Online MSc/Dip/Cert in Paediatric Emergency Medicine – The University of Edinburgh

The University of Edinburgh’s online MSc/Dip/Cert in Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) offers a flexible collegiate environment in which to study the theory and practice of PEM. It is ideal for those working in Paediatrics and Paediatric Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Primary Care/General Practice. We currently have more than 50 students enrolled from around the world.

Students can choose to study over 1 to 3 years to Certificate, Diploma or Masters level. Guided study, personal research and self-directed learning in our supportive online environment culminates in the presentation of a thesis on a subject related to PEM.  The programme is designed in such a way that, with access to a computer with an internet connection, you will be able to study at the times, and in the places, that suit you best.

The University of Edinburgh is one of the oldest universities in the UK and offers the largest number of postgraduate online distance learning programmes in the country. Online students have remote access to the University’s excellent resources and are able to take advantage of the University’s academic tradition which values and promotes individuality and independence of thought within research.

PgCert/PgDip/MSc in Emergency Medicine - Manchester Metropolitan University

Manchester Metropolitan University is the first and longest established MSc program in Emergency Medicine in the UK. We offer academic recognition for the professional training undertaken by physicians in emergency care settings. Teaching can be delivered online only (at National or International level) or supported by face-to-face sessions in Manchester. The online element is based around the StEmlyns virtual hospital with problem-based learning, online lectures and tutorials, web links and discussion sites. Unit topics include clinical emergency medicine, military medicine, clinical management, research, and other areas of emergency care from which you can select a personalised route for academic assessment.

An experienced faculty with an international track record in emergency medicine and teaching based at the Centre for Effective Emergency Care supervise the course.

MSc in Advanced Emergency Care - University of Sheffield

This is a new course which will provide students with an opportunity to develop both their clinical and non-clinical skills in emergency medicine. The modules have been developed to support clinicians in delivering up-to-date emergency care of the highest quality. The course will appeal to
both senior trainees and career grade doctors in emergency medicine as well as experienced staff
from other backgrounds. To meet the needs of overseas students who may have not previously worked in a UK emergency department the ‘Introduction to UK emergency medicine’ module has been developed. This includes a clinical attachment to an emergency department affiliated to ScHARR.

MPhil/PhD Programme in Medical Education for RCEM Doctors
 
The Royal College of Emergency Medicine in conjunction with the Educational and Social Research Institute, Manchester Metropolitan University is offering the opportunity for research study towards the award of an MPhil or PhD. This will be a part-time route and will provide a professionally oriented academic context for the study of an issue of interest in continuing medical education, particularly within the domain of emergency medicine. It is expected that a PhD programme would take 4-6 years.
