How does flying make you feel?

Ich als Pilot fühle mich kaum irgendwo so frei und gelöst wie über den Wolken. Umso mehr freue ich mich deshalb, mich seit zweieinhalb Jahren einem Herzensprojekt widmen zu können: SkyAlps. Die Nachfrage wächst ständig und damit auch unsere Flotte und Motivation, unser Angebot auf das nächste Level zu heben.

In qualità di pilota, non c’è altro luogo dove mi senta libero e rilassato come in volo. Ecco perché sono felicissimo di potermi dedicare, da due anni e mezzo a questa parte, al progetto SkyAlps, a me molto caro. La domanda è in costante crescita, come anche la flotta e la motivazione ad ampliare l’offerta.

Being a pilot, there is hardly anywhere I feel as free and relaxed as I do above the clouds. Which is why I am all the more pleased to have been able to dedicate myself to a project close to my own heart for the past two and a half years: SkyAlps. Die wenigsten Menschen wissen jedoch, welche Aufgaben ein Pilot während eines normalen Arbeitstages zu erfüllen hat. Wie fühlt es sich an, das Fliegen zum Beruf gemacht zu haben? Alexander Sasso, der das Cockpit von SkyAlps sein Büro nennt, erzählt es uns.

Quella del pilota è una professione che gode tutt’oggi di particolare prestigio e ammirazione. Tuttavia, in pochi sanno concretamente quali mansioni svolga durante una normale giornata lavorativa. Com’è volare per mestiere? Ce lo racconta Alexander Sasso, che può chiamare “ufficio” il cockpit degli aerei SkyAlps.

Piloting is a profession that still enjoys particular prestige and admiration today. However, few really know what tasks pilots carry out during a normal working day. What is it like to fly for a living? Alexander Sasso, who can call the cockpit of SkyAlps aircraft his “office” tells us about it.

Herr Sasso, fliegen ist kein 9-to-5-Job. Wie sehen Ihre Arbeitszeiten aus? In der Hochsaison arbeiten wir drei bis maximal sechs Tage hintereinander und starten immer von einer SkyAlps-Basis aus. Oft handelt es sich um meinen Wohnort Bozen; dadurch kann ich ein fast reguläres Familienleben mit meiner Frau und unseren beiden Kindern führen. Manchmal starten wir auch von anderen Flughäfen aus, wo wir vorher als gewöhnliche Passagiere hinfliegen. Bei jedem Flug ist das Cockpit mit zwei Piloten besetzt. Links sitzt der Kapitän, der die Verantwortung trägt, rechts der Erste Offizier. Während einer die Kontrolle über das Flugzeug übernimmt, kümmert sich der andere um die Kommunikation und die Bordsysteme.

Welche Flugphase ist die heikelste? Der Start ist eine der kritischsten Phasen. Das Flugzeug muss bei der Beschleunigung einer besonderen Belastung standhalten; außerdem begegnet man in Bodennähe eventuell Hindernissen. Beim Verlassen des Flughafens gilt es gewissen Wegen zu folgen, die man sich wie Autobahnanschlussstellen vorstellen kann; diese wurden auf das Gelände abgestimmt, um den Luftverkehr effizient zu organisieren und Risiken zu minimieren. Nach Ende der heikelsten Phase während des Steigflugs wird auf einer Höhe von 3000 m – sofern es die Bedingungen erlauben – das Anschnallzeichen abgestellt und der Bordservice nimmt seine Tätigkeit auf. Auch beim Anflug auf den Zielflughafen muss das Flugzeug genauestens überwacht werden, sodass wir uns nach der Landepiste ausrichten und mit der richtigen Geschwindigkeit aufsetzen können.

Flug genauestens von den Technikern, Piloten und Flugbegleitern überprüft. Die Reifen, die Hydraulikflüssigkeit, die Notausgänge, die Notfallausrüstung und ähnliches werden unter die Lupe genommen. Außerdem analysiert die Crew eine Stunde vor Abflug die Route und den Wetterbericht, rechnet den Treibstoffverbrauch aus, untersucht jede eventuelle ungewöhnliche Situation und bereitet Alternativen vor, zum Beispiel bei Motorschäden oder wenn ein Zielflughafen nicht angeflogen werden kann. Wer bringt schon das Auto nach jeder Fahrt in die Werkstatt oder denkt ständig darüber nach, was auf der Straße passieren könnte? Außerdem ist das Bordpersonal bestens darauf geschult, die Passagiere zu betreuen und erste Hilfe zu leisten.

Können Sie ein Beispiel nennen? Viele glauben, dass fliegen gefährlicher ist als Auto fahren, aber statistisch gesehen ist das Flugzeug das sicherste Verkehrsmittel der Welt. Das Flugzeug wird vor und nach jedem

Wie orientieren Sie sich am Himmel? Es mag seltsam klingen, aber es ist viel schwieriger, sich an Land zu orientieren als am Himmel – vor allem auf den Rollbahnen der großen Flughäfen. Dank GPS-Geräten, digitalen Luftfahrtkarten und Kommunikation über Funk ist es praktisch unmöglich, die Route zu verfehlen. Auf einer gewissen Höhe kommt der Autopilot zum Einsatz, aber das heißt nicht, dass wir von da an den Kopf sozusagen in den Wolken haben. Ein Flug muss auf Basis einer Checkliste

Wie sieht es bei den SkyAlps-Flugzeugen mit Geschwindigkeit und Verbrauch aus? Im Unterschied zu den klassischen Linienflugzeugen mit Turbinentriebwerk besitzen unsere Dash-8 Q-400 einen Turbopropantrieb und zeichnen sich daher durch eine ausgezeichnete Leistung aus. Es handelt sich um einen der effizientesten Flugzeugtypen der Welt, dessen Verbrauch bei Kurz- und Mittelstrecken im Vergleich zu Flugzeugen mit Fantriebwerk viel geringer ist. Das Ziel erreichen beide etwa gleich schnell, doch mit SkyAlps werden bis zu 50 % weniger Emissionen produziert.

Seit ich denken kann, fasziniert mich das Fliegen: die Vorstellung, ein Flugzeug zu steuern, und die Tatsache, dass man sich damit schnell von einem zum anderen Ort begeben kann. Trotz des großen Engagements, das mir abverlangt wird, bin ich von meiner Berufswahl überzeugt. Wenn ich die Welt von oben betrachte, freue ich mich wie ein Kind. Ich empfehle immer, der eigenen Leidenschaft nachzugehen, und wenn auch das Fliegen dazu gehört, dann bringt dieser Beruf sicherlich viel Freude mit sich. Sig. Spesso è Bolzano, dove vivo, il che mi consente di condurre una vita familiare pressoché regolare con mia moglie e i nostri due

figli. Talvolta, tuttavia, prendiamo servizio in altri aeroporti, nei quali bisogna recarsi in anticipo, per cui capita anche a noi di essere semplici passeggeri. Per ogni tratta, nel cockpit sono presenti due piloti: a sinistra siede il comandante, che ha la responsabilità del volo, mentre a destra sta il primo ufficiale; uno prende i controlli dell’aeroplano e l’altro gestisce la comunicazione e i sistemi di bordo.

Potrebbe fare qualche esempio? Molte persone hanno la percezione che volare sia più pericoloso che spostarsi in auto, anche se, statisticamente, l’aereo è il mezzo di trasporto più sicuro al mondo. Per cominciare, il velivolo viene controllato accuratamente prima e dopo ogni tratta da uno staff tecnico, così come da noi piloti e dagli assistenti di volo, a livello di stato delle gomme, liquido idraulico, uscite di

Il decollo è una delle più critiche: il velivolo viene sollecitato in maniera importante in fase di accelerazione; inoltre, si è maggiormente vicini a terra e, quindi, a degli ostacoli. Per uscire dall’aeroporto occorre seguire delle vie prestabilite – delle specie di raccordi autostradali, per intenderci – studiate in base alla conformazione del territorio per smistare efficacemente il traffico aereo e minimizzare i rischi. Raggiunta una quota di circa 3000 m, solitamente si può abbassare l’assetto dell’aereo e, se le condizioni lo consentono, si spegne il segnale delle cinture e comincia il servizio di bordo. Anche durante l’avvicinamento all’aeroporto c’è un gran lavoro di monitoraggio, per allinearsi alla pista di atterraggio e arrivarci alla velocità giusta. Come ci si orienta in cielo? Anche se suona strano, risulta molto più complicato orientarsi a terra, specie sulle vie di rullaggio di grandi aeroporti. Tra strumenti GPS, cartine aeronautiche digitali e comunicazioni via radio, è praticamente impossibile perdere la rotta! A una data quota, poi, si inserisce l’autopilota, ma ciò non significa che noi possiamo avere letteralmente la testa per aria, anzi: il volo è un controllo continuo sulla base di check-list volte a garantire la sicurezza sotto ogni aspetto.

Chi porta l’auto dal meccanico dopo ciascun viaggio o ragiona a ogni svincolo su ciò che gli si potrebbe presentare sulla strada? In aggiunta, il personale di bordo è preparatissimo per fornire assistenza, anche di primo soccorso, ai passeggeri. A livello di tempi e consumi come si comportano invece i velivoli SkyAlps? A differenza del classico aereo di linea, dotato di motore a turbina, i nostri Dash-8 Q-400 sono a turboelica, vantando prestazioni eccezionali. Si tratta di uno degli aerei più potenti al mondo, con consumi molto più bassi sul corto e medio raggio rispetto ai turbo-fan: se è vero che la destinazione si raggiunge in circa pari tempo, tuttavia l’aereo SkyAlps emette sulla distanza compiuta fino al 50% di emissioni in meno. Diventare pilota è un sogno ricorrente tra i bambini. Come si ottiene l’abilitazione? La formazione base dura un paio d’anni e comprende una consistente parte teorica più duecento ore di volo. In seguito, per fare esperienza, spesso si intraprendo-

no ulteriori specializzazioni. In ogni caso, quando si viene assunti da una compagnia aerea, si segue il cosiddetto “passaggio macchina” per conoscere a fondo il velivolo da pilotare. Inoltre, senza inglese non si va da nessuna parte! L’addestramento, comunque, non finisce mai e ogni sei mesi noi piloti affrontiamo degli esami al simulatore così come corsi tecnici e di aggiornamento sulle procedure operative. Come mai ha scelto questa carriera, e la consiglierebbe? Volare mi affascina dacché io ho memoria, sia per l’idea di guidare l’aeroplano stesso sia per il fatto di spostarsi velocemente da un luogo a un altro. Nonostante l’impegno che richiede, sono tutt’oggi convinto della mia scelta professionale e, quando guardo il mondo dall’alto, ancora mi meraviglio come un bambino. In generale, consiglio di seguire le proprie passioni e, se il volo è tra queste, sicuramente posso dire che riserva grandi soddisfazioni. Mr. Sasso, being a pilot is certainly not a 9 to 5 job. How are the shifts organised? We have three to a maximum of six consecutive days of deployment in high season, departing from a SkyAlps base. Often it is Bolzano, where I live, which allows me to lead an almost regular family life with my wife and our two children. Sometimes, however, we take service at other airports, where we have to go in advance, so we too happen to be passengers. For each leg, there are two pilots in the cockpit. The captain, who is responsible for the flight, sits on the left, while the first officer is on the right. One takes the controls of the airplane and the other manages the communications and on-board systems. What is the most delicate phase of flight? Take-off is one of the most critical phases: the aircraft is subjected to significant stress during acceleration. In addition, you are closer to the ground and, therefore, to obstacles. To exit the airport you need to follow pre-established routes – a sort of motorway junction, so to speak – designed based on the conformation of the territory to sort air traffic and minimise risks. Once you reach the proper altitude, the trim is ad-

justed and, if conditions permiting, the seat belt sign is turned off and on-board service begins. Even while approaching to the airport, there is a lot of monitoring work. We have to align to the landing strip and arrive at the right speed. How do you orient yourself in the sky? Even if it sounds strange, it is much more difficult to orient yourself on the ground, especially on the taxiways of large airports. Between GPS instruments, digital aeronautical maps and radio communications, it is practically impossible to lose your way! At a certain altitude, the autopilot engages, but this does not mean that we can sit back and forget about everything on the contrary: flying is a continuous monitoring process based on checklists aimed at guaranteeing safety in every aspect. Could you give us some examples? Many people have the perception that flying is more dangerous than travelling by car, even though, statistically, flying is the safest means of transport in the world. To begin with, the aircraft is carefully checked before and after each leg by technical staff, as well as by us captains and by flight attendants. Some of the things checked are the tire conditions, hydraulic fluid, emergency exits, emergency equipment and the like. In addition, an hour before the flight the crew begins to analyse the route and weather reports to calculate fuel consumption and to investigate any possible unusual situations, from engine failure to the impossibility of reaching the destination airport while already preparing alternatives. Who takes their car to the mechanic after each trip or thinks about what might happen on the road at every junction? In addition to all this, the on-board staff is highly trained to provide assistance, including first aid, to passengers. How do SkyAlps aircrafts behave in terms of time and consumption? Unlike the classic airliner, equipped with a turbine engine, our Dash-8 Q-400 have a turboprop drive, offering exceptional performance. It is one of the most efficient aircrafts in the world, with much lower consumption on short and medium ranges compared to turbo-fans. The destination can be reached in approximately the same time, but the SkyAlps aircrafts emits up to 50% less emissions.

