Source: NASA Since its first appearance in Wuhan, China at the end of 2019, Covid-19 has evolved a global pandemic within three months, with more than 4.3 million confirmed cases worldwide until mid-May 2020. Malaysia have also enforced lockdown at different degrees to contain the spread of the disease, which has brought some positive effects on natural environment. As the Covid-19 pandemic unfolds across the globe, threatening lives and upending the world economy, an unexpected side effect has been a decrease in greenhouse gass emissions. Diagram 1 shows environmental impact of the Covid-19 crisis, from the rise of medical waste to the decline of air pollutants. In Malaysia, Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) analysis conduct between 2 April 2020 and baseline (2 April 2015 - 2019) showed average tropospheric No2 are 36% lower than baseline for the number of "clean" days since the Movement Control Order (MCO) came into force. Malaysian biologists say that investment in seeds and seedlings has lagged far behind restoration commitments over the past decade, and the large number of deforestation has reduced the supply of seeds. In Malaysia, the government's role in forest restoration is very limited, while in Indonesia, government-driven projects dominate. In the Philippines, local communities lack participation in the planning and implementation of forest restoration, so the quality of seeds has not been maintained.
