This time around it was feeling like a 3 star until I got to the twist, I was surprised again because I didn’t remember where the story ended up going. However, I’m still not the biggest fan of the ending. This book is only 60 pages, I feel like it left me wanting just a little bit more. But it’s still a fun time with an interesting protagonist and a creepy house and creepy family.
Original review: I read this book for two reasons: Gillian Flynn and a paranormal story line. I read Gone Girl last year and I absolutely loved it and I've been wanting to read more of her books, and since this one is so short I figured why not just read it real quick? It's only 60 pages and yet, those 60 pages built incredible characters and an intense story that held my attention so well. It was creepy and dark and there were amazing plot twists in perfect Gillian Flynn fashion. The beginning was very erotic and the female lead is very manipulative. The middle section of this book is full of creepy, amazing details of this boy Miles who is threatening to murder his family members. The house is "watching" her. I love creepy weird things like this. Then, the 3rd and final part of this book has so many shocking reveals I couldn't keep up with what was happening. It was incredible, I loved it. Then, the ending happened and I have to say, I wasn't a huge fan of that ending, if you can even call that an ending. It was too big of a cliff hanger for my taste, so I ended up knocking off a star in my rating because of it. But other than the very abrupt ending, I really enjoyed this book and Gillian Flynn is still a favorite author of mine....more
Holy shit. That went 0 to 100 real quick. Ugh, I'm so sad because I have obsessively been reading these comics over the last week and a half and now IHoly shit. That went 0 to 100 real quick. Ugh, I'm so sad because I have obsessively been reading these comics over the last week and a half and now I have officially caught up. Now I have to wait until April for the next volume, this sucks! Especially with the cliff hanger at the end of this book! The Whispers are fucking crazy and ruthless. I love a good villain though and I'm excited to see where this goes. I'm also really into Lydia and Carl and I think they're cute. The Alpha of The Whispers is so crazy and cruel like damn. Also I love one of the first scenes in this volume between Rick and Michonne by the ocean. I absolutely adore their friendship. I can't believe it'll be months now before I find out what happens next aklsjdla UGH, why do these comics have to be so addicting? I don't know what I'm going to do with my life now that I'm caught up with this.
SPOILERS BELOW That ending, oh shit! Alexandria finally had it's fair with all the communities and that crazy bald Alpha bitch just went in there and murdered half of Rick's people it seems. She was like "you'll know my border when you see it" and then she had twenty different people's heads on sticks. It was so sick and disturbing. One of those people was the king! Poor Michonne, I know she still had feelings for him. I feel bad for Lydia. Her mother has allowed these men to rape her and her Mom hit her because she was "being weak". I'm so glad she let Rick take her. I think Lydia belongs with Rick's people and I can't wait to see he interact with them. I also really like Maggie as a leader and I like the fact that she killed Gregory. It just proves she's tough and she doesn't take anybody's shit. Negan's cell door was left unlocked and he didn't try to escape and now he thinks Rick will trust him because of this.. Negan's behavior is just so odd. I thought for sure he was going to get out during the fair and go on a killing spree, but the fair isn't over yet so I guess we'll have to wait to see what happens. I hope this incident with The Whispers turns Rick into a badass again and he realizes that sometimes killing is necessary to survive....more
Wow, I really enjoyed this volume. There was hardly any Rick in it, but if I'm being honest t was kind of refreshing and it was a nice break from all Wow, I really enjoyed this volume. There was hardly any Rick in it, but if I'm being honest t was kind of refreshing and it was a nice break from all the Alexandria drama. This one takes place almost entirely at the Hill Top with Maggie and Carl. I really love the idea of these people dressing themselves as zombies. It's so smart. They call themselves The Whispers. We get introduced to a new character named Lydia who is a young, cute teenage girl. I didn't think I would like her but I've got to say I'm really enjoying her character. I love that this volume really focused on Carl and his contribution to the Hill Top and his relationship with Maggie (and Lydia).