Becoming a pilot is the dream for many children. How do you obtain the qualification? Basic training lasts a couple of years and includes a substantial theoretical part plus two hundred hours of flight-training. Later, to gain experience,

Auch wenn die Landebahn lang ist, muss an einem ganz bestimmten Punkt aufgesetzt werden, nicht an einem beliebigen. Fliegt eine Fledermaus an zwei Mäusen vorbei, sagt die eine Maus: „Wenn ich groß bin, werde ich auch Pilot.“

Das bedeutet, unser Hotel öffnet wieder seine Tore für die schönen Dinge des Lebens. Die edlen Suiten und Zimmer sind nicht nur nach Prinzen und Prinzessinnen benannt, es ist auch die hochwertige und elegante Ausstattung, die den Gästen den Eindruck vermittelt, sie wären selbst zum Adelsgeschlecht erhoben worden. Meine Liebe,

wie du weißt, sind wir mittendrin in unserem drei-Generationen-Urlaub in Südtirol. Sophie schickt (auf dem Hotelbett liegend, Kopfhörer auf den Ohren) Fotos in die Welt. Was meine Mutter gerade treibt? Ein Glück, dass ich es nicht weiß. Minou hatte vor der Reise mit Vorurteilen um sich geworfen. „Südtirol? Das ist doch was für alte Leute!“ Wohlgemerkt, in drei Wochen wird sie 75. Alt68erin, Französin, du kennst sie ja. Während ich mich auf jede Massage freue, ein bisschen shoppen hier, eine kleine Beautybehandlung dort, quasselt sie jetzt was von Schlössern (diese Möchte-gern-Revolutionärin!) und Verkostungen (ihr ChampagneSocialism ist unerträglich). Sophie hingegen wollte ihre Ruhe. „Mama, ich will einfach mal nichts tun!“, so ihre Worte am ersten Tag. Du kannst dir vorstellen, wie beschäftigt ich bin, diese Bedürfnisse unter einen Hut zu bringen. Und doch, oh Wunder, gibt es erste Erfolge. Das liegt nicht nur an der Vielseitigkeit des Burggrafenamtes und dieser bezaubernden Kleinstadt Meran. Es liegt daran, dass den Besuchern das Ganze einfach gemacht wird. Überall lockt und duftet der Frühling. In der Stadt, auf den Waalwegen, in den Straßencafés, sogar auf den Tellern. Stell' dir vor, Minou runzelte sogar die Stirn, als ich vorgeschlagen hatte, nicht mit dem Auto anzureisen. Doch nichts großartiger als das! Wir flitzen seit Tagen mit dem Südtirol Guest Pass durch die Gegend. Es funktioniert. Und wie! Der Hauptort Meran, über 700 geschichtsträchtige Jahre alt und politische Verwaltungszentrale des Burggrafenamts, ist unser Wohn- und Wirkungsziel. Aller Antriebslosigkeit meiner Tochter zum Trotz waren wir beide am ersten Tag um halb acht bei einem sogenannten Early Bird unterwegs. Geführte Bewegungseinheit inmitten der erwachenden städtischen Natur. Das fand sie sogar toll. So viele Parks und Promenaden! Madame trafen wir beim Frühstück, wo sie den von Sophie entwickelten Tagesplan zur Auswahl hingelegt bekommen hatte. Sophie hatte sich vorher (auf mein Geheiß, ja, klar) mit der MeranoApp auf die vielen Möglichkeiten gestürzt. Meine Mutter setzte auf lokal. Heißt: direkt vor der Nase. Wie wagemutig, lästerte ich. Auf der eleganten Kurpromenade fand das Merano Flower Festival statt. Ein Meraner Röschen, 24 Nerinen und zwei Workshops

später kam sie sich wie eine Gartenfachfrau vor. Wir alle kamen aus dem Staunen über die Raritäten, die sonst kaum zu finden sind, nicht mehr raus. Für den Nachmittag hatte meine Mutter eine Führung durch die Stadt vorgeschlagen. Gähnen bei Sophie. Grauen bei mir. Führungen habe ich in keiner guten Erinnerung. „Doch“, beharrte sie, „schaut, den hier nehmen wir!“. Sie hatte ein Interview mit einem Stadtführer gelesen: Den Autor mehrerer Bücher rund um Meran und über einen seiner berühmten Gäste, Franz Kafka, fand sie vielversprechend. In der Tat, die Einführung in die Geschichte Merans war kurzweilig, informativ, humorvoll. Und nachdem wir den ersten Abend in einem kleinen Restaurant verbracht hatten, war meine Althippie-Mutter nicht mehr zu halten. Widerstand gebrochen, Begeisterung eingeleitet. Sie schwappte auf die kulinarische Genusswelle. Das ist ein großartiger Start, dachte

KULINARISCH, SPANNEND, GUT ich, damit kommen wir weiter! Am zweiten Morgen war Minou in bester Laune und schlug uns Besichtigungen vor, die sie begeistern würden. Wohlgemerkt: vor allem sie. In Schenna, plapperte sie, gäbe es einiges, was wirklich rocken würde. „Matinée im Schloss Goyen mit Livemusik, Essen und Trinken. Oder, wieder in einem Schloss, ein Gin- und Tonic-Festival mit Fachvorträgen und Verkostungen! Oder den ,Aperitivo lungo‘“, sagte sie mit Blick auf Sophie, „coole DJs, Schlossatmosphäre, nichts für dich?“ Geht’s noch?, dachte ich, meine Tochter ist elf! Doch Minou war nicht zu bremsen und klärte uns über die „Bäuerliche Genusspromenade“ der Algunder auf. „Erst die lokalen Produkte probieren“, schwärmte sie, „und dann einen Abstecher zu diesem tollen Gartenmarkt.“ Bevor ich ihre neue Liebe zu Blühendem in Frage stellen konnte, galoppierte sie mit unerschütterlicher Begeisterung auf ihr eigentliches Ziel zu: „Zum Abschluss: eine Degustation auf dem Dorfplatz von innovativen Winzern und kleinen Weinproduzenten.“ „Weinproduzent:innen“, korrigierte Sophie. Der Seitenhieb, dass sie (gerade sie!) ihrer Zeit hinterherhinke, verschloss Minou den Mund. Zumindest für ein paar

Sekunden. Und ich? War ebenso still. Soll sie doch gehen! Mein Kind braucht frische Luft, bergige Höhen, spektakuläre Natur! Und deswegen hieß es für uns beide am nächsten Tag: raus aus den schicken Schuhen, rein in die Marterwerkzeuge.

BLÜHENDES LAND, WEITE SICHT. WANDERN FÜR PROFIS. ODER FÜR UNS. Hoch auf den Berg! Das junge Wesen an meiner Seite hat für uns beide etwas gefunden. Mit dem Bus nach Partschins, so ihr Vorschlag. Oh, dachte ich, sie will sich nicht etwa an diesem Wasserfall abseilen lassen? (Die Nähe zum Wasserfall täte den Lungen gut. Medizinisch erwiesen, schreiben sie.) Eine Hochgebirgstour im Naturpark Texelgruppe? Mich in letzter Minute zu einer Mountaintrailtour überreden? Wollte sie nicht. Sie schlug uns einen Panoramawaalweg vor – uns, den jüngeren des Trios, einen Rentnerspaziergang! Rings um uns herum duftete der Frühling, das Wasser im Waal plätscherte, die Ausblicke: eine Wucht! Dennoch waren es etliche Kilometer, die wir hinter uns ließen, so dass wir glücklich in dieses Dorf mit alten Ansitzen und Burgen zurückkehrten. Was für ein Ambiente! Als ich zu träumen begann, dass mein Kind vom Wander- oder zumindest vom Spaziergehenfieber gepackt wäre, hieb sie genüsslich in ihren Kaiserschmarrn und meinte: „Mama, morgen strengen wir uns weniger an. Wir haben ja schließlich Ferien!“ „Aber gerne“, antwortete ich. Gedacht habe ich: Aber morgen, mein Herz, ist ein neuer Tag. Zurück im abendlichen Meran erklärte uns Minou das Wesen der Stadt. „Weltoffen“, sagte sie, „international. Traditionell. Kulturell.“ „So so“, sagte ich und wartete auf erhellende Worte, woran sie das festmache. Diese wären gekommen, wäre ihr nicht Sophie ins Wort gefallen. „Mama“, sagte sie, „das war cool heute. Gehen wir morgen wieder wandern? Oder klettern am

Klettersteig Knott in Naturns? Da kann man als Anfänger Klettern üben. Und danach gehen wir in das neue Naturparkhaus, ja?“ Sie war nicht fertig mit ihrer unerwarteten Begeisterung für Outdoor-Aktivitäten. „Und am Tag danach eine Radtour auf dieser, wie heißt die noch, die alte Straße?“ „Via Claudia Augusta“, sagte Minou, „und sie ist nicht nur alt, sondern historisch.“ Ich traute meinen Ohren nicht. War da was im Kaiserschmarrn? Lag’s an der Luft? „Meine Liebe“, flötete Minou überflüssigerweise mit und fixierte mich, „das passt doch super. Du bleibst auf der Aussichtsplattform Unterstell, die direkt am Klettersteig endet und genießt einfach mal die Ruhe.“ Wie ich es liebe, wenn sie mir sagt, was mir gefällt. Mütter! Doch auf ihr Tagesprogramm war ich gespannt. „Und du, Maman? Was machst du morgen?“, fragte ich. „Ach, weißt du, es gibt hier super Geschäfte. Ich glaube, ich bummle durch die mittelalterlichen Lauben. Oder entspanne in der Sauna der Therme, gönne mir eine Massage. Soll ganz relaxend sein.“ Dass mir die Worte fehlten, muss ich nicht extra erwähnen. Aber weißt du was? Jetzt nehme ich, was kommt. Bella vita im Burggrafenamt, ganz einfach. come ben sai, stiamo trascorrendo la nostra vacanza intergenerazionale in Alto Adige. Sophie, spaparanzata sul letto e con le cuffiette, condivide foto con il mondo. Cosa sta facendo mia madre? Ti dirò, sono contenta di non saperlo. Prima di partire, Minou era piena di preconcetti: “Dai, l'Alto Adige è una meta per nonnini!” – e vorrei precisare che tra tre settimane compie settantacinque anni. Ma tu la conosci: ex sessantottina, per di più francese. Mentre io non vedevo l’ora di godermi qualche trattamento rilassante e un po’ di shopping, lei blaterava di castelli (proprio lei, la rivoluzionaria!) e di degustazioni (insopportabile il suo atteggiamento da champagne socialist…). Sophie, invece, non desiderava altro che pace. “Per una volta non voglio fare proprio un bel niente!”, sono state le sue parole. Dunque, puoi solo immaginare quanto sia impegnativo conciliare queste esigenze contrastanti. Eppure, miracolo, fino ad ora ce la stiamo facendo. Sicuramente è grazie alla polie-

dricità del Burgraviato e dell’affascinante Merano, specie a primavera quando tutto profuma di buono e trasmette gioia di vivere: per le vie del centro, lungo i sentieri, nei caffè, a tavola… Inoltre, ai visitatori la permanenza viene resa davvero facile. Pensa che ci stiamo spostando da giorni con i soli mezzi pubblici grazie all’Alto Adige Guest Pass. E dire che Minou aveva arricciato contrariata la fronte quando proposi di andare in vacanza senza l’auto. Invece funziona, eccome! La nostra base è Merano, una graziosa cittadina con oltre settecento anni di storia che oggi è il centro politico-amministrativo del comprensorio Burgraviato. Nonostante lo scarso entusiasmo di mia figlia, il primo giorno abbiamo partecipato al cosiddetto “Early Bird”, una sessione di movimento guidata con partenza alle 7:30, mentre la città si sveglia. Tra i tanti parchi e le passeggiate lungo il fiume, alla fine le è pure piaciuto! Con madame nonna ci siamo date appuntamento per colazione, quando Sophie le ha sottoposto il piano per le ore successive. Poco prima, infatti, aveva fatto una ricerca delle varie attività possibili tramite l’app ufficiale di Merano (su mia espressa richiesta, si intende). Mia madre ha scelto l’opzione più local o, per meglio dire, quella appena sulla porta. Che audacia, ho commentato sarcastica. Lungo l’elegante Kurpromenade si svolgeva il Merano Flower Festival. Non smettevamo di meravigliarci di fronte alle rare varietà di fiori. Una rosa rampicante di qua, svariate nerine di là e due workshop dopo, maman si sentiva già un’esperta di giardinaggio. Sempre lei, per il pomeriggio aveva proposto una visita guidata della città. Sophie era annoiata, io inorridita, perché non avevo un ricordo piacevole di quelle fatte in passato. “Fidatevi!” – insisteva – “Ho letto un’intervista alla guida e promette bene.” Si trattava di un autore di diversi libri su Merano e su uno dei suoi ospiti più illustri, Franz Kafka, e, in effetti, ha saputo darci un’infarinatura della storia locale in maniera coinvolgente, interessante e simpatica. Infine, ci siamo accomodate in un piccolo ristorante. Conquistata dagli eccellenti sapori nostrani, mia madre aveva ormai abbandonato ogni remora sulla vacanza e mostrava solo un’incontenibile euforia. Eccellente, speravo solo

