Outdoor classrooms are available at several City of San Antonio parks.
These are a great way to capitalize on the great outdoors as a place of learning.
School districts and individual schools often use the classrooms as a focal
point for field trips, allowing for a stop along the way to teach students about ecology, environmental sciences, flora and fauna.
Outdoor classrooms at Lee’s Creek Park, 1101 E. Sunshine, and Walker Ranch Historic Landmark Park, 12603 West Avenue, are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The following outdoor classrooms at are available for rental by calling 210.207.3053:
- Comanche Lookout Park, 15551 Nacogdoches Road
- Stone Oak Park, 20395 Stone Oak Parkway
- Salado Creek Outdoor Classroom at Phil Hardberger Park East, 13203 Blanco Road.
A second outdoor classroom is on the horizon for Stone Oak Park in 2016 as part of the 2012-2017 Bond Improvement Project.