SPOILERS BELOW These idiots at the Hill Top want to kill Maggie because they don't want her to be the leader anymore just because of a stupid fight between Carl and these two boys he almost killed while defending Sophia. It was so dumb. The old leader Gregory actually attempts to poison Maggie but luckily Jesus saves the day and rescues Maggie and takes her to the doctor. Lydia and Carl talk while they are both being held in the prison and he starts to like her. He lets her out with Maggie's consent and they go out in the field together. Then, she asks him to remove his glasses so she can see his scars, it was actually pretty cute and sweet. But then, she licks the hole in his eye and says she thinks it's sexy and then Carl gets laid for the first time. I knew Rick should've given Carl some kind of sex talk (especially knowing Sophia lives there and he's no longer under parental watch) but oh well. I do actually think Lydia and Carl are super adorable though and I totally ship it. Then, all of The Whispers shows up at the door step of the Hill Top demanding that they get The Alphas daughter back, Lydia. Lydia volunteers to leave but Carl doesn't want her to go because he found out she was being raped by her people and they aren't safe. At the end of the volume, Carl leaves the Hill Top secretively and sets out to rescue Lydia.
I really enjoyed this volume. I thought it was great character development for Carl and Maggie and I really like Lydia as a new character. I think The Whispers are really cool and I'm interested in learning more about their group. It seems like this series is finally picking up the pace again, I love it....more

Carl is much older, Maggie has had the baby, and Negan has been rotting in Alexandria's prison for some time now.. It's nice to see people living without fear again, and being productive and restarting civilization. I kind of hate the fact that Rick seems so old and unable to take care of himself now though. I just miss badass Rick. I actually like the new group they brought in, lead by Manga. I feel like they can trust her and she gets a good read on people.
SPOILERS BELOW I was so freaked out when the zombies started "talking" and I was like oh god no. I thought it would make this series so freaking cheesy and thank god that wasn't the case. But how interesting, people are disguising themselves as zombies. I think that's a great idea and I love this new plot twist. It's so weird to see Carl all grown up (or at least a lot older) and he wants to live on his own at the Hilltop, and Rick would still live in Alexandria. Even though the world is different now and safer, I would still find it hard if I were Rick to let Carl live somewhere so far. Also, I wonder what will happen with Negan. ...more
Rick is pissing me off. And it feels like I've read this volume before because it's so repetitive.
SPOILERS BELOW What is the fucking point of this warRick is pissing me off. And it feels like I've read this volume before because it's so repetitive.
SPOILERS BELOW What is the fucking point of this war if it's not to kill Negan? Rick finally has the perfect opportunity to kill this monster and he decides now it's time to be civilized? What the fuck Rick? I can't believe Rick thinks Negan will be reasonable. Hasn't he learned based off his experiences with The Governor and the cannibals and every other shitty cruel person that sometimes people can't be reasoned with? They need to die in order for Rick and his people to be safe.... I just can't believe Rick would ever let someone as terrible as Negan go. They way he killed Glenn... He deserves to die for that alone. Rick is becoming too soft and I hate to say it but I agree with Carl. They need to kill Negan to stay alive. At the end when Rick says he wants to watch him rot in a jail cell.. Like what's the difference? Killing him would be better than letting him rot in a jail cell and wasting food and resources on him. I just can't! I don't know what's happening to Rick...
I gave this one 2 stars because I did like how Negan's people covered their weapons in zombie blood so that everyone who got injured gets infected and dies. That's brilliant and I don't know why nobody ever thought of doing that before....more

I love how fierce Rick is in this volume. H'es finally taking control and being a true leader again. I keep thinking Negan can't possibly get any worse and every single volume is proving me wrong.