TRA BUON CIBO, EVENTI CHIC E CULTURA LOCALE di continuare allo stesso modo! Al mattino seguente, Minou era di splendido umore ed elencava una serie di eventi super interessanti nei dintorni – almeno per lei. Una matinée nel cortile medievale di Castel Goyen con musica dal vivo, bollicine e stuzzichini; il Gin & Tonic Festival a Castel Scena con conferenze a tema e degustazioni oppure, sempre là, l’Aperitivo lungo. Citando quest’ultimo, ha strizzato l’occhio a Sophie: “Dj fichi, atmosfera chic… non fa per te?” No, ma dico: mia figlia ha appena undici anni! Tuttavia, Minou era inarrestabile e continuava con la sua raffica di proposte: “Andiamo ad assaggiare i vari prodotti locali alla ‘Promenade tra i sapori contadini’ di Lagundo, e poi ci facciamo un giro in questo bel mercato dedicato al giardinaggio”. Non mi ha lasciato nemmeno il tempo di domandarle da dove venisse tutto quell’improvviso amore per fiori e piante, che ha subito presentato estasiata la manifestazione che la intrigava maggiormente: “Infine, non possiamo mancare al Wine Tasting nella Piazza della chiesa per provare le specialità e le produzioni innovative dei viticoltori altoatesini”. “E viticoltrici”, ha subito puntualizzato Sophie. Questa frecciatina (proprio a lei, paladina del femminismo), ha messo a tacere la mamma. Io me ne stavo altrettanto zitta… Che andasse, nessun problema! Ma io e mia figlia saremmo state a contatto con la natura il giorno seguente. Niente scarpe eleganti, ma solo aria aperta, sana fatica e panorami

spettacolari. La signorina aveva già trovato l’itinerario per noi. “Andiamo col bus fino a Parcines…”, ha cominciato. Oh, no! Non vorrà scalare di fianco alla cascata?! (Ok la scienza dice che l’aria respirata nelle sue vicinanze sia un toccasana per i polmoni, però…) E se la sua idea fosse una cima nel Gruppo di Tessa o, peggio ancora, un trail in mountain bike? Grazie al cielo, niente di tutto questo: intendeva percorrere un sentiero delle rogge. Mi è venuto da sorridere: lei, la più giovane del gruppo, che proponeva una passeggiata praticamente da pensionati! Al contrario delle mie aspettative, comunque, abbiamo percorso diversi chilometri prima di tornare in paese, tra castelli e fortezze. Ma il contesto era una meraviglia: il profumo dei boccioli, il gorgoglio dell’acqua, i paesaggi bucolici… Stavo quasi per sperare che tale esperienza avesse fatto nascere in mia figlia la passione per l’escursionismo, quando, rimpinzandosi di Kaiserschmarrn, ha esclamato: “Domani facciamo qualcosa di meno impegnativo. Siamo in vacanza, dopotutto!”. Ma certo, ho risposto. Anche se tra me e me pensavo: vedremo, tesoro mio. Di ritorno a Merano, verso sera, Minou ci ha presentato l’idea che si era fatta della città: cosmopolita e aperta, ma allo stesso tempo legata alle tradizioni. Con uno sguardo eloquente le ho chiesto implicitamente da cosa di preciso lo avesse dedotto, ma, prima che potesse spiegarsi, Sophie se ne è uscita con: “Mamma, in realtà è stato proprio bello oggi. Facciamo una camminata anche domani? Oppure possiamo cimentarci nell’arrampicata sulla via ferrata Knott di Naturno, dicono sia perfetta per i principianti. E dopo andare al centro visite del parco naturale. Che ne dici?”. Non credevo alle mie orecchie. Cosa avevano messo in quel dolce? O era forse l’aria alpina? Stavo per rispondere, ma il suo inaspettato entusiasmo per le attività outdoor non era ancora esaurito: “Il giorno dopo, invece, potremmo percorrere in bici quella… ehm, come si chiama quella vecchia strada?”. Mia madre ha parlato al posto mio: “Via Claudia Augusta, ma piuttosto che vecchia, è storica. Comunque, mi sembra un piano magnifico!”. E, fissandomi, ha aggiunto: “Tu puoi aspettare sulla piattaforma Unterstell in cima alla ferrata e goderti il panorama”. Come amo quando mi dice cosa devo fare… proprio mamme! Ora toccava a me intromettermi, e le domandai i suoi programmi

per l’indomani. “Penso proprio che mi farò un giro per i portici… Ci sono dei negozietti davvero carini! E poi vado a rilassarmi alle terme, in sauna o con un bel massaggio.” Inutile dirti che sono rimasta allibita: proprio ciò che disdegnava quando a proporlo ero io! Ma sai che c’è? Ora prendo quest’esperienza come viene e penso solo a godermi la bella vita e la bella Merano a primavera. Un bacione, o come si saluta qui: pfiati!

As you know, we’re in the middle of our three-generational holiday in South Tyrol. Meanwhile, Sophie (lying on her hotel bed with headphones on her ears) is sending photos out into the world. What is my mum up to right now? Fortunately, I don’t know. Minou was full of prejudices before the trip. “South Tyrol? That’s a place for old people!” Mind you, she’ll be 75 in three weeks’ time. An old French civil rights activist that still thinks she's standing in the picket lines, you know her. While I’m looking forward to every massage, doing a bit of shopping here, a small beauty treatment there, she’s now babbling on about castles (this wannabe revolutionary!) and tastings (her Champagne socialism is unbearable). Sophie, on the other hand, just wanted some peace and quiet. “Mum, I just want to do nothing!” – that’s what she told me on our first day. You can imagine how busy I am trying to reconcile these needs. And yet, oh wonder of wonders, there are some early triumphs. This is not only due to the versatility of the Burgraviato area and the enchanting little town of Merano. It’s because everything is made very easy for visitors. Spring is everywhere, enticing and fragrant. In the town, on the Waalwege (paths along old irrigation channels), in the street cafés, even on the plates. Imagine, Minou even frowned when I suggested not travelling here by car. Yet nothing could have been more amazing! We’ve been whizzing around with the Südtirol Guest Pass for days. It works. Oh, and how! The main town of Merano, which is over 700 years old, steeped in history and the political administrative centre of the Burgraviato district, is where we live and work. Despite my daughter’s lack of energy, we were both

out and about on the first day at half past seven for an “early bird” session. That’s a guided exercise programme in the midst of the waking cityscape. And she actually loved it. So many parks and promenades! We met Madame at breakfast, where she had been given the day’s plan that Sophie had created for her to choose from. Sophie had previously (at my behest, obviously) used the Merano app to browse the countless options. My mum opted for something local. In other words: right under her nose. How daring, I mocked. The Merano Flower Festival was taking place on the elegant Kurpromenade. One Merano rose, 24 nerines and two workshops later, she felt like a gardening expert. We were all amazed at the rarities we saw, which are otherwise hard to find. My mum had suggested a guided tour of the city for the afternoon. Sophie yawned. Dread on my part. I have no fond memories of guided tours. “But,” she insisted, “look, we’ll do this one!”. She had read an interview with a city guide: She thought the author of several books about Mera-

no and one of its famous guests, Franz Kafka, was a promising choice. Indeed, the introduction to the history of Merano was entertaining, informative and humorous. And after we had spent the first evening in a small restaurant, my old school hippy mum was unstoppable. Resistance was broken, enthusiasm was born. She joined the wave of culinary

CULINARY, EXCITING, DELICIOUS pleasure. That’s a great start, I thought, we’ll get somewhere with this! On the second morning, Minou was in high spirits and suggested sightseeing tours that would delight her. Mind you: mainly her. In Scena, she jabbered, there were some things that would really kick butt. “Matinée at Goyen Castle with live music, food and drinks. Or, again in a castle, a gin and tonic festival with expert talks and tastings! Or the Aperi-

tivo lungo”, she said, looking at Sophie, “cool DJs, castle atmosphere, not for you?” Can you believe it? I mean, my daughter is eleven! But Minou was unstoppable and explained what the Lagundo “Farmer’s Pleasure Promenade” was all about. “First we should try the local produce,” she enthused, “and then take a detour to this amazing garden market.” Before I could question her new love of blooming things, she galloped towards her actual destination with unwavering enthusiasm: “Finally: a tasting in the village square from innovative winegrowers and small wine producers.” “Male AND female wine producers,” Sophie corrected. The side blow that she (she of all people!) was behind the times finally shut Minou’s mouth. At least for a few seconds. And me? I was just as quiet. Let her go! My child needs fresh air, mountainous heights, and spectacular nature! And that’s why the next day it was time for both of us to get out of our smart shoes and into our torture gear. Up to the top of the mountain!

BLOOMING LANDSCAPE, SWEEPING VIEWS. HIKING FOR PROFESSIONALS. OR FOR US. The young woman at my side found something to do for the both of us. She suggested we take the bus to Parcines. Oh, I thought, she doesn't want to rappel down this waterfall, does she? (The proximity to the waterfall is good for the lungs. Medically proven, they write). A high mountain tour in the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park? Is she trying to persuade me to go on a mountain trail tour at the last minute? She didn’t want to. She suggested a panoramic trail – for us, the younger members of the trio – a walk for senior citizens! The scent of spring was all around us, the water rippled in the Waal irrigation stream next to us and the views were amazing! Nevertheless, we covered quite a few kilometres, thus we happily returned to this village with its old manor houses and castles. What an ambience! As I began to dream that my child had been bitten by the hiking bug, or at least the walking bug, she tucked into her sweet Kaiserschmarrn egg dish with relish and said: “Mum, we shouldn’t exert ourselves as much tomorrow. After all, we’re on holiday!” “But I’d love to,” I replied. I thought: But tomorrow, my heart, is a new day. Once we returned back to Merano in the evening, Minou explained the essence of the city to us. “Cosmopolitan,” she said, “International. Traditional. Cultural.” “So there,” I said, and waited for her to explain what she meant by that. She would have told me if Sophie hadn’t interrupted her. “Mum,” she said, “that was cool today. Are we going hiking again tomorrow? Or climb on the via ferrata Knott in Naturno? You can practise climbing there if you’re a beginner. And then we’ll go to the new nature park centre, right?” She wasn’t finished

with her unexpected enthusiasm for outdoor activities. “And the next day, a bike tour on this, what’s it called, that really old road?” “Via Claudia Augusta,” said Minou, “and it’s not just old, it’s historic.” I couldn’t believe my ears. Was there something in the Kaiserschmarrn? Was it in the air? “My dear,” Minou whispered unnecessarily and fixed her gaze on me, “that’s great. You can stay on the viewing platform at Unterstell, which ends right at the via ferrata, and just enjoy the peace and quiet.” How I love it when she tells

me what I enjoy. Mums! But I was curious about her programme for the day. “And you, maman? What are you going to do tomorrow?” I asked. “Oh, you know, there are some great shops here. I think I'll stroll through the medieval arcades. Or relax in the sauna at the spa, treat myself to a massage. It's supposed to be really rejuvenating.” Needless to say, I was at a loss for words. Hoch hinaus in Dorf Tirol Verso il paese di Tirolo e ancora più su

Hoch oben ist man hier auf jeden Fall, denke ich und lasse den Blick über das weite Etschtal und das Meraner Land schweifen. Vor wenigen Minuten befand ich mich noch in Dorf Tirol und eine kurze Seilbahnfahrt später stehe ich hier auf 1400 m inmitten einer Aussichtsplattform und studiere die Namen der Gipfel am Horizont. Es ist nicht mein erster Besuch auf der Hochmuth und doch versetzt mich dieser Ort jedes Mal ins Staunen. Das liegt zum einen am Panorama, zum anderen an der Plattform selbst. In der Form eines stilisierten Tragekorbs gebaut erinnert sie an die beschwerliche Bearbeitung der Felder an den Steilhängen – damals, als die mit Erde und Mist

gefüllten Körbe mit Seilwinden die Äcker rund um die Muthöfe hinaufgezogen wurden. Letztes Jahr habe ich meinen Ausflug auf der Hochmuth als Startpunkt für eine besondere Wanderung genutzt. Ich habe mich auf den Weg zu der größten hochalpinen Seenplatte der Ostalpen gemacht. Auf 2500 m schillern zehn kristallklare Bergseen in der Sonne, die Spronser Seen. Sieben Stunden lang folgte ich den Pfaden durch den größten Naturpark Südtirols, begegnete Gämsen und Murmeltieren und rätselte über urgeschichtliche Felszeichnungen. Dieses Jahr muss ich zu Fuß keine 2000 Hm überwinden. Dafür geht es gleich hunderte Meter in die Tiefe. Die Hochmuth ist einer der be-

liebtesten Paraglidingspots im Meraner Land. Noch high vom Adrenalin lasse ich es am nächsten Tag gemütlicher angehen und unternehme eine Zeitreise in ferne Jahrhunderte. Marmorportale, frühgotische Wandmalereien und ein Rittersaal erzählen auf Schloss Tirol vom mittelalterlichen Leben. Gleich darunter befindet sich die Brunnenburg, heute ein Landwirtschaftsmuseum. Mein Kulturausflug endet hier aber noch nicht. Mit dem Sessellift schwebe ich runter in die Kurstadt Meran und bummle durch die alten Laubengänge. Nach vielen Eindrücken bringt mich der Lift zurück nach Dorf Tirol. Die Reben unter meinen Füßen leuchten bereits in der Abendsonne, genauso wie die

