Figure out the number of bedrooms and bathrooms you are in need
This will seem obvious, but it’s the most important first point. Regardless of the unit size, make sure that the apartment has the number of bedrooms and bathrooms that you need.
Map it out to see if your existing furniture fits
It’s not too often we will buy all new furniture. Most often the question is: will my existing furniture fit? In either case, there are many of simple ways to resolve the furniture placement question. Cut out the pieces of furniture and arrange on the first piece of graph paper to see if they fit. Make sure you allow space for travel paths. Make sure you allow enough space to pull out table chairs and to get around occupied chairs. See the apartment (or a similar apartment)
Very often you won’t be able to see the actual apartment that will be available for booking, so ask to see a similar type of apartment. Ask your agent that how is this layout different from your apartment? If you already have furniture, bring a piece of paper with a list of the major furniture pieces and their sizes. Also, bring a tape to measure. Before you decide “the apartment”, check to see if your existing furniture fits.
Can you afford it?
Generally, we wish live in bigger space, but they are under your price range ? Place and value varies a lot by region. For example, in one place you may only be able to afford 500 square feet, but in some other place perhaps you can afford 1,000+ square feet.
