority is already falling flat, opting for showy politicking, instead of a solemn focus on Biden’s treason against his people, is all the more jarring given the GOP’s abject failure to deliver as promised in the 2022 midterms.
Other predictably ominous signs were on display at a recent Republican Jewish Coalition conference, where some Republicans who ought to disappear reappeared.
In particular, “Mike Pompeo, Trump’s hand-picked secretary of State and CIA director,” and Nikki Haley, Trump’s U.N. ambassador. She is threatening to win the presidency, bragging that “she’s ‘never lost an election and [is] not going to start now.’”
Both Pompeo and Haley are known for their robotic, neoconservative sloganeering against Bashar al-Assad’s more enlightened Alawite regime—did you know Syria’s Christians simply love him?—against Putin’s Russian Orthodox traditionalist rule, and the impoverished Iran, against which Israel perpetually agitates.
Trump had surrounded himself with such men and women in whom ingrained was the war forevermore neoconservative foreign policy.
Take Mike Ponce, the former vice president. He told Bret Baier, a Fox News neoconservative host, that it is imperative the “United States and the new Republican majority continue to provide the Ukrainian people with the support they need to defend themselves.”
In other words, enable war forevermore for Ukraine, so its slimy leader, Zelensky, can continue to play his biggest role yet and is exempt from his solemn duty to do diplomacy, even though, to go by biblical standards, “a leader who fails to haggle for the lives of his people is a failed leader.”
Pence spoke to the latest allegation against Russia, namely that of dropping ordnance on Poland, a NATO member. He rashly spouted forth about an Article 5 obligation to go to war for Poland, and then further waffled in his best ponderous, faux presidential manner, that Russia ought to be “transparent” during the investigation into the origin of the bomb that fell on “Ukraine” (sic: it fell on Poland, Mr. Pence). This, when the US is stoking the Russia-Ukraine conflict as vociferously as Zelensky is.
“I’ve gone toe-to-toe with Putin,” boasted Pence. He followed up with the cretin’s commonplace cliche: “Putin understands only strength.” Other than that Trump deployed the worst possible people during his term—Pence stands as a reminder to Deplorables that he and Trump provided lethal arms to Ukraine.
Likely a bit of a fabricator, Pence then blamed Biden for confining billions in Ukrainian military aid to “blankets and boxed meals.” He thinks he alone could truly support Ukraine in the style to which this little tinpot destination has become accustomed. So argued Mr. Pence, striking his best “I’m-presidential” pose.
We are further informed that Pence and wife Karen visited Ukraine … blah blah blah, and he is thus in the position to advise that it is imperative that the USA continue to pump this great Democracy with funds to defend its great democracy.
Of course, the “defending-democracy” premise is one that Fox News’ Tucker Carlson uses in his case against assisting Ukraine in perpetuity. Carlson claims Ukraine is not a democracy, hence deserves no defense.
Both Pence and Tucker use democracy to justify opposing policies, proving only that democracy as a premise for or against a particular American foreign policy is wrong. And an error.
These discrepancies only expose the impoverished neoconservative nature of a foreign policy based on the US’s obligations to act in furtherance of democracy across the world.
“If you are willing to fight communists in your country; we’ll provide you the means”: Mike Pence explained that this is the Reagan doctrine to which he subscribes.
Right there is another good reason to disqualify Pence and jingoists like him from office. Putin’s Russia is not communist; it is traditionalist, reactionary; a Russian-Orthodox centered, somewhat-authoritarian state widely supported by the Russians.
Pence is still working from the defunct, cold-war based Reagan doctrine.
The man, Pence, holds a neoconservative foreign policy and believes his priorities lie with Ukraine, not with the people of the US, Deplorables in particular, whose freedoms are curtailed stateside.
So, the hell with Hunter; call Joe in for hearings, and cancel the neocons while you’re at it.

Nimrata Randhawa, AKA Nikki Haley, was at 3% in a recent Republican poll. Liz Cheney polled at 4%, and Ted Cruz was at 3% as well. Sorry Nikki, we are just not that into you. Pence did not do much better.
So hopefully people are beginning to see the neocons for who and what they are. Elections are a thing of the past anyway. The candidates at the national level are selected. The neocon wars are baked into the system and if the wars suddenly were resolved the neocons would start more. Hell they started the Ukraine War. They are currently trying to heat up the conflict with Syria/Iran as well.
As an example. In Red State Idaho we have four congress critters. Three of these people are all in for the wars, I wonder why. One is sane as far as I can tell. At some level the three know that their constituents do not want the wars but that is irrelevant. The show must go on.
This will only end when Putin clobbers Ukraine, the EU collapses due to massive public rebellion, and Erdogan destroys NATO from within. America’s troops will come home, and there will be a reckoning.
After a Woody Allen movie was torched by Pauline Kael, the (inexplicably) prominent movie critic, Woody formulated: A movie critic must have three attributes: 1) Knowledge of the subject matter; 2) An engaging writing style; and. 3) Good judgment. And, Woody added, Kael was very strong in (1) and (2) …..but lacked number (3).
Reading this essay, I was tempted to believe that Ilana Mercer fits the above paradigm exactly. But then I realized she actually does possess number (3), and is just putting us on to generate comments that address the inability to do anything (“duly summon”; ha ha) holding Biden accountable.
It is hard to respect someone with such little grasp of reality.