SPOILERS BELOW I thought Negan was actually a pretty decent guy when he stopped Holly form being raped. That surprised me because I didn't think he would actually stop it, and he killed the guy who tried to rape her. But then he becomes even more monstrous as he pulls up to the gates of Alexandria. I think Rick's plan was great, they pulled up at Negan's place and cause enough loud gunfire for a ton of walkers to storm the place and then they left, leaving them trapped. That was sad when Shiva the tiger died, but it was so funny when Michonne called Ezekiel a pussy. Then Negan pulls right up to the gates of Alexandria like the governor did at the prison and he has Holly tied up with a bag over her head. I knew right away she was a walker and I was like what the fuck? Why wouldn't they think that? Then Holly bites Denise's arm and Negan begins his attack and starts throwing grenades over the fences. Then Heath loses his leg in an explosion and Denise knows it's too late to save her so she decides to spend the time she has left saving everyone else. I love that Dwight is actually on Rick's side and he killed some of Negan's men and gave Jesus the rest of his grenades. Poor freaking Carl, as if this kid hasn't been through enough, gets blasted by one of the grenades and it burns half of his face. He's a tough kid man. Negan is so crazy how he constantly mentions his dick being "so hard" at the sight of all this destruction. He wants to wrap barbed wire around it and call it "Lucille 2" like what kind of crazy fuck thinks that way? Ugh, he's disgusting. He makes my skin crawl. I don't really understand what the fuck happened to Rick at the end of this volume..? He just kind of fell when he was talking to Andrea and Maggie.. Like did he get shot or something? I don't know what happened. Negan see's all the smoke and he thinks they won. But this is only part 1 of "All Out War" so I'm excited to see what happened next....more
3.5 stars I have mixed feelings about this volume. It had some insanely intense scenes that I really loved, but most of the decisions made in this book3.5 stars I have mixed feelings about this volume. It had some insanely intense scenes that I really loved, but most of the decisions made in this book were really dumb and it all felt like it was setting up for the next volumes. Negan is one of the weirdest villains I've ever read about, period. I can't figure him out. He's delusional and crazy, but he's also kind of funny. He has this really weird, dark humor thing going on.
SPOILERS BELOW I guess I'm just disappointed that Rick would be so naive in thinking he could kill Negan that easily, as he's leaving Alexandria. Of course Negan and his people have guns and shit, I don't know what Rick was thinking. I really enjoyed the scene with Negan and Spencer. I haven't been a huge fan of Spencer ever since he's been questioning Rick's authority. He basically asked Negan to help him kill Rick, and then Negan was like "why don't you just do it yourself? Oh yeah because you ave no guts!" and then he goes and cuts open Spencer's stomach with a knife and all his guts spill out and he's like "oh there they are" like what the fuck, he's weirdly funny and morbid. But when Rick sends Andrea to the tower and they all chase after him and ditch the actual plan I was like ugh no Rick. That was idiotic. Of course he has snipers watching that will take you out. Did you really think it would be that easy? Then there's many intense scenes where Carl shoots Lucille (his bat) and Negan loses his fucking mind. He has Rick and his people line up and he starts doing his ennie meanie minny moe thing again. I'm starting to think that that is Negan's "thing" and I'm not gonna lie, I hope they put that in the show. It's iconic to Negan's character. Then Andrea and this guy have this crazy ass fight where he flies out the window of the tower and everyone thinks it's Andrea. That was intense and I liked how it flashes between that scene and Rick's people lined up for Negan, it was intense and it was done so nicely. But then, the fucking tiger comes ad starts biting Negan's people and I was like what the fuck? It was kind of cheesy. Now is when the war begins and I'm nervous. I don't want any of my favorites to die.
One example of Negan being kind of funny is when he says: "I let your son go, I brought him back to you safe and absofuckinglutely sound... like some kind of apocalyptic santa clause. Ho fucking ho." Haha like I know it's dumb but sometimes I laugh at his lines. I also think it's funny how often he uses profanity. I don't know, maybe I'm the only one who finds Negan slightly funny... I probably watch too many movies and tv shows that have dark humor like Dexter and American Psycho haha...more
Well shit, Negan is bat shit crazy. I mean, he's actually delusional. He treats his bat Lucille as if it's an actual living human being. It's unnervinWell shit, Negan is bat shit crazy. I mean, he's actually delusional. He treats his bat Lucille as if it's an actual living human being. It's unnerving. This volume dives deep into the horrors of what it's like living under Negan's control. He has several "wives" that are his wives voluntarily but they get privileges if they are his wife and no longer have to "earn points" and shit, whatever that means? Negan is disturbing and creepy and yet he uses such sarcasm, it's almost like dark comedy. He is reasonable at times but he doesn't even realize how much of a monster he is.