Olivenbäume und Zypressen auf der Falknerpromenade, wo ich den Tag ausklingen und den Blick noch einmal in die Ferne wandern lasse. Penso proprio che da Tirolo la vista su Merano e sulla Val d’Adige sia tutto un altro spettacolo. Bastano poi solo pochi minuti di funivia per ritrovarmi ancora più su, esattamente a un’altitudine di 1400 m, e poter studiare i nomi delle vette da una piattaforma circolare. Non è la prima volta che raggiungo i Masi della Muta, eppure riescono a emozionarmi sempre e comunque, sia per il panorama sia per l’interessante realizzazione architettonica dal quale è possibile contemplarlo. La piattaforma, infatti, ha la forma di cesta stilizzata: un riferimento alla realtà rurale di un tempo, quando i contadini, che coltivavano i ripidi terreni della zona, facevano salire con la carrucola le ceste piene di terra e concime. Ricordo che l’anno scorso partii da qui per fare un’escursione davvero speciale, la quale mi condusse al più esteso gruppo lacustre d’alta quota delle Alpi Orientali. Siti a 2500 m, trovai ben dieci bacini cristallini che brillavano al sole: i Laghi di Sopranes. Camminai per sette ore lungo i sentieri del più grande parco naturale dell’Alto Adige, avvistai camosci e marmotte, e ammirai le incisioni rupestri preistoriche. Oggi, tuttavia, anziché fronteggiare un dislivello di 2000 m a piedi, devo solo godermi un volo nel vuoto per centinaia di metri, perché la Muta è anche uno degli spot più gettonati per praticare parapendio. Per compensare la forte scarica di adrenalina, l’indomani mi concedo una visita tranquilla al Castel Tirolo con i suoi portoni in marmo, gli affreschi del primo gotico e la Sala dei cavalieri, che custodisce secoli di vita medievale. Scendendo più giù si trova Castel Fontana, il quale ospita un museo agricolo. Continuo il mio viaggio culturale abbassandomi ulteriormente di quota. Salgo sulla seggiovia e arrivo in centro a Merano per passeggiare sotto gli storici e freschi portici e rilassarmi. Sarà lo stesso mezzo a ricondurmi a Tirolo: vedo le viti sotto ai miei piedi inondate dalla luce del tramonto, come succede anche agli ulivi e ai cipressi lungo la Passeggiata Falkner. Corono la giornata guardando verso l’o-

rizzonte e riempiendomi ancora una volta gli occhi di meraviglia. This is definitely a high altitude, I ponder, while I let my gaze wander over the wide Adige Valley and the Merano countryside. A few minutes ago, I was still in Tirolo – now, one short cable car ride later, I'm standing on an observation deck at an altitude of 1,400 m, studying the names of the peaks that dot the horizon. It's not my first visit to Alta Muta. However, this place never ceases to amaze me. This is partly due to the stunning views and partly because of the platform itself. It is built in the shape of a stylised basket, a reminder of the arduous task of working the fields on the steep slopes. Back in the day, baskets laden with earth and manure were pulled up with winches to the fields around the Muta farms. Last year, I used my trip to the Alta Muta as the starting point for a special hike. I set off to the largest high alpine lake district in the Eastern Alps. Ten crystal-clear mountain lakes, the Sopranes Lakes, shimmer in the sun at 2,500 m above sea level. I followed the paths leading through the largest nature park in South Tyrol for seven hours, encountering chamois and marmots while marvelling at prehistoric rock paintings. However, this year I don't have to climb the 2,000 m of elevation on

foot. Rather, I have to descend several hundred metres. The Alta Muta is one of the most popular paragliding spots in Merano and its environs. Still high on adrenaline, I decide to take it easy the next day and embark on a journey back to distant centuries. Marble portals, early Gothic murals and a knights' hall all tell of life in the Middle Ages at Tirol Castle. The Brunnenburg, an agricultural museum, is located just below. My cultural adventure doesn't end here, however. I take the chairlift down to the spa town of Merano and stroll through the old arcades. After a wealth of impressions, the chair lift takes me back to Tirolo. The vines beneath my feet start to glow in the evening sun, as do the olive trees and cypresses on the Falkner Promenade. I end the day here and let my gaze wander into the distance once more.

TAG 2 ULTENTAL Heute erkunden wir von Kuppelwies aus den Ultner Höfeweg, eine 18 km lange Wanderung durch die ursprüngliche Natur des Ultentals. Alte, urige Bauernhöfe säumen den Weg. Die Strecke offenbart Ursprünglichkeit und Authentizität, begleitet von einem imposanten Wasserfall und den legendären Urlärchen. Nach fünf Stunden sind unsere Sinne belebt, die Beine ermü-

det. Das Kneippbecken am See kommt uns da gerade recht … TAG 3 HAFLING-VÖRAN-MERAN 2000 Durch lichten Lärchenwald wandern wir bergauf. Unser Ziel: die Stoanernen Mandln am Tschögglberg, dem Hochplateau von Hafling, Vöran und Meran 2000. Wir folgen dem Weg, gewinnen an Höhe, und plötzlich, wie aus dem Nichts, ist er da: ein riesiger Teppich aus lila-weißen Krokussen – oder ein Meer an pinken Alpenrosen. Ein Bild wie gemalt. Steil führt der letzte Abschnitt hinauf zum Gipfelkreuz, das – umkreist von hunderten Steinfiguren – vor dem Antlitz der mächtigen Dolomiten aufragt. Überwältigende Magie. Vette imponenti, vallate pittoresche, un soleggiato altipiano. Cosa rende la primavera così incantevole sulle montagne intorno a Merano? Una risposta in tre tappe. GIORNO 1 VAL PASSIRIA La via s’inerpica sul ripido pendio. A ogni metro, la quotidianità si allontana. Proprio come il nostro punto di partenza, il soleggiato borgo di Stulles in Alta Val Passiria. L’aria pura riempie i polmoni. Tutt’intorno, verdi alpeggi punteggiati da antichi fienili. Finalmente, davanti a noi, gli Stuller Mahder, un’ampia distesa di prati in fiore. Sullo sfondo, le cime innevate del Gruppo di Tessa e le Alpi Venoste. Solo questa vista vale ogni fatica. GIORNO 2 VAL D’ULTIMO Da Pracupola, ci avventuriamo lungo la Via dei masi (in tedesco Ultner Höfeweg), un percorso di 18 km nella natura incontaminata della Val d’Ultimo. Masi contadini storici, una suggestiva cascata e larici secolari: a ogni passo si può apprezzare uno scorcio di autenticità. Dopo cinque ore di cammino, i sensi sono rivitalizzati, ma le gambe affaticate. Il percorso Kneipp sulle sponde del lago fa al caso nostro… GIORNO 3 AVELENGO-VERANOMERANO 2000 Saliamo attraverso un bosco di larici. La nostra meta sono gli Omini di pietra sull’Altipiano del Salto, con le località di Avelengo, Verano e, in quota, l’area escursionistica Merano 2000. Seguiamo il sentiero e, improvvisamente, eccola lì: una

distesa di crochi bianchi e lilla – oppure un mare di rose alpine di colore fucsia. Un ultimo ripido tratto e raggiungiamo la croce di vetta che, attorniata da costruzioni di pietre impilate, offre una vista privilegiata sulle maestose Dolomiti. Che meraviglia! DAY 2 ULTIMO VALLEY Today, starting in Pracupola, we explore the Ultner Höfeweg trail: an 18 km-long hike in the Ultimo Valley. The path is lined with rustic farmhouses and passes through unspoilt, authentic nature. We pass an imposing waterfall and legendary ancient larch trees. At the end of the five hour walk, our senses are invigorated while our legs have become tired. The Kneipp pool by the lake is just what we need now… DAY 3 AVELENGO-VERANO-MERANO 2000 We head up the mountain through the larch forest. Our goal: the Stoanerne Mandln (“stone men”) on the Monzoccolo mountain. This high plateau is home to Avelengo, Verano and Merano 2000. We follow the trail uphill and stumble across a giant carpet of crocuses, blooming in bright white and purple as well as a sea of pink alpine roses! The last section leads up a steep climb to the summit cross, which – surrounded by hundreds of stone figures – towers in full view of the mighty Dolomites. An overwhelmingly magical experience.

Berlin hat es geschafft, aus seinem Hauptstadt-Trash einen Kultstatus zu machen und lockt seit vielen Jahren kreative Köpfe aus aller Welt in die knapp Vier-Millionen-Einwohner-Stadt. So auch das NOA Kollektiv aus Architekten und Innenarchitekten, das neben Turin, Mailand und dem Hauptsitz in Bozen seit 2018 auch einen Standort in Berlin hat. Dass die Gründer Stefan Rier und Lukas Rungger dabei immer schon den Weitblick im Sinn hatten, zeigt sich an einigen ihrer abgeschlossenen Projekte, wie dem schwebenden Pool des Hotel Hubertus oder der Aussichtsplattform Iceman Ötzi Peak (3251 m), mit dem sie es ins Finale des italienischen Architekturpreises geschafft haben. Von Berlin aus greifen sie nun in die Welt und realisieren Projekte in den Niederlanden, Kroatien, den USA und der Karibik. Aber auch Berlin selbst ist schon eine kleine Welt für sich, finden sich hier bei Streifzügen durch die Stadt sowohl kulinarische als auch architektonische Werke aus aller Welt. Die spannende Geschichte der Stadt zu Zeiten des Kalten Kriegs und der Berliner Mauer ist hier wahrhaftig an jeder Ecke spürbar und verleiht ihr einen westlichamerikanischen Touch. Aber auch durch die großflächige Zerstörung der Stadt im Zweiten Weltkrieg haben sich Berlin und seine Architektur zu dem entwickelt, was es heute ist: ein Schmelztiegel historischer und menschlicher Einflüsse. Mein perfekter Urlaubstag am Ritten La mia perfetta giornata di vacanza sul Renon

Es ist früher Morgen, als ich im Taxi Richtung Bozen Zentrum sitze. Der Kaffee im Flugzeug hat nicht nur meine Sinne, sondern auch meine Vorfreude geweckt. Früh aufstehen lohnt sich, denke ich, als ich an der Rittner Seilbahn aussteige. Die Gondel fährt gerade los, aber das macht nichts, denn nur vier Minuten später kommt die nächste und bringt mich in zwölf Minuten auf das Hochplateau und somit fast direkt vor die Haustür des Gloriette Guesthouse, meiner Unterkunft in Oberbozen. Schon gleich zieht mich die moderne Architektur des Gebäudes in den Bann und mein Blick wandert nach oben. Ich kann es jetzt schon kaum erwarten, später in den Infinity-Relax-Pool auf dem Dach einzutauchen! Erstmal aber lasse ich bei einem Erfrischungsdrink an der Bar die ganzen liebevollen Details auf mich wirken. Danach heißt es sich kurz im Zimmer frischmachen

My perfect Renon Holi-Day

und das Gras im kleinen Privatgarten unter den Füßen kitzeln spüren, bevor es ab in die Radklamotten geht. Bereits beim Anblick der Wälder und Wiesen in der Seilbahn sah ich mich auf dem E-Bike den höchsten Gipfel befahren. Auf einen Gipfel geht es gleich tatsächlich, nämlich auf das Rittner Horn. Ich folge Landstraßen und Wanderwegen und fahre vorbei an alten Bauernhöfen. Da ich mich an meinem ersten Urlaubstag nicht gleich verausgaben will, nehme ich in Pemmern die Bergbahn Rittner Horn und spare so rund 500 Hm. Auf dem Gasteiger Sattel habe ich schließlich den höchsten Punkt der Tour mit einem fantastischen Bergpanoramablick erreicht. Voller Schwung geht es auf demselben Weg zurück nach Oberbozen. Im Gloriette tausche ich Radklamotten gegen Bademantel und tauche in der finnischen Panoramasauna im Rooftop Spa in die Entspan-

nung ein, während die Bergspitzen in der Abendsonne glühen. Der Hunger treibt mich schließlich hinunter ins Puro Restaurant. Hier werde ich mit besonderen Köstlichkeiten der alpin-mediterranen Küche verwöhnt. Während ich Bissen für Bissen genieße, denke ich an den nächsten Tag. Morgen Vormittag werde ich erstmal dank der kostenlosen RittenCard mit der Seilbahn hinunter nach Bozen schweben und mir auf dem Waltherplatz einen Aperitivo in der Sonne gönnen. Und dann? Vielleicht eine zweite E-Bike-Tour, eine Wanderung – mit oder ohne Lama –, eine Runde im Infinity-Relax-Pool auf der Dachterrasse … Es gibt so viel zu erleben. Ich werde mich einfach treiben lassen … È mattina e mi trovo su un taxi diretto a Bolzano centro. Il caffè in aereo ha risvegliato i miei sensi, nonché la voglia di go-

dermi appieno la vacanza. Vale davvero la pena alzarsi presto, penso mentre scendo alla stazione a valle della funivia del Renon. Una corsa sta partendo proprio ora, ma non mi affretto, tanto tra appena quattro minuti salirà la prossima che in soli dodici minuti mi porterà a Soprabolzano, praticamente sulla porta del mio alloggio: la Gloriette Guesthouse. L’architettura moderna dell’edificio mi affascina sin dal primo istante; volgo lo sguardo in alto e noto la suggestiva infinity pool sul tetto: non vedo l’ora di immergermici! Ma prima mi gusto il drink di benvenuto al bar, assorbendo pian piano la piacevole atmosfera curata in ogni dettaglio. Quindi, mi dirigo in camera, mi prendo un attimo per camminare a piedi nudi sull’erba del giardinetto privato per poi mettermi in tenuta sportiva per un tour in e-bike. Mi immaginavo in sella alla bicicletta per boschi e prati in fiore solo a guardare i paesaggi dall’alto della funivia, ora è realtà: pedalo lungo strade sterrate e sentieri, superando vecchi masi contadini. La meta è il Corno del Renon. Non volendo esagerare il primo giorno di vacanza, alla località Pemmern prendo la cabinovia, che mi fa guadagnare senza fatica circa 500 m di dislivello. Alla Sella dei sentieri ho raggiunto il punto più alto dell’itinerario e mi riempio gli occhi della splendida vista su vette e vallate. Ritemprate le energie, rientro alla guesthouse lungo lo stesso percorso. Qui, passo dalla tuta da ciclismo a un morbido accappatoio, per poi abbandonarmi al re-

