The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is a world leader in setting standards for high quality healthcare and for promoting healthy living. We provide authoritative, evidence-based guidance on the most effective ways to diagnose, treat and prevent disease and ill health. Our guidance is for the NHS, local authorities, social care organisations, charities, and anyone with a responsibility for commissioning or providing healthcare. We support healthcare professionals and others to make sure that the care they provide is of the best possible quality and offers the best value for money, through our implementation programme.

We collate and accredit high quality healthcare guidance and information to help health professionals deliver the best patient care through NICE Evidence.

The Accreditation Advisory Committee considers applications from guidance producers seeking accreditation from NICE. The committee is independent and advisory. Its decisions are recommendations to the NICE Board.

All members of the Accreditation Advisory Committee have equal status, which reflects the relevance and importance of their different expertise and experience. They include health and social care professionals and researchers as well as patient and carer members. All members need to attend regular meetings and undertake background reading.

Applicants should ideally have experience of working with multi-professional committees or working groups at a national or regional level. Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal skills are required, along with an ability to communicate complex issues to differing audiences.