SPOILERS BELOW Carl acts like an idiot and decides to get in the back of Negan's truck as he's leaving, and Carl ends up killing five or six of Negan's men. Then, they get to where Negan lives and its this giant 10 story building. Negan has five wives who all run around hardly wearing anything. It seems like all the people living with Negan have to "earn points" to make a living. If your Negan's wife then you get privileges and you no longer have to earn points. But if you are his wife and he catches you cheating on him, he takes an iron to the guys face in front of everyone. This is something Carl witnessed when he was at Negan's place. I'm not gonna lie I thought Negan was going to rape Carl while he was there. The way he was talking to him, it was so creepy. I thought for sure Carl was about to be molested. So I guess Negan is technically more reasonable than I thought when he let him go, but still. He gives me the fucking creeps. Then Jesus introduces Rick to this place called The Kingdom and it's run by King Ezekiel... It's so weird. He walks around with a lion on a leash and all his men ride on horses and wear knight armor, it's bizarre haha. But Rick asks for his help in taking down Negan and the saviors. Then this guy who got his face burned with an iron by Negan decides to also help Rick take Negan down because he knows his secrets and he can help. I'm excited to see where this goes but I have a bad feeling a lot of Rick's people are going to die in this war coming up. ...more

Two huge characters got killed off what the fuck. I'm so depressed. Negan is fucking crazy and I honestly think he's one of the worst villains in this series to date. So funny story about this particular volume. This might make me a bad person but oh well. I wanted to check it out form the library but for some reason at my local library volume 17 was checked out, but they had volumes 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, and all the rest. You get the idea. So I went to Barnes & Noble because I wanted to purchase this volume, but then I realized each volume is $15 and I finish these volumes in less than an hour and I didn't feel like dishing out the money. So I sat in the starbucks cafe area in the Barnes & Noble and I read this volume in about 40 minutes and then I put it back on the shelf and left. Hahaha that probably makes me a shitty person but I am so OBSESSED with these comics I couldn't stop myself. And I couldn't just skip a volume and go from 16 to 18, especially not with all the shit that goes down in this one! So... oops. I couldn't wait and I have no self control. It was totally worth it though, this volume is amazing!
SPOILERS BELOW Oh my gosh so right in the beginning of this volume Abraham dies. ): It mad me so sad because I was just starting to really like his character. I think he got an arrow through the eye or some shit like that as he was walking with Eugene. Negan's "saviors" are fucking insane. I couldn't believe how ruthless and cruel they are. There are so many of them and they all want to attack Rick's group. Then they have this terrible run in in the middle of the night, Negan's grabs Rick by the neck with this rope and yanks him off the car. Then Negan introduces his barbed wire bat named Lucille and he tells them that all their property now belongs to Negan, and that this is the beginning of their new lifestyle. He's so creepy and disgusting. Negan starts to play "eenie meanie minie mo" and starts to decide which one of them he is going to kill. Then he picks Glenn and it was the saddest thing ever. He hits Glenn over the head so hard that his eye falls out of its socket. Then he continues to bash Glenn's head in with his bat while Rick and the group watch helplessly. It was so fucking sad. Then Negan and his people leave and Maggie starts to beat up Rick cause she's so mad at him. Maggie announced earlier in this volume that she's pregnant with Glenn's baby which makes this all even worse. Maggie and Sophia decide to stay behind at the Hilltop and Rick takes the rest of the group back to Alexandria. Then Andrea tells Rick that Negan's people attacked Alexandria and she took one of them prisoner. Rick decides they can't go against them cause there is too many of them, so he lets the prisoner go, and he decides that they will live in peace with Negan's people. I'm shocked that Rick is basically just rolling over and letting them win but at the same time with all that they've lost and all that they're up against, I understand it. This shit is intense I can't wait to read the next volume!...more

I'm so bummed that this is the last volume I have with me to read because I'm dying to know what happens after this! This volume was full of surprises and was a lot of build up to a lot of shit that is going to go down, I can tell. I think it even introduced a new villain that is going to be bigger and badder than all the previous villains.