lax nella sauna panoramica della Rooftop Spa, ammirando le cime rosseggianti al tramonto. Un certo languorino mi induce infine a scendere al ristorante interno Puro Fine Dining, dove mi deliziano con prelibati piatti che celebrano i sapori alpini uniti a influenze mediterranee. Mentre assaporo ogni boccone, comincio a fantasticare sulla giornata seguente. Per cominciare, al mattino potrei scendere a Bolzano con la funivia, gratuita grazie alla RittenCard, e sorseggiare senza fretta un aperitivo nella soleggiata Piazza Walther. E dopo, dopo… Magari un altro giro in e-bike, un’escursione (con i lama?) o un bel bagno nella infinity pool – c’è così tanto da vivere! Mi lascerò ispirare dall’emozione del momento… It's early in the morning as I'm sitting in the taxi heading towards the Bolzano city centre. The gondola is just leaving, but that doesn't matter. The next one arrives just four minutes later and takes me up to the high plateau in only 12 minutes. Now I'm almost on the doorstep of the Gloriette Guesthouse, my accommodation in Soprabolzano. The modern architecture of the building mesmerises me straight away and leads my gaze upwards. I can hardly wait to dive

into the infinity pool on the roof later! Before I do, however, I enjoy a refreshing drink at the bar and take in all the intricate details. After that, it's time to freshen up in my room. I let the grass tickle my feet in my small private garden before I get into my cycling gear. I could already see myself cycling to the highest peak on my e-bike right away when I saw the forests and meadows from the cable car. In fact, I'm about to cycle to a summit, namely the Corno del Renon. I follow rural roads and hiking trails and pass old farmhouses. Not wanting to get ahead of myself right away on my first day in the mountains, I take the Corno del Renon cable car in Pemmern, which saves me around 500 m in altitude. I finally reach the highest point of the tour on the Sella dei Sentieri peak with a fantastic panoramic view of the mountains. I return to Soprabolzano on the same route, brimming with energy. Back at Gloriette, I swap my cycling gear for a bathrobe. I immerse myself in relaxation in the Finnish panoramic sauna located in the rooftop spa, while the mountain peaks are glowing in the evening sun. Finally, my appetite forces me down to the Puro Restaurant. Here I am spoilt with special delicacies from the Alpine-Mediterranean cuisine. As I am savouring every single bite, I am already thinking about the next day. The first thing I'll do tomorrow morning is take the cable car down to Bolzano using the free RittenCard and treat myself to an aperitivo in the sun on Piazza Walther. And then? Maybe a second e-bike tour, a hike (with or without a llama), a dip in the infinity relaxation pool on the roof terrace... There's so much to experience. I'll just go with the flow…

Innerhalb kurzer Zeit hat sich die Südtiroler Fluglinie SkyAlps in der Luftfahrt erfolgreich etabliert. Im Interview blickt Josef Gostner, Präsident von SkyAlps, auf die letzten Jahre zurück und erklärt, welche Wege die Fluggesellschaft in Zukunft einschlagen wird.

Nel giro di poco tempo, SkyAlps si è affermata con successo nel settore dell’aviazione. In questa intervista, il suo presidente Josef Gostner traccia un bilancio degli ultimi anni e presenta quale rotta intende seguire la compagnia aerea altoatesina in futuro.

Herr Gostner, Sie sind selbst passionierter Pilot. Wann saßen Sie zum ersten Mal im Cockpit und welches Gefühl verbinden Sie damit? Zum ersten Mal im Cockpit saß ich mit 18 Jahren und fand das Erlebnis sehr aufregend. Beim Fliegen fühlt man sich wie ein Vogel, der über alles hinwegschwebt. Es eröffnet eine einmalige Perspektive, die mich bis heute sehr beeindruckt. Fliegen bedeutet für mich grundsätzlich eines: viel Freiheit. Seit SkyAlps im Jahr 2021 zum ersten Mal abgehoben ist, ist sehr viel passiert. Wie erleben Sie die Entwicklung der Fluggesellschaft? Wir sind in vergleichbar kurzer Zeit sehr stark gewachsen und werden dies auch weiterhin tun. Wer uns anfangs ausschließlich mit Urlaubsflügen in Verbindung gebracht hat, der kennt uns inzwischen auch als Business-Airline. Wir haben noch sehr viel vor und geben auch in Zukunft alles, um unser Angebot zu optimieren.

Wie viele Passagiere hatten Sie 2023 insgesamt an Bord? Wir haben das Jahr 2023 mit 105.000 Passagieren abgeschlossen. Zum Vergleich: Im Vorjahr waren es rund 65.000. SkyAlps ist mit klassischen Urlaubszielen gestartet und integriert nun mehr und mehr Business-Verbindungen ins Flugprogramm. Worauf basiert diese Entscheidung? Unser Flugzeugtyp Dash-8 Q-400 eignet sich hervorragend für Kurz- bis Mittelstreckenflüge und ist damit das ideale Flugzeug für zahlreiche Strecken, die sich als besonders spannend für Businessreisende etabliert haben. Die Nachfrage nach solchen Verbindungen ist sehr hoch, allerdings sind sie für viele große Airlines nicht mehr rentabel. Das birgt ein großes Potential für SkyAlps.

Mit steigender Passagierzahl und mehr Destinationen erhöht sich auch der Bedarf an Flugzeugen. Welches Flottenziel streben Sie an? Wir sind von zwei Maschinen im Jahr 2021 auf inzwischen sechs Maschinen gewachsen und beabsichtigen, unsere Flotte innerhalb 2024 auf bis zu 14 Maschinen zu erweitern. Sie setzen ausschließlich auf die Dash-8 Q-400 als Maschinentyp. Warum? Die Dash-8 Q-400 ist ein hocheffizientes Flugzeug mit Turboprop-Antrieb, das sich ideal für unsere Bedürfnisse eignet: Zum einen ist das Flugzeug optimal für Startund Landebedingungen zwischen den Bergen und somit auch für Bozen; zum anderen ist dieser Maschinentyp wie gemacht für Strecken im Regionalsegment, da er Platz für bis zu 76 Personen bietet, im Vergleich zu anderen Regionaljets bis zu 50% an Emissionen einspart und weniger Lärm bei Start und Landung verursacht.

Wie setzt sich SkyAlps für eine nachhaltigere Luftfahrt ein? Gemeinsam mit Tamarack Aerospace, dem führenden US-amerikanischen Unternehmen im Bereich smarte Luftfahrttechnologien, arbeiten wir daran, das weltweit effizienteste, leiseste und nachhaltigste Regionalflugzeug der Welt zu entwickeln. Im September 2023 haben wir zudem unseren ersten Flug mit nachhaltigem Treibstoff (SAF – sustainable aviation fuel) durchgeführt und beabsichtigen, diesen künftig je nach Verfügbarkeit vermehrt einzusetzen. Planen Sie für die Zukunft eine verstärkte Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Fluggesellschaften? Wir sind mit zahlreichen Flughäfen und -gesellschaften im Gespräch, um unser Angebot kontinuierlich zu erweitern und

unseren Passagieren einen noch besseren Service zu bieten. Wir sehen uns als "Zubringerdienst" zu den großen Drehkreuzen Europas – sei es von Bozen aus, aber auch von anderen Regionalflughäfen, an denen wir präsent sind. Wie optimistisch blicken Sie der anstehenden Sommersaison entgegen? Wir haben neue spannende Ziele, von denen wir uns einen starken Start erhoffen. Beliebte Destinationen bleiben weiter im Angebot. Entsprechend blicken wir dem Sommer sehr positiv entgegen. Auf welche neuen Verbindungen dürfen sich Reisende im Sommer 2024 freuen? Ab Bozen nehmen wir in erster Linie die griechische Insel Korfu, Stuttgart und London-Gatwick mit ins Angebot. Daneben bieten wir Direktflüge von Bozen nach Sardinien, Sizilien, Kalabrien, Apulien, Kroatien und weiteren Zielen in Deutschland. Parallel bleiben Regionalverbindungen bestehen, wie Düsseldorf–Linz und Crotone–Rom. Neu hinzu kommen außerdem Verbindungen ab/nach Mostar in BosnienHerzegowina und ab/nach Verona. Avevo diciotto anni ed è stata un’esperienza entusiasmante. In volo ci si sente come un uccello che si libra alto nel cielo, si aprono prospettive che non ci si immagina. In una parola, per me volare significa libertà, tanta libertà. Molto è cambiato dal primo volo di SkyAlps nel 2021. Come vede il suo sviluppo? Siamo cresciuti considerevolmente in breve tempo, e continueremo a farlo. Chi all’inizio ci associava solo ai voli per le vacanze ora ci considera anche per gli spostamenti d’affari. Di progetti ne abbiamo ancora tanti da realizzare e ci impegneremo al massimo per rendere la nostra offerta sempre migliore. Quanti passeggeri hanno volato con voi nel 2023? Alla fine dell’anno abbiamo contato 105.000 passeggeri in totale; per fare un confronto, nel 2022 erano circa 65.000.

SkyAlps ha iniziato con le classiche mete turistiche, mentre ora sta integrando nel piano di volo sempre più collegamenti business. A cosa è dovuta questa decisione? Il nostro Dash-8 Q-400 è un tipo di aeromobile che si presta bene ai voli a breve e medio raggio, ed è quindi perfetto per numerose rotte che si sono dimostrate particolarmente interessanti per i viaggiatori d’affari. La richiesta è davvero elevata, ma diverse grandi compagnie aeree non considerano più redditizie simili tratte. Ed ecco che subentra SkyAlps.

We aim to keep it that way. If at first we were known more as a holiday airline, we are now also renowned as a business airline. Within 2024 we would like to expand our fleet to fourteen planes. You exclusively rely on the Dash-8 Q-400 planes. Why? The Dash-8 Q-400 is a highly efficient turboprop plane. This is ideal for our needs, as the plane is perfectly situated for starting and landing in between the mountains – thus also for the airport in Bolzano. Additionally, because the plane has a capacity of 76 seats, it was basically made for flights in the regional segment. Compared to other regional jets, the Dash-8 Q-400 produces up to 50% less emissions and less noise during take-off and landing.

What new destinations can passengers look forward to in the summer of 2024? From Bolzano we are adding the Greek island Corfu, Stuttgart and London-Gatwick as destinations. We also offer direct flights from Bolzano to Sardinia, Sicily, Calabria, Apulia, Croatia and other destinations in Germany. Additionally, regional connections like Düsseldorf-Linz and Crotone-Rome will stay in the flight plan. There will also be new connections from and to Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as new additions from and to Verona.

Mhmm... what a tantalising scent. Spicy and tangy, yet somehow sweet. In late April, everything in Velturno revolves around fresh herbs – and rightly so. After all, it is the sun-drenched mountain climate of South Tyrol that gives the flora its intense aroma and bright colours. Visitors can get their fill of seeing, smelling and, of course, eating them at the herbal market in Velturno (April 27th), which marks the start of the “Taste of Spring” in the Isarco Valley. This is where herb lovers from various side valleys meet and proudly present their homegrown products: tea blends, ointments, cosmetic goods, aromatic essences for infusions and wellness treatments and, of course, medicinal herbs that you can process yourself. Enjoy a delicious “Krapfen” (South Tyrolean salty doughnut) filled with spinach while folk musicians create a festive atmosphere in the background. For those who have now really acquired a taste for fresh herbs, we recommend taking part in a guided tour of the herb garden at the Oberpalwitterhof farm in Barbiano. The Lageder family cultivates over 100 organic varieties of herbs here and transforms them into a wide range of products. The sunny slopes in Barbiano also invite you to go on leisurely hikes, for example to the three churches of Bagni Tre Chiese with their interlocking chapels. The fruity flavours of these fine wines are particularly refreshing in spring. If you would like to combine a tasting with a visit to a winery, you should consider “At the Winegrower's” (May 4th). This is the day of the open cellars, when a free shuttle service takes interested visitors from winery to winery. Zwischen Almrosen und Edelweiß Tra rose e stelle alpine

