CONCEPT AND DESIGN INTENTION WHY INDOOR? SPACE SAVING UV-B LIGHT GROW FASTER HYDROPONIC BIGGER YIELD LESS CHANCE FOR PESTS INDOOR FARMING STRONGER SMELL & TASTE 22

SUNLIGHT GROW SLOWER Indoor farming is a method of growing crops or plants, usually on a large scale, entirely indoors. This farming method often implements growing methods such as hydroponics and utilizes artificial lights to provide plants with the nutrients and light levels required for growth.

HOW WILL THIS INFLUENCE MY DESIGN? By considering indoor and outdoor farming, i have researched the general idea and differences between them. Then, in collaboration with my plant-based fine dining restaurant, which provides a portion of more healthy food in cities, i choose to use indoor farming for planting vegetables and better production.

INTERGRATIONDESIGN OUTDOOR FARMING 2.2

By comparing indoor and outdoor farming, indoor farming uses UV-B light to replace sunlight. As a result, it could grow faster and have a more pungent smell and taste on the vegetables or crops. It also produces a more significant yield than outdoor farming using the hydroponic method while having more minor pests.

CONCEPT AND DESIGN INTENTION WHY PLANT-BASED? BOOST IMMUNE SYSTEM LOWER CANCER RISK MAINTAIN A WEIGHTHEALTHY 24

A plant-based diet is based on foods that come from plants with few or no ingredients that come from animals. This includes vegetables, wholegrains, legumes, nuts, seeds and fruits. Plant-based meals help boost the immune system and increase fibre in our body that helps reduce inflammation, get a lower risk of can cer, and maintain a healthy weight.

REDUCE INFLAMMATION INCREASE FIBER 25

INTERGRATIONDESIGN 2.3

HOW WILL THIS AFFECT MY DESIGN?

Understanding the advantages of plant-based in the post-covid environment has inspired me to research certain vegetables or food plating to attract customers and users. Many people have joined plant-based as they know the essence of their health after the COV ID-19 pandemic. The food plating idea from the survey is an art to engage more and more people to get their plant-based meals. For instance, plant-based meals have become the main idea for fine dining restaurants.

A home is a place or shelter for us to live. It can be a place to release our stress and anxiety after a whole day out. While pandemics have made us stay at home 24/7, it has completely changed how the home is defined for us. Nowadays, the home is full of stress, arguments and unconcerned with families members.

HOW DOES IT INFLUENCE MY DESIGN?

Understanding how a home has changed our lifestyle and promoting a space for all family members is the original home feeling in this manufactured home, from creating the typical living room in Malaysia, private dining space for more privacy with family members, in door garden with lots of greenery. Also workspace as conducting a workshop for the users and also the kitchen. People used to say that eating outside is not suitable for health, but here provide a healthy meal while eating at home.

From this study, I can consider what types of vegetables to plant in the indoor farm to produce to the restaurant or grocery. They are all using the same growing method-hydroponic. It can easily accurate how much space needed to use for each types of plants.