SPOILERS BELOW I wasn't sure if I could trust Jesus at first. I was not surprised at all when Rick tied him up and kept him prisoner. But once Negan admitted that he could've untied himself the whole time I knew he could be trusted. The Hilltop seems to good to be true. Clearly the threat of Negan is something that keeps the hilltop from being 100% safe. I think the leader of the Hilltop is weak because he allows Negan to control them so easily. But I think Rick is really naive in thinking his group can go kill Negan and his "saviors" so easily. I think he will come to regret that decision and Negan is going to be way worse than they could've ever thought possible. Rick and the group have dealt with a lot of shitty people in the past but that doesn't mean it'll be easy for Rick's group to take out new threats. I'm curious to see where this is going though. I can't shake the feeling that Negan is going to cause a lot of trouble and a lot of death in Rick's group....more

The thing I did like though is that it had one of the iconic moments from the show in season 6 where someone in Alexandria tries to take over and kill Rick and Rick says the iconic lines: "You really think you're going to take this community from us? From Michonne? From Glenn? FROM ME? Do you have any fucking idea who you're talking to?" It as so epic and iconic just like the show.
SPOILERS BELOW Carl is finally awake and he seems to have lost some of his memory. He doesn't remember that Lori is dead which is really sad and Rick has to tell him. Rick is concerned that Carl is losing his humanity and ability to feel emotions. Rick and Andrea have a few heart to heart talks in this volume which I liked but I don't get Andrea throwing herself at Rick at the end of this volume. But I'm liking Rick more and more with each volume. He's thinking about the future more and he's becoming more vulnerable and allowing himself to be emotional about things. But he is still not trusting and protective of Carl and his people. ...more

SPOILERS BELOW So Morgan got bit on hi arm and Michonne immediately uses her sword to cut off his arm but it's too late. He gets the fever and he eventually dies. I was shocked by this because he hasn't died yet in the show and I love Morgan's character so it was sad. Then, the walkers take over Alexandria and it was so intense and epic just like the show! The last episode of the show ended with Rick and his group using the walkers blood on their poncho and walking through the herd of zombies, and then Sam calling his Mom's name! in this volume we see all the shit that goes down because of this. Sam gets attacked and eaten by walkers, Jessie won't let go of his hand and so she goes down with him. Then, she won't let go of Carl's hand and Rick is forced to chop off Jessie's hand in order to save Carl. It was so crazy and intense. Also, Carl got shot in the eye! It was crazy and it happened so fast I couldn't see exactly what happened. Carl is rushed to the doctor but Rick and the group were able to get rid of the rest of the walkers. This is when Rick realizes that the real threat isn't the zombie anymore, but the people who are alive. You know, fight the dead fear the living type of shit. I really loved this volume. I'm so curious to see what happens now that I'm ahead of the show. ...more

I really like to see how Rick's group interacts with the Alexandria people. Rick realizes very quickly that Jessie is being abused and he decide he needs to act on it.
SPOILERS BELOW After Rick discovers that Jessie is being abused he decides to act on it. The scene where Rick and Pete fight was so accurate to the show when they fly through the window. Then there's the iconic scene where Rick pulls his gun out and Douglas threatens to throw Rick out, and Rick has this crazy melt down. It was so epic to see. Michonne knocks him out just like in the show and Rick realizes that he just put his group in jeopardy. Luckily Douglas understands what he did. However, not long after this, Pete takes a knife and goes after Rick, but while attacking Rick he cuts Douglas's wifes throat. This of course convinces Douglas that Pete is dangerous and Douglas asks Rick right away to kill him. There was a brief moment when these people (who I think are the wolves in the show) come and try to get past the gates and Rick and his people easily take them out and kill them all. This makes Douglas realize how much he needs Ricks group to survive and he decides that Rick should be the leader o Alexandria. ...more

It follows a cop named Tony Chu, who is a cibopathic meaning when he eats food he gets psychic abilities and can see where it came from, and get information, which makes him a pretty good cop. In this world, chicken has been banned in the United States several years ago because of a "bird flu" that went around and killed tons of people. The ideas in this comic book are insanely original and this story is not for the light of heart- there's lot of blood and disturbing and disgusting images. But I really did like it. I think a story like this has a lot of potential and I love how clever of a title Chew is.