Among alpine roses and edelweiss

Heute ist es so weit. Wir machen uns auf eine Entdeckungswanderung in einem der schönsten Almgebiete Grödens: Col Raiser. Früh morgens treffen wir uns an der Talstation der Umlaufbahn in St. Christina und während wir Richtung Dolomiten hochschweben, gehen wir nochmal unsere Route durch. Eine dreistündige Rundwanderung mit einem Höhenunterschied von etwa 350 m wird uns an traditionellen Hütten und bizarren Felsformationen vorbeiführen. Unser erstes Ziel ist die Regensburger Hütte, die wir nach kurzer Zeit erreichen. 1888 wurde sie hier auf 2040 m als eine der ersten Berghütten Grödens vom deutschösterreichischen Alpenverein errichtet. Als nach Ende des Ersten Weltkriegs Südtirol

an Italien überging, übernahm der CAI von Florenz die Verwaltung, weshalb die Schutzhütte auf Italienisch den Namen „Rifugio Firenze“ trägt. Mittlerweile befindet sich die Hütte in den Händen der Provinz Bozen und wird seit Jahrzehnten von Familie Perathoner bewirtschaftet. Nach einem schnellen Kaffee setzen wir, begleitet vom 360°-Blick auf die Dolomitengipfel, unsere Wanderung in Richtung Ciamps fort. Bei Plan Ciautier, unterhalb der Südwände der Geislerspitzen, erreichen wir mit 2309 m den höchsten Punkt unserer Wanderung. Von hier zweigen einige Wege Richtung Klettersteige ab. Wir aber wandern weiter über die Hochalmen und staunen über die vielen Alpenblumen wie das Edelweiß, die

weltweit erste Pflanze, die unter Naturschutz gestellt wurde. Als plötzlich ein hohes Pfeifen durch die Stille dringt, bleiben wir stehen. Geduld ist gefragt, doch es lohnt sich: Ein paar Meter vor uns hält ein Murmeltier auf einem Felsen in der Sonne Ausschau nach Feinden. Beglückt von dieser Begegnung wandern wir weiter Richtung Piera Longia, einem steilen Felszahn, der wie ein Hinkelstein 60 m in den Himmel ragt. Daneben befindet sich die gleichnamige Almhütte, wo wir bei einem Jausenbrettl mit Speck und Käse neue Kraft tanken. Einige Familien haben es sich neben uns gemütlich gemacht, die Kinder spielen auf der Wiese, streicheln Esel und laufen den Hühnern hinterher. Schließlich ist es Zeit für

den Rückweg Richtung Bergstation, wo wir nach insgesamt 7,6 km ankommen. Wir sehen uns nochmal an den Dolomitengipfeln satt und verinnerlichen den Anblick des Langkofels, der Geisler- und Steviagruppe, bevor wir mit der Umlaufbahn wieder ins Tal hinunterschweben. Assudëi – auf Wiedersehen Col Raiser. Oggi è il grande giorno! Partiamo per un’escursione in una delle zone più belle della Val Gardena, il Col Raiser. Ci incontriamo di prima mattina alla stazione a valle della cabinovia a S. Cristina e, mentre questa ci porta in quota, ripassiamo l’itinerario: un tour ad anello con un dislivello totale di circa 350 m da percorrere in suppergiù tre ore; passeremo per diverse baite e rifugi, godendo della vista sulle affascinanti formazioni rocciose delle Dolomiti. La nostra prima tappa, dopo poco tempo, è ai 2040 m del Rifugio Firenze, o, in tedesco, “Regensburger Hütte” perché eretto dalla sezione di Ratisbona nel 1888 come uno dei primissimi rifugi della Val Gardena. Dopo la Grande guerra, tuttavia, quando l’Alto Adige venne assegnato all’Italia, la struttura passò in mano al CAI di Firenze – da qui il nome. Oggi è di proprietà della Provincia di Bolzano e viene gestito da decenni dalla Famiglia Perathoner. Beviamo un caffè al volo e ci rimettiamo in marcia in direzione Ciamps, accompagnati da splendidi panorami montani. Arrivati a Plan Ciautier, ai piedi della parete sud delle Odle, tocchiamo il punto più alto dell’escursione: 2309 m. Da qui si diramano diversi sentieri verso vie ferrate. Noi, però, continuiamo a camminare lungo gli alpeggi, meravigliandoci della quantità di fiori presenti, tra cui la stella alpina, la prima pianta al mondo a essere dichiarata specie protetta. All’improvviso, un fischio acuto risuona nel silenzio e ci fermiamo di colpo, sorpresi e incuriositi. Con un po’ di pazienza, riusciamo a scorgere una marmotta a qualche metro di distanza che, appostata su un masso, scruta il territorio per avvistare eventuali nemici e lanciare l’allarme. Rallegrati da questo incontro, proseguiamo verso la Piera Longia (ladino per “pietra lunga”), uno spuntone di roccia di ben 60 m che spunta dal terreno. Di fianco, sorge l’omonima malga, dove ci concediamo una rinvigorente merenda altoatesina a base di speck e formaggio. Accanto a noi si sono accomodate alcune fa-

miglie, i cui bambini giocano sul prato, accarezzano gli asinelli e rincorrono le galline. Quindi, è ora di tornare alla stazione a monte, dove giungiamo dopo un totale di 7,6 km percorsi. Ci riempiamo ancora una volta gli occhi di bellezze dolomitiche – tra il Gruppo del Sassolungo, le Odle e la Stevia – prima di prendere la cabinovia e scendere a valle. Assudëi, arrivederci Col Raiser. Today is the day. We embark on a discovery hike through one of the most beautiful mountain pasture areas in Val Gardena: Col Raiser. We meet early in the morning at the valley station of the cable car in S. Cristina. As we float up towards the Dolomites, we go over our route one last time. A three-hour circular hike with around 350 m of difference in altitude will take us past traditional huts and bizarre rock formations. Our first destination is the Regensburger Hut, which we reach after a short hike. It was built by the Austrian-German Alpine Club at an altitude of 2,040 m as one of the first mountain huts in Val Gardena in 1888. After the end of the First World War, when South Tyrol became part of Italy, the CAI of Florence became the administrative centre, which is why the refuge is called “Rifugio Firenze” in Italian. Nowadays, the hut is owned by the Province of Bolzano and the Perathoner family has been running it for decades. After a quick coffee, we continue our hike towards Ciamps, accompanied by 360° views of Dolomite peaks. At Plan Ciautier, below the southern face of the Odle peaks, we reach the highest point of our hike: 2,309 m

above sea level. From here, several paths branch off towards via ferratas. We, however, continue our hike across the high alpine pastures and marvel at the many different alpine flowers. These include the edelweiss, the world's first plant to ever be declared a protected species. When suddenly a high-pitched whistle pierces the silence, and we stop. Patience is required, but it's well worth it: a few metres ahead of us, a marmot is sitting on a rock in the sun, looking out for predators. Delighted by this encounter, we hike on towards Piera Longia, a steep rocky outcrop that rises 60 m into the sky – like a menhir. The mountain hut next to it bears the same name. Here we recharge our batteries with a snack of South Tyrolean bacon and cheese. A few families have made themselves comfortable next to us. Children are playing in the meadow, petting the donkeys and running around after the chickens. Finally, it's time to head back towards the mountain station, where we arrive after covering a total of 7.6 km. We take another glance at the Dolomite peaks and internalise the view of the Sassolungo, Odle and Stevia groups before taking the cable car back down into the valley. Sie ist die einzige italienische Athletin, die in ihrer Disziplin bei den Weltmeisterschaften Gold gewonnen hat – und sie ist auch die europäische Wasserspringerin mit den meisten Podestplätzen: 62 Medaillen in 20 Jahren. Heute ist Tania Cagnotto mit Leib und Seele Mama und weiß ganz genau, was es bedeutet, mit zwei Kindern im Alter von zwei und fünf Jahren ein Flugzeug zu besteigen. „Mit etwas Organisation und Teamwork ist nichts unmöglich“, sagt sie. Mühe, Disziplin und Opferbereitschaft kennt sie sehr gut – genauso wie die Nervosität, bevor man vom Turm ins Wasser springt. Das Planen einer Reise inklusive Zeitmanagement und Logistik ist machbar und geht auch mit einer Portion Spaß einher, wenn es um Urlaub geht. „Ich versuche, immer dann zu fliegen, wenn die Kinder für gewöhnlich schlafen“, erklärt Cagnotto und gibt zu, dass es nicht immer nach Plan verläuft. Die Zeit im Flugzeug gehört nämlich vor allem für die ältere der beiden Töchter zum schönsten Teil der Ferien. „Es gefällt ihr besonders, aus dem Fenster zu schauen. Sie ist neugierig, sieht sich um und spielt mit dem Schwesterchen. Seit SkyAlps direkt von Bozen fliegt, ist es für uns sehr angenehm, denn wir erreichen den Flughafen in wenigen Minuten. Wir müssen also weder Stunden vorher losfahren noch am Gate lange Wartezeiten überbrücken.“ Man könnte daher sagen, dass der Urlaub bereits in der ersten Minute entspannt beginnt und im Flugzeug gleich noch besser wird. „Sowohl das Bord- als auch das Bodenpersonal sind sehr zuvorkommend und bieten ausgezeichneten Service und Komfort“, erzählt Tania Cagnotto. Wenn man sie fragt, was ihre Lieblingsreiseziele sind, dann antwortet sie, ohne zu zögern: „Hauptsache ans Meer.“ Dafür spricht wohl auch ihr Hochzeitsfest, das sie auf der Insel Elba verbracht hat. Es freut sie daher, dass SkyAlps ab Mai 2024 nach Olbia, Cagliari, Catania, Lamezia Terme und Brindisi fliegt. Hinzu kommen die Destinationen Ibiza, Kroatien und – ganz neu – Korfu. „Die griechische Insel könnte auf der Liste für einen unserer nächsten Sommerurlaube landen“, sagt Tania Cagnotto lächelnd. Dunque, pianificare un viaggio, in termini di tempo, logistica e spostamenti, è sicuramente un’impresa fattibile e anche divertente quando ci si prepara per andare in ferie: “Cerco di prendere i voli in orari in cui le bimbe solitamente dormono”, anche se rivela che poi non sempre i piani vanno come sperato. Ecco allora, che quella in aereo risulta essere la parte più bella della vacanza, specie per la figlia più grande: “Le piace guardare fuori dal finestrino, si incuriosisce di ogni cosa, si guarda attorno, gioca con la sorellina”. E continua: “Da quando SkyAlps vola direttamente da Bolzano, godiamo di maggiore comodità nel raggiungere l’aeroporto in pochi minuti da casa, senza doverci muovere con largo anticipo e dover rimanere in attesa al gate per molto”. Si potrebbe dire, dunque, che l’esperienza comincia sin da subito in maniera rilassata e prosegue ancora meglio durante il volo: “Il personale a bordo, ma anche a terra, è sempre affabile e attento a offrire servizi e comfort di qualità”. Se le si domanda quali sono le mete predilette, risponde senza esitare: “Quelle di mare…” – la dice lunga l’aver celebrato le sue nozze all’Isola d’Elba. Le farà piacere sapere che i collegamenti della compagnia altoatesina con Olbia, Cagliari, Catania, Lamezia Terme e Brindisi cominciano già da maggio 2024. Seguiranno poi quelli con Ibiza, Croazia e, novità di quest’anno, Corfù: “Bello, potrebbe rientrare tra le prossime tappe dell’estate”, si rallegra Tania Cagnotto. So the time on the plane turns out to be the most beautiful part of the holiday, especially for her eldest daughter: “She likes to look out the window, she gets curious about everything, her eyes wander, and she plays with her little sister.” Tania continues: “Since SkyAlps flies directly from Bolzano, we enjoy greater convenience in reaching the airport just a few minutes from home, without having to leave well in advance and having to wait at the gate for a long time.” You could say that the experience begins immediately in a relaxed way and continues that way throughout the flight: “The staff on board and on the ground are friendly and attentive to offering quality services and comfort.” If you ask her what her favourite destinations are, she replies without hesitation: “The ones by the sea...” It says a lot about her that she celebrated her wedding on the island of Elba. Korfu-Stadt verzaubert mit verwinkelten Gassen, unzähligen Tavernen und der „Alten Festung“, die auf einer Halbinsel neben der Spianada erbaut wurde. Per esplorare il resto dell’isola ci si può spostare comodamente con un’auto a noleggio. Chi conosce i piccoli paesi dell’Alto Adige noterà una certa somiglianza con quelli dell’entroterra corfioto, per via delle strette strade di montagna che si aprono su scenari inverosimili. Naturalmente, non può mancare un tour lungo la costa: a nord si trovano le località balneari di Roda e Acharavi con le loro ampie spiagge sabbiose. A est, invece, la costa si presenta frastagliata con ripide scogliere e baie per lo più ghiaiose. Anche le spiagge di Glyfada ed Ermones, a ovest, meritano una sosta. La rigogliosa vegetazione di Corfù prospera di ulivi e acacie, ma anche di agrumi. Das Kloster Panagia bei Paleokastritsa Der Ort Paleokastritsa liegt an der nordwestlichen Seite von Korfu. Schon von Weitem erkennt man den gigantisch ins Meer hineinragenden Felsen, auf dem hoch oben das blendend weiße Kloster Panagia thront. Es wurde 1228 gegründet, die Gebäude, die man heute sehen kann, stammen aber aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. Neben zahlreichen schönen Aussichten kann man hier ein kleines Museum und eine Klosterkirche besichtigen. Auch ein gepflegter Garten und viele schöne Motive warten darauf, entdeckt zu werden. Bei Paleokastritsa befinden sich zudem sechs kleine Buchten mit goldfarbenen Sandstränden. Sie sind ein Highlight für Badefreunde und ideal zum Schnorcheln. Kap Drastis Kap Drastis ist ein beliebtes Fotomotiv auf Korfu. Die spektakulären Felsformationen aus weißem Kalkstein ragen majestätisch aus dem türkisblauen Meer empor. Vom Parkplatz im Dorf Peroulades aus gelangt man nach einer ca. 30-minütigen Wanderung hinauf zum Kap Drastis. Wer diesen Ort hingegen lieber aus einer anderen Perspektive entdecken möchte, dem empfiehlt sich eine Bootstour, bei der man die Felsspitze des Kaps vom Wasser aus bestaunen kann, oder eine Tour durch die lagunenartige Bucht inklusive Schnorchelstopp. Das Bergdorf Pelekas Typisch korfiotisch, das beschreibt dieses Bergdorf am besten: Kleine Gemischtwarenläden reihen sich an Tavernen und Cafés in Familienhand. Pelekas ist westlich von Korfu-Stadt gelegen und von uralten Olivenbäumen und Zypressen umgeben. Zu seinen Füßen befinden sich das Meer und traumhafte Badebuchten. Kein Wunder also, dass es hier die schönsten Sonnenuntergänge der Insel zu sehen gibt. Besonders bei einem Spaziergang zum Aussichtspunkt Kaiser‘s Throne lässt sich der orangene Himmel bewundern. Übrigens: Schon Kaiser Wilhelm II. soll den Sonnenuntergang hier genossen haben. Der Pantokratoras Neben dem wunderschönen Kloster Ipsilos Pantokratoras befindet sich hier im Norden das ideale Wandergebiet für alle Aktivur-

lauber. Rund um den höchsten Berg der Insel – den Pantokratoras (ca. 907 m) – erstreckt sich der Corfu-Trail mit einer Gesamtlänge von 220 km. Der Wanderweg führt der Küste entlang durch das grüne Dickicht der Olivenbäume und lädt an einsamen Stränden zum Verweilen ein. Wer sich nach atemberaubenden Eindrücken in noch unberührter Natur sehnt, ist hier richtig. Ganz besonders spektakulär ist die Tour im Lichterspiel bei Sonnenaufgang. Zwillingsbucht Die beiden zur Bucht gehörenden Kieselsandstrände zählen zu den schönsten der Insel und liegen etwa eine Stunde von Korfu-Stadt entfernt. Versteckt im Nordwesten Korfus, sind sie nur durch einen schmalen Landstreifen voneinander getrennt. Die Besonderheit ist, dass jeder Strand eine andere Wassertemperatur aufweist. Vom Bergdorf Afionas aus erreicht man den Porto Timoni Strand nach einer rund einstündigen Wanderung oder einfach bequem mit dem Boot.