Kevin McCarthy is so inarticulate that, when he ran for Speaker after Trump’s election, he was viewed as unacceptable. Then we got Paul Ryan, a libertarian anti-Trumper who refused to provide funding for Trump’s border wall. They would have been better off this time bringing back Newt Gingrich.
And the Senate continues to promote its own self-destruction by continually bringing back Mumbles McConnell to lead them, though he has cost his party the majority in the past two elections. Crafty D Team leader Schumer makes him look pathetic. Seriously, I think Mumbles is more comfortable being in the minority, as must be the R Senators who vote for him.
The close races that they lost, which tipped the balance, were probably rigged. Maybe they allowed the R’s to the win House by a whisker as they wanted Pelosi out. Like JB and Kamala, she’d become an embarrassment. But don’t expect the feckless Grand Old Party (Not) to do anything about ballot fraud either. Trump’s MAGA deplorables have nowhere else to go except for continuing to support their flawed Leader.

That is a synopsis of a much larger process needed to bring the Deep State to an end. The Deep State has been working toward the goal of total world domination since at least the end of WWII…and they will not go gentle into that good night.
The fact that Trump made neocon Mike Pence his VP hardly makes him a “Deep State minion.” It just shows how dumb and uninformed he was.
I have this conversation all the time with friends who still support Trump. The paradox with Trump is, if you are going to argue that he is an honest man, then you have to stipulate that he is as dumb as a rock.
Trump supporters will be annoyed at that but there is no way around it. He is part of the problem or is very dumb.

I have to say, Trump is honest by political standards (a low bar to be sure). He is not that smart, but is cunning, which a necessary skill to survive in the political environment. My main complaint is he is a loudmouth blowhard. He did appoint Originalists to the court, which is going to go a long way toward making the USA a Constitutional Republic again.

Pence is from Indiana, where I also live. Here in Indiana, Pence was largely seen as a social conservative. Trump may have picked Pence to shore up his support among social conservatives. If he wanted a socially conservative running mate, he could have and should have found a social conservative who wasn’t also a foreign policy hawk. A recent Wall Street Journal poll showed only 37% of Republicans want additional financial assistance to go to the Ukraine. The average Republican voter doesn’t want an interventionist foreign policy. One of the reasons Trump won the nomination was because he was seen as the most noninterventionist Republican candidate. He needed to pick someone for his VP who was in the same category.
If Trump, who had never held elected office before he beat the Establishment’s candidate Hillary Clinton, was really a deep state minion, the PTB sure have a funny way of thanking him by spending his entire term of office seeking to derail his agenda, then impeaching him over a perfectly valid phone call. If Trump was a member of the deep state, why did it go to such extremes to steal his re-election win and give it to an old man with dementia who was part of the Washington Establishment for the past 50 years?
The neocon Pence is really not quite the typical traditional Indiana Republican. Indiana and the rest of the Midwest has always had isolationist tendencies. An example of this was Indiana Senator William Jenner, a member of the isolationist Taft wing of the party in the nineteen fifties that opposed the more internationalist Dewey-Eisenhower wing of the party. This isolationism may have partly been because of our large German American population who had opposed being dragged into World War I and War II against Germany. As an Indiana native, I think the main reason for this isolationism here is just Hoosier common sense.
If Trump was going to pick an Indiana Republican for VP, former governor Mitch Daniels might have been a better choice. Daniels believed in low government spending and balanced budgets, and this led him to question the wisdom of expensive foreign wars like our Iraq adventure. Also good would have been Senator Rand Paul from neighboring Kentucky. Both Daniels and Paul fall more into that Midwest tradition of supporting a noninterventionist foreign policy.
How do you know who the establishment’s candidate is? If Trump was not supposed to win…how did he? It is evident that elections are rigged and have been for many years.

McConnell was thrown out of the Army in 1968 under odd circumstances and his discharge records mysteriously disappeared, supposedly for bad eyes, and yet he had to have just passed a rigorous eye exam. It’s a trivial point but there appears to be something wrong with Ms Mercer’s hearing. Fox News’ Australian journalist is clearly pronouncing the offensive name as ‘Byedin’, not ‘Baaden’. Is this female jealousy on her part?