The graphics were really nicely done and it fits this world perfectly and it's easy to follow. Tony Chu is a pretty funny main character and I enjoyed this first volume a lot. :) ...more

This volume was a bit slower paced and less exciting than the previous ones but I still enjoyed it a lot. I like that Rick is extremely skeptical of everybody he meets now and he doesn't trust anybody. I can't blame him after all the shit he's been through over the last year since the apocalypse started. But I really like Alexandria so far. It seems like a true sanctuary. I think it's interesting how in these comics the leader is a man named Douglas, and in the show it's run by a woman named Deanna. I actually like Douglas and I think he seems like a really nice leader. But I can see why Rick's group would be skeptical after dealing with The Governor and the hunters. Since I'm completely caught up with the show I can't help but wonder if everything that happened to the group in Alexandria in the show is going to happen in the comics. I also love the Halloween party the Alexandrian's had for the kids in the community. I thought it was so cute. I also like the fact that Rick's group doesn't want to become weak because they know nothing this great lasts forever and they want to be prepared if it gets overrun. I also think Douglas is a little naive because they didn't have a lookout keeping watch over the town. They obviously haven't encountered people as cruel as The Governor and they don't know what it's like when somebody wants everything you have. Either way I'm excited to see how this is all going to work out. (And why are all these old men so attracted to Andrea??? Lmao)...more

All the horrible things Rick has to do are getting to him and he wants to be a good role model for Carl but it's almost impossible in a world like this. The idea of somebody watching the group from afar is really terrifying and creepy.

This is a strong charaA lot of people seem to no like this volume as much, but I would have to strongly disagree. This is one of my favorites so far. This is a strong character development volume and I really enjoyed it. We got to learn a lot more about Abraham and his back story with how his family died, and him and Rick have an important discussion about what it means to survive and what's right and wrong when it comes to killing people. I love how this started with a flashback of Rick and Carl before the apocalypse started and how even then Rick felt like he couldn't keep him safe. Rick is having hallucinations and thinking he's talking to Lori out of guilt. I actually really like the addition of Abraham and his group. Their characters are interesting.
SPOILERS BELOW So Maggie tried to hang herself and that was really sad and unexpected. Abraham nearly killed her when he thought she was dead, but thank god he didn't. I love that a HUGE iconic moment in the show finally happened in this volume! I'd been waiting for it. The scene where Carl nearly gets raped and Rick bites into that guys neck. It was amazing and happened almost exactly like it did in the tv show which made me so happy. Then Abraham and Rick have this amazing heart to heart and discover they aren't so different after all. Then, we finally see Morgan! Which is another exciting thing. his son is a zombie that he has yet to kill, and he seems to be a little crazy. While they are leaving Morgan's neighborhood they come across a giant 2,000+ herd of zombies and it's crazy! They jump out of the car and run into this house and find things to distract the zombies with, and then they're gone. It was so intense. With all this shit going on I don't know why everyone is saying this is boring and slow now. It's action packed! I don't know why Dale doesn't trust Rick all of a sudden and it's really annoying. I have this gut feeling that Dale is going to die soon. ...more

The prison has been overrun and they all had to leave, and they were all separated. I was fangirling over how similar this volume was to the show. It was probably the most accurate out of all the volumes I've read so far. Especially seeing Rick and Carl off on their own, Rick passing out for a couple of days because he's sick, and Carl blaming Rick for everything that happened. Then Carl thinking Rick turned into a zombie, it was so amazing! It was JUST like the show it made me so happy. We also finally get introduced to Abraham, Rosita, and Eugene which is also exciting! The way they meet in the comics is slightly different than how they meet in the show. I really like Abraham's character, he cracks me up.
SPOILERS BELOW I thought it was a little too easy for the entire group to be reunited as easily as they were after all the shit at the prison. I feel lie that's why in the tv show they spent nearly half a season of showing the characters try to find their way back to each other. It seems unrealistic that they would all just run into each other on the street, but then again Hershel's farm is still intact and that's where they all ended up going and meeting again. I think it's funny how they met Abraham and all them just because they pulled up onto Hershel's farm looking for supplies.