Was man dabei auf keinen Fall vergessen sollte: Wasser, Sonnenschutz und Verpflegung. Benachbarte Inseln Spannende Orte gibt es allerdings nicht nur auf Korfu selbst. Mit der Fähre lassen sich die Diapontischen Inseln nordwestlich von Korfu bestens erkunden. Zu ihnen gehören Erikoussa, Mathraki und Othoni. Alternativ lohnt sich ein Bootsausflug Richtung Südosten, wo die beiden Inseln Paxi und Antipaxi mit traumhaften Stränden locken. Saranda mit der antiken Stadt Butrint Last but not least empfiehlt sich ein Abstecher nach Albanien. Saranda und Butrint eignen sich ideal für einen gemütlichen Tagesausflug. Die Überfahrt mit der Fähre von Korfu nach Albanien dauert ca. eine Stunde und kostet ungefähr € 20. Highspeed-Fähren oder der „Flying Dolphin“ bringen Urlauber hingegen in nur 30 Minuten nach Albanien. Monastero di Panagia a Paleokastritsa La cittadina di Paleokastritsa si trova a

Fu fondato nel 1228, ma gli edifici odierni risalgono al XVIII secolo; oltre a tanti belvedere, qui si possono visitare anche un piccolo museo, la chiesa, un giardino ben tenuto e godere di tante altre bellezze. Nei pressi di Paleokastritsa sono presenti sei piccole baie con spiagge di sabbia dorata – imperdibili per chi adora nuotare nel mare cristallino e fare snorkeling. Capo Drastis Si tratta di un luogo iconico di Corfù, spesso fotografato. Ciò che lo rende speciale sono le spettacolari formazioni rocciose di calcare bianco, che si ergono maestose dal mare blu turchese. Dal parcheggio del villaggio di Peroulades, ci vogliono circa trenta minuti per raggiungere Capo Drastis. Se desiderate una prospettiva insolita per ammirarlo, un tour in barca è l’ideale, oppure un giro che costeggia la baia lagunare e si ferma per fare snorkeling. Ecco come si potrebbe descrivere al meglio questo villaggio di montagna, dove piccoli negozi di ogni genere si alternano a taverne e caffè a conduzione familiare. Pelekas si trova a ovest della città di Corfù ed è circondato da ulivi secolari e cipressi. Ai suoi piedi ci sono il mare e splendide baie per nuotare… non c’è molto da stupirsi, dunque, se è il luogo perfetto per contemplare i tramonti più belli dell’isola, ad esempio dal Trono del Kaiser. Si dice che anche il re Guglielmo II si sia goduto il cielo infuocato da questo punto panoramico. Monte Pantokratoras Oltre al suggestivo monastero di Ipsilos Pantokratoras, a nord si trova anche una zona escursionistica adatta a tutti gli appassionati del genere. Il Sentiero di Corfù si estende per 220 km intorno al monte più alto dell’isola – il Pantokratoras (circa 907 m) – snodandosi lungo la costa attraverso il verde degli ulivi e invitanti spiagge tranquille. Il senso di stupore e meraviglia di fronte alla natura incontaminata è garantito, specie alle prime luci dell’alba.

Baia dei gemelli Le due spiagge di ghiaia della baia sono tra le più affascinanti dell’isola e si trovano a circa un’ora di auto dalla città di Corfù. Appartate a nord-ovest, sono separate solo da una stretta striscia di terra e sono peculiari per avere ciascuna una temperatura dell’acqua diversa dall’altra. Dal villaggio montano di Afionas si può raggiungere la spiaggia di Porto Timoni in un’ora di camminata o più semplicemente in barca. Da portare assolutamente con sé: acqua, protezione solare e un po’ di cibo.

Twin Coves The two pebbly sand beaches that form part of the bay are among the most beautiful on the whole island and are located approximately one hour from Corfu Town. Tucked away in the north-west of Corfu, they are only separated by a narrow strip of land. What makes them so special is that each beach has a different water temperature. You can reach Porto Timoni beach from the mountain village of Afionas via a one-hour hike – or easily by boat. Make sure you don't forget to bring along a few essentials: water, sun protection and food.

Other than enjoying the numerous magnificent views, you can visit a small museum and the monastery church. There are also many beautiful motifs and a well-tended garden just waiting to be discovered. Furthermore, there are six small bays with gold-coloured sandy beaches near Paleokastritsa. A particular highlight for swimming enthusiasts and the ideal spot for snorkelling.

The Pantokratoras Along with the beautiful Ipsilos Pantokratoras monastery, the north of the island is the ideal hiking area for anyone looking for an active holiday. The Corfu Trail stretches around the highest mountain on the island – the Pantokratoras (approx. 907 m) – with a total length of 220 km. The trail leads you along the coast through the lush green olive groves and secluded little beaches along the way invite you to linger. This is the right place for anyone longing for breathtaking landscapes in unspoilt nature. The tour is particularly fascinating during the play of lights at sunrise.

Neighbouring Isles Exciting places can also be found beyond Corfu itself, of course. The Diapontian Islands to the north-west of Corfu can be easily explored by ferry. They include Erikoussa, Mathraki and Othoni. Alternatively, a boat trip to the southeast is worthwhile, where the two islands of Paxi and Antipaxi lure visitors with their beautiful beaches. Saranda and the ancient city of Butrint Last but not least, we recommend a detour to Albania. Saranda and Butrint are the ideal destinations for a leisurely day trip. The ferry crossing from Corfu to Albania takes about an hour and costs roughly € 20, while high-speed ferries or the “Flying Dolphin” will take travellers over to Albania in just 30 minutes.

Wie entstand die Idee, ein mittelalterliches Gefängnis in ein Fine-Dining-Restaurant zu verwandeln? Das Gebäude wechselte über die Jahrhunderte viele Male seine Besitzer. Zuletzt gehörte es einem guten Freund meines Vaters, der dort eine Tischlerei betrieb und den Turm schließlich an ihn verkaufte. Als Familienprojekt sanierten wir den Turm komplett und es entstand ein innovatives Restaurant mit einer beeindruckenden Geschichte.

Come è nata l’idea di trasformare una prigione medievale in un ristorante fine dining? Nel corso dei secoli, la Torre Flurin passò in mano a diversi proprietari ed ebbe svariati utilizzi. Noi l’abbiamo comprata da un buon amico di mio padre, che usava l’edificio come falegnameria, e ristrutturata completamente per dare vita al nostro progetto di famiglia: un innovativo ristorante in un edificio dalla storia davvero affascinante.

How did the idea of transforming a medieval prison into a fine-dining restaurant come about? The building changed ownership many times over the centuries. It last belonged to a good friend of my father, who ran a carpentry business there and eventually sold the tower to him. We completely renovated the tower as a family project and created an innovative restaurant with an impressive history.

Woher holen Sie sich die Inspiration für Ihre Gerichte? Ich reise sehr gerne und interessiere mich für die Kultur und Natur der Länder sowie deren Kochtechniken. Die Herausforderung ist es, die erworbenen Eindrücke in einem Gericht umzusetzen und dabei unsere lokalen Produkte zu verwenden.

Dove trova l’ispirazione per le Sue creazioni? Mi piace molto viaggiare e scoprire la natura, la cultura e, non da ultimo, le peculiari tecniche di cucina dei vari Paesi che visito. La sfida, poi, consiste nel tradurre le sensazioni vissute in una ricetta, usando tuttavia i prodotti del territorio altoatesino.

Where do you find inspiration for your dishes? I love travelling and am interested in the culture and nature of other countries and their cooking techniques. The challenge is to translate the impressions I acquire into a dish using our local produce.

Was ist Ihr Signature Dish? Je nach Saison – knusprige asiatisch inspirierte Rollen mit Südtiroler Gansfüllung und süß-saurer Apfelsauce im Winter, im Frühling hingegen Vinschger Spargel mit Sauce Maltaise, pochiertem Bio-Ei und Zitrus, aber auch ein Alpenpoke mit Südtiroler Lachsforelle, Quitte und Nackthafer.

Qual è il Suo piatto d’autore? In inverno, involtini croccanti di ispirazione asiatica, ma ripieni di anatra nostrana e salsa di mele agrodolce; in primavera, gli asparagi della Val Venosta con salsa maltese, uovo bio in camicia e agrumi, ma anche un pokè ai sapori alpini con trota salmonata locale, cotogna e avena nuda.

What is your signature dish? It depends on the season: in winter, crispy Asian-inspired rolls with South Tyrolean goose filling and sweet and sour apple sauce. In the spring, asparagus from Venosta Valley with Maltaise sauce, poached organic egg and citrus, or an AlpinePoke with South Tyrolean salmon trout, quince and naked oats.

Building bridges to other cultures is particularly effective at the dining table. That's why I believe that SkyAlps, with its international connections, brings people together, especially in culinary terms. For us South Tyroleans, the outward view also help us in understanding ourselves better.

Wo sollte Sie SkyAlps einmal hinbringen? Nach London, wo ich einige Jahre gelebt habe. Als großer Spanienfan würde ich aber auch gerne Orte wie Madrid oder San Sebastián besuchen, die ebenfalls eine fantastische Küche bieten.

Dove vorrebbe volare con SkyAlps? A Londra, dove ho vissuto per qualche anno. Essendo un grande amante della Spagna, poi, sarebbe bello anche poter andare a Madrid e San Sebastián, le quali offrono una cucina eccezionale.

Where should SkyAlps take you? To London, where I lived for a few years. As a big fan of Spain, I would also like to visit places like Madrid or San Sebastián, which also offer fantastic cuisine.

How would you describe your cooking style in three words? Bold, ethical, honest. I use seasonal products, honour their origin and think outside the box. I transform the products into authentic dishes. This is how I create new authentic flurin menus every month.

Südtirols Wein-Frauen setzen starke Akzente Spazio alle donne nella scena enologica altoatesina

Alto Adige’s wine-women set high standards

Dass sich die Südtiroler Weinszene so innovativ und nachhaltig präsentiert wie nie zuvor, ist der neuen Winzergeneration zu verdanken, in der Frauen genauso starke Akzente setzen wie Männer. „Die größte Herausforderung besteht künftig darin, auch unter klimatisch schwieriger werdenden Bedingungen ausgezeichnete Weine in die Flaschen zu bringen“, sagt Magdalena Pratzner, die das elterliche Weingut Falkenstein in Naturns führt und vor kurzem als erste Frau zur Präsidentin der Vereinigung „Freie Weinbauern Südtirol“ gewählt wurde. Für beide Aufgaben ist sie bestens gewappnet, vertiefte sie doch nach ihrem Önologie-Studium ihr Wissen unter anderem in Frankreich, Australien und den USA.

