In the Fourth Industrial Revolution FIRST PARTNER MEETING

The 1st Transnational Partner Meeting was hosted by Bulgarian partner and project coordinator Via Pontica Foundation (VPF) in Sofia, in December 2019. The two-day meeting agenda included introductions of partner organisation from 5 countries (Bulgaria, Cyprus, Romania, Greece and Turkey) project implementation and management strategy overview and coordination of future activities. Led by project coordinator VPF, the consortium finalised the plan to reach out to project stakeholders and carry out the survey/questionnaire aimed at (but not limited to): a) the level of awareness regarding Hydroponics and Aquaponics in each partner country, b) the existing opportunities for education on the subject, c) policies and d) the extraction of best practices.More info: https://bit.ly/3lSdUD8

THE SURVEY

Despite the COVID-19 introducing tough challenges to project mobility and task procedures, the consortium managed to complete the survey and met the sample target by the end of July 2020. The survey results indicated that level of awareness and practices vary greatly between partner countries. The consortium carried out analysis of the results, which greatly enhanced the understanding of partners regarding the current state of Hydroponics and Aquaponics, popularity and room for development of smart urban farming· The most suitable channel for expansion in the field and what measures need to be taken, i.e. through public bodies, civil society organizations, or through industrial applications· Current challenges, as identified by stakeholders and professionals in the agriculture sector in partner countriesSupport our research by taking the survey here: https://bit.ly/3pWzs47

RESEARCH RESULTS

The analysis of the research results aims the enhancing of the knowledge over the current state, popularity and room for development of smart urban farming, as well as to assess what would be the most suitable channel for expansion and what measures need to be taken, i.e. through public bodies, civil society organizations, or through industrial applications. https://bit.ly/IO1report

SECOND PROJECT MEETING

FORTHCOMING

Development of the project Handbook – the handbook will be a practical quick-guide with information on Smart Farming and specifically on Aquaponics and Hydroponics.