My favorite part of this volume was the last scene with Rick and Carl, when Rick gave him the incredibly famous speech saying: "You are not safe. No matter how man people are around you, or how clear the area looks. It only takes a second and it's over." It's so iconic and amazing because it's almost word for word exactly how it is in the show and I love when that happens! ...more
HOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED. This was so brutal and crazy and wow I can't even fathom what just happened. I'm so upset that I don't have theHOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED. This was so brutal and crazy and wow I can't even fathom what just happened. I'm so upset that I don't have the next volume with me at the moment so I'm left with a cliff hanger of sorts. I know I've seen the show so I have an idea of what happens next but the comics are so different form the show. It's different but also the same. I just aksjdlajsla I CAN'T.
SPOILERS BELOW The Governor is alive and he's a ruthless bitch. They really should've taken the opportunity to kill him when they had the chance. I can't believe the amount of death in this volume. Tyreese got his head cut off with a sword by The Governor (in the show it was Hershel so I thought it was interesting that they changed it), and it was so sad. They just had to stand and watch while it happened. Poor Tyreese. He was a HUGE character in these comics and I was shocked to see him die that way. Then, Hershel also gets hot in the head and he basically just gives up and lets The Governor shoot him like what the fuck Hershel? Maggie is still alive out there and she needs you. I was disappointed that Hershel just gave up like that, especially being as religious as he is. He seemed to have the most hope out of all of them. Then fucking Lori died with Judith in her arms like what the fuck!!!!!!!! I didn't know Judith died in the comics and how can they kill a baby ugh. I'm so depressed. I wasn't sure how Lori was gonna die but that was so shocking. The way Rick and Carl are able to get over it so quickly and keep running is shocking. I thought for sure it would make them stop and turn around but nope. I really enjoyed that scene where Rick and Carl are leaving the prison and Rick is saying "Don't look back Carl," because it's EXACTLY like the tv show and I can't believe how perfect they got that scene. I was so excited about it.
But wow so many people died and The Governor is still alive.. or so it seems? I was kind of confused at the end and it was hard to tell if he survived or not but I'm pretty sure he's still alive. If he is alive I wonder how the Governor will eventually die, cause in the show he died as he was trying to take over the prison, so now I'm curious to see where that is going to go. Ugh, I'm so addicted to these comics now. I like that it's different from the show but it's also very similar too. They keep some of the same story lines but it happens to different characters, and then they'll completely shock me at times and it'll be nothing like the tv show. I never know what to expect and it's exciting and it's like getting to watch the show all over again. I'm so excited to continue reading this! ...more
Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh! This volume was amazing! I love how this volume started with a flashback of Lori and Shane. It was nice to see what Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh! This volume was amazing! I love how this volume started with a flashback of Lori and Shane. It was nice to see what actually happened with them when Rick was still in a coma. Glenn and Maggie finally have their wedding! It's the cutest shit ever, with Hershel as their pastor and what not. I just love Glenn and Maggie so much. I really enjoyed the scenes with Tyreese, Glenn, Maggie and Michonne going to the National Guard place and taking out all the Woodbury men. It was epic.
SPOILERS BELOW So, Lori finally had the baby! And surprisingly, nothing went wrong. The baby was born naturally and Lori lived through it and decided to name the girl Judith. I was kind of shocked by this because as we all know in the tv show, Lori has a very unsafe, unplanned delivery and is killed instantly. Now I'm wondering when and how Lori will die? Or if she will die? I don't even know. But Dale got bit on his leg while trying to get gas for the generator while Lori was delivering the baby and they had to cut his leg off but this time it worked! Also, what the fuck? Carol already died? She basically committed suicide while walking up to a zombie? It's so ridiculous. Carol's character in the comics has got to be the most different in the actual tv show because Carol was a weak woman controlled by men in the comics but in the show she's so badass. I just don't understand. I was hoping she would turn it all around and become a badass like she is in the show, but no. Ugh, it's depressing. Also, Glenn and Maggie just decided then want to try and have a baby! Like what even. That just happened in the show in season 6 so this seems really soon. I mean they are still at the prison after all. Also, HOLY SHIT THE ENDING. THE GOVERNOR IS ALIVE AND HE'S COMING TO TAKE THE PRISON I KNEW HE WASN'T DEAD ASKLDHJAK. This was one of my favorite moments from the tv show and I'm so freaking excited to read Volume 8! ...more