Zwar spielten Frauen im Weinbau Südtirols schon immer eine tragende Rolle, doch früher wirkten sie eher im Hintergrund. Eine wichtige Vorreiterin in Sachen Frauenpower war Elena Walch. Sie übernahm Anfang der 1980er Jahre das Weingut in Tramin, das heute stolz ihren Namen trägt. „Anfangs fragte man mich schon mal, wo denn mein Mann sei“, erinnert sie sich. Dank ihrer Energie und Dynamik gilt sie längst als Symbolfigur der Südtiroler Weinszene. Heute ist es selbstverständlich, dass Frauen im Weinbau führende Positionen einnehmen. Kein Wunder, denn sie sind dafür bestens ausgebildet. Eva Kaneppele beispielsweise studierte Betriebswissenschaft in Mailand und schloss in Oxford

mit einem Master in Tourismus ab, bevor sie die Geschäftsführung des familieneigenen Weinguts Ritterhof in Kaltern übernahm. Auch Alexandra Erlacher, Sommelière und Verkaufsleiterin der Kellerei Andrian, beobachtet, dass nur noch ganz selten ein Hauch von männlicher Bevormundung mitschwingt. Sie ist überzeugt, dass die Südtiroler Weinszene davon profitiert, dass Frauen und Männer einen unterschiedlichen Zugang zum Elixier Wein haben. „Während Männer oft einen rationalen Ansatz verfolgen, agieren Frauen emotionaler, aber keineswegs weniger kompetent“, betont sie. Bleibt einzig die Frage nach dem Wein selbst: Gibt es eine sensorisch nachvollziehbare männliche und eine weib-

liche Interpretation? Die Wein-Frauen sind sich einig: Geschlechtsspezifische Weine gibt es nicht – oder wie die Grande Dame der Südtiroler Weinwirtschaft Elena Walch es ausdrückt: „Es kommt nicht darauf an, ob man Mann oder Frau ist; es kommt darauf an, was in der Flasche ist.“ Il mondo del vino in Alto Adige si presenta più innovativo e sostenibile che mai. Ciò è da attribuire alla nuova generazione di viticoltori, nella quale le donne contribuiscono tanto quanto gli uomini. “La maggiore sfida futura sarà continuare a produrre vini eccellenti nonostante le condizioni climatiche sempre più difficili”, afferma Magdalena Pratzner, a capo dell’azienda agricola di famiglia Falkenstein, a Naturno, e, da qualche mese, anche prima presidentessa dell’associazione Vignaioli indipendenti dell’Alto Adige. Si tratta di una persona certamente preparata per rivestire al meglio entrambe le cariche, viste la sua laurea in enologia e le varie esperienze fatte all’estero – come in Francia, Australia e Stati Uniti – per approfondire le conoscenze in materia. In realtà, le donne hanno sempre ricoperto un ruolo importante nel panorama vitivinicolo regionale, tuttavia prima rimanevano nell’ombra. Una delle più simboliche figure femminili nel settore, caratterizzata da grinta e dinamismo, è Elena Walch: nei primi anni ’80 rilevò la cantina a Termeno che ora porta orgogliosamente il suo nome. “All’inizio, mi veniva chiesto spesso dove fosse mio marito”, si ricorda. Oggi, invece, è del tutto normale che le donne occupino incarichi di prestigio – e non c’è da stupirsi, perché di fatto sono adeguatamente formate. Eva Kaneppele, ad esempio, ha studiato economia aziendale a Milano per poi conseguire un master nel turismo a Oxford, prima di assumere la gestione della tenuta familiare Ritterhof a Caldaro. Anche Alexandra Erlacher, sommelière e responsabile vendite presso la Cantina Andriano, osserva che ormai solo raramente si nota ancora del maschilismo. Dal canto suo, è convinta che la viticoltura tragga profitto dal fatto che uomini e donne si approccino diversamente al vino stesso: “Mentre i primi tendono ad avere visioni razionali, noi agiamo in modo più emozionale, ma non per questo meno competente”, evidenzia. Rimane aperta un’unica domanda riguardo alla valutazione sensoriale del vino: sono

state comprovate interpretazioni più maschili o femminili? Le signore del vino concordano sul fatto che non esistono produzioni “di genere” e per esprimerlo con le parole della gran dama dell’industria enologica altoatesina: “Non importa tanto che sia un uomo o una donna a degustarlo, conta la qualità del vino nella bottiglia”. The wine scene in Alto Adige is more innovative and sustainable than ever before. This is thanks to a new generation of female winemakers, who are imparting just as strong an impact as men. “In the future, the biggest challenge will be to bottle excellent wines even under increasingly difficult climatic conditions,” says Magdalena Pratzner, who runs the family-owned Falkenstein winery in Naturno. Elena Walch was an important pioneer in terms of promoting female power in this specific industry. Back in the early 1980s, she took over the winery in Termeno – today it proudly bears her name. “In the beginning, people often used to ask me where my husband was,” she recalls. She has long been a symbolic figure in the Alto Adige wine scene thanks to her energy and dynamism. Nowadays, it is taken for granted that women occupy leading positions in viticulture. This is hardly surprising, as they are well trained to do so. Eva Kaneppele, for example, studied business administration in Milan and graduated from Oxford with a Master's degree in tourism before she took over the management of the Ritterhof winery in Caldaro, owned by her family. Alexandra Erlacher, sommelier and sales manager at the Cantina Andriano, has also observed that there is rarely a hint of male patronising happening today. She is convinced that the wine scene in Alto Adige benefits from the fact that women and men have a different approach to the elixir that is wine. “While men often take a rational approach, women act more on their gut-feeling, but are by no

means less competent,” she points out. The only question that remains is that of the wine itself: Is there a comprehensible sensory female and male interpretation? The ‘wine-women’ agree, that there are no gender-specific wines – or as the grande dame of the wine industry in Alto Adige, Elena Walch, phrases it: “It does not matter whether you're a man or a woman; it's what's in the bottle that counts.”

Bozen Nord. Voller Vorfreude stehen sie im Regal, still und regungslos, halten die Luft an, nicht mehr lang. Dann endlich, 19:00 Uhr, Ladenschluss. Die zwei letzten Kunden sind nun auch an der Kasse. Einer der Sommeliers macht noch eine Geschenkpackung zurecht, die jemand telefonisch bestellt hatte, sie morgen abholen will. Diesmal hatte Georg das Glück, ein Merlot aus Kaltern. Jetzt wurde er wirklich auserwählt, hatte ges-

tern schon davon geschwärmt, dass er es irgendwie vorahnt. Und jetzt steht er dort im schönen Karton, voller Stolz und glänzt wie nie zuvor. Wie schön für ihn, und doch wird er uns fehlen, er war ein echt geselliger Typ, ein guter! Kurz drauf macht Chef Günther noch seine Runde, knipst die Lichter aus, schließt ab. „Wow, war das wieder ein Tag“, ruft Elisa aus dem Regal der Weißweine. „Buonasera, meine Freunde“, bringt

sich die elegante Chianti-Flasche ein. „Die Nacht ist jung, lasst uns wieder ausgelassen feiern!“ „Cheers, das wird bestimmt erfrischend“, antwortet die fröhliche Runde Gins mit charmantem britischem Akzent. „Nein, die Nacht gehört der Ruhe“, meint der vornehme Whisky aus Schottland mit seiner tiefen, reifen Stimme, „der Ruhe und dem Duft von Eiche und Torf!“ „Langweilig, wie wär’s mit einem Zau-

bertrick?“, meint der Illusionist. „Schluss ihr Lieben“, meint Syrah. Sie ist eine der ältesten hier, eine richtige Rarität, sagt man. „Ihr wisst, heute ist GeschichtenNacht. Pedro, du bist dran, erzähl uns vom Meer, vom weißen Strand und wie es ist zu fliegen …“ Bolzano Nord. Sono in attesa, allineati sugli scaffali, immobili e silenziosi, trattenendo il respiro. Ormai non manca molto alla chiusura. Ecco, sono finalmente scattate le 19:00, anche gli ultimi due clienti sono arrivati alla cassa e uno dei sommelier sta finendo di confezionare un pacco regalo che qualcuno ha ordinato telefonicamente per ritirarlo domani. Stavolta è stato Georg, un Merlot di Caldaro, ad avere fortuna. È lui il prescelto, già ieri fremeva di aspettativa, sentiva che sarebbe successo. E adesso è lì nel suo bel cartone, pieno di orgoglio e splendente come mai prima. Siamo contenti per lui, ma certo ci mancherà, era un tipo socievole, uno in gamba! Poco dopo, il capo, Günther, fa l’ultimo giro, poi spegne le luci e chiude il negozio. “Wow, che giornata anche oggi!”, è la voce di Elisa dallo scaffale dei vini bianchi. “Buonasera, cari amici”, interviene l’elegante bottiglia di Chianti. E continua: “La notte è giovane, rilassiamoci e festeggiamo!”. “Tutta vita, brindiamo!”, risponde l’allegra brigata dei gin con un affascinante accento britannico. “Eh no, la notte richiede tranquillità”, afferma il distinto whisky scozzese con la sua voce piena e profonda… “tranquillità e profumo di rovere e torba”. “Che noia! E se provassimo con un gioco di prestigio?”, ironizza l’Illusionista. “Basta così ragazzi”, interviene Syrah – è una delle più anziane qui, una vera rarità, dicono. “Lo sapete, questa è la notte delle storie. Forza Pedro, tocca a te, raccontaci del mare, delle spiagge di sabbia bianca e di cosa si prova a volare…”, conclude. Bolzano Nord. Full of anticipation, they are standing on the shelf, motionless and still, holding their breath – but not for long. Then, finally, it’s 7 p.m., closing time. The last two customers are now

at the counter. One of the sommeliers is preparing a gift box that someone has ordered by phone and wants to pick up tomorrow. This time the lucky one was Georg, a Merlot from Caldaro. Finally, he has been chosen; he had been raving about it since the previous day, he kind of predicted it! And now he is shining there, in his beautiful box, proud and shiny like never before. Good for him! But we will miss him, he was a really nice and sociable guy! Shortly afterwards, the owner Günther makes his final round once again, turns off the lights and locks the door. “Wow, what a day,” Elisa calls out from the white wine shelf. “Buonasera, my friends,” the elegant Chianti bottle chimes in. “The night is young, let’s party hard again!” “Cheers, that will definitely be refreshing,” the cheerful group of Gins with their charming British accent agree. “No, the night is supposed to be a silent time,” says the noble whisky from Scotland with his deep, mature voice, “to silence and to the scent of oak and peat!” – “Boring! How about a magic trick?” asks the illusionist Gin bottle. “Quiet, dear ones,” says Syrah – she’s one of the oldest here, a true rarity, they say. “You know it’s storytelling night. Pedro, it‫׳‬s your turn, tell us about the sea, the white beach and what flying feels like ...”

zwei betriebseigenen Landwirtschaftsbetrieben Tenuta Corte Migliorina (Orbetello) und Tenuta Collelungo (Roccastrada) in der Toskana eingeleitet. Im Laufe von fünf Jahren wurden in Corte Migliorina 150 ha Land bepflanzt, in Collelungo 90 ha. Zudem hat Loacker langfristige Lieferverträge (15 Jahre Mindestlaufzeit) in der Toskana, in Venetien, Umbrien und in den Marken unterzeichnet (ca. weitere 900 ha). Loacker setzt sich mit diesem Vorhaben für immer effizientere landwirtschaftliche Methoden ein, die das Ökosystem respektieren. Um die Umweltauswirkungen so weit wie möglich einzugrenzen, hat Loacker seinen eigenen Betrieben und allen Partnern den Einsatz von Herbi-

ziden jeglicher Art verboten. Zudem reduziert Loacker den Einsatz von Insektiziden durch die Praxis der Schüttelprüfung. „Einige Insektenarten können ein Problem für die Qualität der Haselnüsse darstellen, da sie die Schale durchbeißen und den Geschmack sehr bitter machen“, erklärt Maurizio Furlan, Head of Hazelnut Farms. „Deshalb schütteln wir unsere Pflanzen ab Mitte Juni einmal pro Woche und gehen erst dann gegen Insekten vor, wenn die Pflanze von mindestens sechs Exemplaren befallen sind.“ In den Landwirtschaftsbetrieben Corte Migliorina und Collelungo wendet Loacker außerdem ein unterirdisches Bewässerungssystem an, wodurch die Wasservertei-

lung optimiert und unnütze Verschwendung dank Niederschlagswasserbecken unterbunden wird. Für die Energieproduktion werden zudem Fotovoltaik-Anlagen errichtet. Per continuare a mantenere la promessa di “bontà” fatta al consumatore, Loacker ha avviato il piano a lungo termine per l’approvvigionamento di nocciole 100% italiane da filiera controllata “Noccioleti Italiani”. Tale progetto è entrato in operatività nel 2014 in Toscana, nelle due realtà agricole di proprietà dell’azienda, la tenuta Corte Migliorina (a Orbetello) e Tarella Collelungo (a Roccastrada). A cinque anni dall’inizio della messa a dimora dei noccioleti all’interno dell’area della tenuta Corte Migliorina, sono stati piantati 150 ettari; nella tenuta Collelungo, 90 ettari. Nel corso di questi anni Loacker ha inoltre avviato un progetto di contratti di filiera a lungo termine (minimo quindici anni) in Toscana, Veneto, Umbria e nelle Marche. Nel portare avanti questo progetto, Loacker si impegna ad applicare metodi di coltivazione che risultino sempre più efficienti e che non alterino o danneggino l’ecosistema circostante. Per ridurre al minimo l’impatto sull’ambiente, Loacker ha bandito l’utilizzo nelle proprie aziende e in quelle partner di qualsiasi tipo di erbicida. Per proteggere le piante dagli attacchi degli insetti, abbatte l’uso di insetticidi grazie alla pratica dello shake test. “Alcune specie di insetti possono rappresentare un problema per la qualità delle nocciole, in quanto riescono a morderne il guscio e rendono il sapore molto amaro”, afferma Maurizio Furlan, Head of Hazelnut Farms. “Per questo motivo, da metà giugno in poi, scuotiamo le nostre piante una volta alla settimana e solo quando cadono almeno sei insetti interveniamo contro di loro”, continua. All’interno delle tenute Corte Migliorina e Collelungo, inoltre, Loacker ha realizzato un

sistema di subirrigazione che permette di ottimizzare la distribuzione idrica e ridurre lo spreco d’acqua, tramite l’utilizzo di bacini di raccolta delle acque meteoriche nel periodo invernale. Sono inoltre previsti impianti fotovoltaici per la produzione di energia.
